- The Corvette has been America's true sports car ever since 1953 and Chevrolet created something extra special with the ZR1. Under the shaker style hood is a 6.2L V8 that produces 755HP & can be mated to a 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. On the outside the Corvette ZR1 receives a host over special aero treatments including a unique front fascia. On the inside you will get a high level of materials including leather and Alcantara. The blue flames you mentioned are due to unburned fuel in the exhaust as a result of letting off the throttle while accelerating. This occurs since since the catalytic converter is very hot and as that unburned fuel passes through it, it ignites and results in the blue flames you mentioned. It does look cool though.

Such a badass car! These will be collector cars in the future as Chevy only made them for one model year and not many people bought them with the introduction of the 2020 C8.

@@dwade3202 Unfortunately, the 2019 ZR1 was never sold in Europe because the engine is so massive that it bulges out of the hood, and that does not meet European pedestrian safety standards in the event the car hits someone, thus Chevrolet couldn’t sell it there. Although the manual is really cool, driving a 755hp rear-wheel-drive sports car with a manual would feel like a death trap because the car is so fast, you wouldn’t be able to drive it at or near its limit having to continually shift it.
@@BarikSingh The engine itself doesn't protrude through the hood. The carbon fiber engine cover you see which does protrude is just that, a cover for the supercharger. When you remove it (four bolts) you expose the top of the supercharger which is flat and is about three inches below the hood.

Love my 2019 ZR1! Had it almost three years now. It is amazing to see people still excited about it even now! Wife picked up a Hellcat Redeye because she was tired of not being about to keep up with it when we took road trips. It is an amazing car, for sure.

I bougt a manual C7 Z51 3LT in Germany half a year ago, the ZR1s are literally 3x the price of a Stingray over here, it's crazy. But boy is that thing I-N-S-A-N-E, a good motivation to keep going!

It is likely the closest to you owning a C7.R--and,in all likelihood, you could easily overcome that venerable race champion. 💪😉

It’s insane the numbers of this car. Weight, power, quarter mile, everything just all the numbers holy shit man it blows my mind it’s a budget Ferrari. I’m a dodge guy but man I’d probably get this over a demon if I had 150,000 dollars

A minor correction if I may. The "spoilers" you speak of on the C7 ZR1 are in fact wings, not spoilers. The difference being a spoiler is an aerodynamic device designed to reduce drag which in turn helps improve fuel economy. Not that anyone buys a Corvette in order to save fuel costs. But they do and thus they help improve the manufacturers corporate average fuel economy. That is the average fuel economy, given every vehicle they make, which must meet a minimum average amount. It's federal law.
A wing on the other hand is just that. However, instead of producing lift, as does the wing on aircraft for example, they simply flip them upside down so they produce downforce instead. You can tell they're in fact wings if you place the palm of your hand underneath one and feel the curvature of it from front to back. The wing is thicker in the front (leading edge) and tapers to as you move your hand toward the back (trailing edge).
If you don't already know, a wing works because the air flowing over the curved surface must travel faster than the air flowing over the flatter surface so all of the air (top and bottom) arrives at the same point at the same time. And since Bernoulli's principle states that air that is traveling faster results in less pressure, whereas air which is traveling slower results in more pressure. And thus lift, or in this case down force, is generated by the wing since a low pressure area exists on top of the wing and therefore atmospheric pressure pushes down on what is at that point an area of lower pressure which results in downforce.
And on the ZR1 with the ZTK pkg, which includes the high wing, it produces 950 lbs of down force "at speed". And just what speed is that? Well, GM has never said. However, most assume it must be at top speed, although that's doubtful in my opinion. I say that since not many people are going to take corners at ~212 MPH.
That said, the "high wing" which is available for the C8 is in fact neither a wing nor a spoiler. It's in fact a hybrid of both so to speak. Or as GM refers to it, a "high wing spoiler". What the heck is that you ask? Well, it's just that. Both outboard ends of the upper surfaces trailing edge have a section which is angled upward which is readily visible in some photos. And it's those upwardly angled sections which result in downforce since the air passing over them must accelerate while doing so for the same reason I described previously. Hence some amount of downforce is generated. Not nearly much as the wing on the ZR1 generates, but some nonetheless.
That "high wing spoiler" also acts as, well, a spoiler. And as mentioned previously it does so by controlling the airflow off the rear of the car in a manner which helps reduce aerodynamic drag, It does so by preventing the air from tumbling downward, like a waterfall. Remember, like water, air is a fluid. Not a liquid, but a fluid. And thus less turbulence equals less drag. And less drag equals greater fuel economy.
A great point is the 19’ ZR1 is selling right now for almost MSRP while used. I think part of it is the C8 Z06 and the ZR1 are so far off. And it is the only ZR1 made that’s a one year only ZR1. Definitely a future collector car.

First ZR1 was made from 1969-1971, there was a lot more than a handful but they were a limited production each year.
The C7 ZR1 is such a great buy. The price on it just doesn't go down. My C8 is at the dealer. Taking delivery Tuesday. Super excited. Wouldn't mind a C7 ZR1 someday.
