Honestly - corvette continues to be “sports car” reliable, well priced, lots of power, and a crazy nice lineage. When I was younger I didn’t really appreciate them for what they were. Now - I cannot believe I didn’t hop on the bandwagon sooner for what they are capable of doing. Wishing one day I can afford one of these guys, insane car.

I raced a zr1 today with my RSV4 on a nice curvy road. Usually people with nice cars can't drive at all and they just dissapear behind me. But damn this dude could drive and DAMN that car is fast! I was pushing myself and the bike harder than I will ever do on a public road again and was barely keeping up with him. When he stopped I found out he was a race driver, which explains a lot... But still. That car is insane!
You know what I love about Doug? His content isn't trying to be something its not. Its so honest and consistent. Theres no cinematic edits of random B roll to tropical house. He's entertaining on his own and thats so rare nowadays. Love it. So interesting. Keep it up

That wing is necessary going 200 + mph on a track. It's goes through the body and bolted into the chassis since downward wind pressure may exceed 900 lbs. It's a beauty when you know it's there for practical purpose.

The former being the most annoying of the two, but the latter is also annoying in the sense that the pilots can't hear you while in the cockpit (just telling them "nice landing" as you exit the plane is a much better way to show appreciation).

I'd say they'd be scared except the ride comfort is far apart. Ride in a Z07 and then follow it up with a ride in a Porsche GT3. Night and day difference in the comfort of the ride. The Vette is a beast on a track but it also beats the hell out of you, unlike the German and Italian cars.
It also has an interior that should be in a car 1/4 of the price. At least when you're sitting in a Porsche, Audi, or Mercedes you KNOW you're in something over 100k.
Clay Ford You know your sitting in over 100k when you’re in the corvette too , 911 turbo s interior is like base 911 ,no difference . The zr1 has carbon fiber everywhere and nice competition seats with beefy steering wheel and leather everywhere . It looks good for the price .
It gets even funnier, you can probably buy this car used for the price of some option on a Ferrari or a McLaren. Even funnier, this car is probably more reliable than any British or Italian rival.
I have a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport and just ordered the new C8. I went to Corvettes at Carlisle and I was impressed with the 2020 Corvettes. Wish they would let people test drive them.
You should probably wait till gm makes the c8 perfect, especially since gm doesn't make great Gen 1 cars. But if you have the coin it doesn't really matter

I love the C7 and C8 but I think the 8 is growing on me but the C7 is still my fav front engine Corvette. I think I’m going to try and get the 2023-2025 models with the most power like the C8 ZR1 or the new top tier model half electric and half gas coming late 2024
$140k is honestly a very reasonable price considering the fact that it's out performing most $300k+ supercars. I think GM did a spectacular job on this car.

I got a 30-minute backroads ride in one of these last weekend, and it blew me away. It was so thrilling that I was hooting and howling, and I am north of 50 years old.

sieve5 Consider that that Evo or WRX would be nowhere near as refined, would take a serious amount of time to build up and then get everything running efficiently, reliability would also be a serious issue, on the EJ specifically, and they wouldn't exactly fair too well in the crash safety department either (source: Have owned many JDM cars) the ZR1 is essentially a shortcut package in a lot of ways to owning a "supercar"
I agree that this Corvette is a good shortcut to supercar ownership. That being said there are many used exotics out there for well under 150k (gallardo/r8 in mind here). Also with a project car you wouldn't have that sweet warranty which ties into the reliability issue you brought up. I dunno I think that once you spend over 100k on ANY car you'd have something that would stomp this. As far as crash safety goes; a race car has a full cage, racing seats, helmet.... The things you wouldn't be able to get that the Chevy would have the project car are that sweet magnetic ride suspension and many other bits that make that car handle so well. I agree that there's definitely a case for ownership for people who have 150k to buy a fast car they want to be reliable... I get it. I'm just definitely not one of those people and I can't get my head around how you could save a lot of money and get something that's 90% as good.
I love when you drive really high horsepower cars and floor it. Nothing is more telling than the look in your eyes. They slowly open and get so intense in Real. Real. Cars.

sieve5 Consider that that Evo or WRX would be nowhere near as refined, would take a serious amount of time to build up and then get everything running efficiently, reliability would also be a serious issue, on the EJ specifically, and they wouldn't exactly fair too well in the crash safety department either (source: Have owned many JDM cars) the ZR1 is essentially a shortcut package in a lot of ways to owning a "supercar"
I agree that this Corvette is a good shortcut to supercar ownership. That being said there are many used exotics out there for well under 150k (gallardo/r8 in mind here). Also with a project car you wouldn't have that sweet warranty which ties into the reliability issue you brought up.
I dunno I think that once you spend over 100k on ANY car you'd have something that would stomp this. As far as crash safety goes; a race car has a full cage, racing seats, helmet.... The things you wouldn't be able to get that the Chevy would have the project car are that sweet magnetic ride suspension and many other bits that make that car handle so well.
I agree that there's definitely a case for ownership for people who have 150k to buy a fast car they want to be reliable... I get it. I'm just definitely not one of those people and I can't get my head around how you could save a lot of money and get something that's 90% as good.
