This is one of the only series’ out there where I can’t get a fix from just watching a few clips and forget the show exists for awhile. Anytime I watch clips, I just want to watch the show all over again 😂
Having lived through the 60s I always felt like I was back then again with this show. How Peggy's hair style changed was spot on. By the time she had the flip hairdo I had one too.
One nice detail I noticed was the direction Rachel’s hair is blowing when she is talking about the dogs which is towards Don. They are implying subtle queues of attraction brewing in the scene without making it obvious, which happens in real life. Attraction happens within these little moments that don't have to be said, but experienced. Body language and the scent of perfume can be the details that set their chemistry in motion. Nice touch.
RACHEL IS A FAIRYTALE IM SO STUPID HOW DID I NOT REALIZE! The knight (in shining armor cufflinks, the three bears for Goldilocks, the “sleeping beauty” that’s supposed to be watching them)
every thing about this scene is so perfect, even the little things, like when Rachel says "I took you up here. That was stupid" reveals how she's able to take responsibility for her actions, while Don tried to excuse his. So, even though she had a fantasy about Don and didn't even ask if he was married at the risk of destroying it (showing an indulgence that is somewhat similar to Don's - so in a way they share that flaw), she was able to screw her head on straight before letting it go any further.

it’s kind of funny how rachel is probably somewhere in the top 3 or 5 most influential women in don’s life (the others would probably be anna betty sally and peggy) and yet from the day they met until the day she died, rachel never even heard the name dick whitman
I think Rachel is the one he remained the most emotionally attached to throughout his life, despite the brief time they spent together. She was his one chance at happiness.
She didn't hear the name, but she knew more about him than any of those other women except maybe Anna. Matthew Weiner himself said Rachel was the one that got away for Don.

This and Babylon are my favorite episdes of Mad Men. When Don and Rachel kissed on the rooftop was when I knew this show was going to be exceptional.
