Hey Chase, the nice thing with Brittney and the band is that if you ask nicely, there's a good chance they would give you an interview. She even reacted to reaction channels and recently did a colab with Mr Rock N Roll. Also I am always baffled by talent shows where the singers try to impress us by covering pop stars, if they really wanted to show how good they are, I always think to myself sing some Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Floor Jansen, Brittney Slays, etc. that is hard singing!!! BTW there is a great video of Brittney after a full show at a Karaoke bar singing Queensryche' Queen of the Reich like a banshee. 😀

You mention around 9:11 about wondering if someone was singing below her to harmonize. In both songs I've heard now, it seems as though she is either tracking vocals to harmonize with herself, she has incredible overtones, or one of the guys is singing above her on her higher notes.
I love how you mentioned the solo reflecting the vocal melody, I get chills when I hear that in songs. Another one by UTA where they do that is Call Me Immortal from the album, Apex.

I got to see UtA on 70000 tons of metal and they were absolutely my favorite or the whole festival 🤘 they played at 2:00 am with massive hangovers and totally Slayed it! Was supposed to fly out to Chicago on Saturday and Corona shut down everything on Friday 😧
I'm an old Canadian broad, 57, just starting to realize that there's a bunch of METAL out there in Canada. I have been living under a rock. Dreadfully embarrassed.
You know? I listened to "Awakening" a lot and watched some reactions and always though "okay, I mean, even if she does do great on x & y song, how much better than this are those?" XD I was just as flummoxed - jaw-on-the-floor - as Chase when Brittney started on this one. Holy CATS XD And this is the first 1.5 minutes!
My goodness she could double Rob Halford with that tone early in the song! Couldn't you just hear them covering Resurrection? Also has elements of early Blind Guardian in there. I used to listen so much of this type of music. They're really good! Thanks for another interesting vid, Chase.
You need to listen to Unleash the Archers 'General of the Dark Army'. This is when they were still an independent band and it features a lot more harsh vocals. It's great, you'll love it.
I am pretty sure that it is one of the guitarists who is doing the lower vocals during the chorus. I don't know if it was Grant at the time of that video, but when they do it live, andrew sings the lower vocals and it sounds just like him.
Whoever they got to produce their Apex album did them a huuuuge service. To me there is such a massive difference between the sound quality of that album (like with Awakening) and their previous ones (Including this song). It's hard to put my finger on it... a more amateurish sound? Even that doesn't sound right. I dunno. I'm just glad they settled into their sound
I agree wholeheartedly that Apex has so far been the "apex" of their sound and quality (not that I don't love their early stuff too - but it is totally different genres, technically). However, they are also years apart. Time Stands Still was two years earlier, but has a similar quality, but that one was four years after the previous. So yeah, I imagine after 6 years of doing this, they have improved their quality of recording as time goes on and they can afford it. Early stuff of a band (pre-record label) is rarely as high recording quality as when they get their "big break". Napalm Records apparently picked them up starting in 2015 with Time Stands Still, and that's why the quality is pretty similar to Apex, but very different from Demons
I have to say, you are one of the most underrated reactors out there. I love your analysis on those videos. Please do a reaction video together with #TheCharismaticVoice. You both are so informed about music/singing. That would be so cool!
No problem with the pausing if you have something to say pause instead of talking over the song. Then when you are ready to resume just rewind it a little bit. Britney is trained but she said in one interview I saw that she usually got stuck with the Alto parts in school because they had several Sopranos but she was the only one that could hit the lower notes. As for more UTA "Apex" is great but I would also recommend "Time Stands Still", "Northwest Passage", & "Ten Thousand Against One"
Very Helloweeny in my opinion, especially the chorus, and especially the run on the guitar between the words over and the mountains (at 5:37 for example). I like the song but I prefer the latest album, to me it sounds much better in terms of production, and to a certain extent the songwriting too. If you want to see a fun live video of just Brittney Slayes there's a video of her doing karaoke after a show in Scotland (th-cam.com/video/280DRqoGyLw/w-d-xo.html), and she sounds fantastic even though it's a phone recording.

I got to see UtA on 70000 tons of metal and they were absolutely my favorite or the whole festival 🤘 they played at 2:00 am with massive hangovers and totally Slayed it! Was supposed to fly out to Chicago on Saturday and Corona shut down everything on Friday 😧
Hang in there Steve, they'll be back playing soon I'm sure.
The crazy part is she hits all those notes live, too!
It's amazing live!
Great breakdown!!
You are verbalizing everything I wish I could get out as eloquently as you do, I love metal.
A big Inspiration is Iron Maiden and you can defintely tell by Brittney Slayes Vocals
Brilliant insight as always. By the way, that's how we'll all be dressing soon.
Great one, as always :)
Oh btw, if someone could please tweet Brittney? She has her own channel for reacting to reactions :D
I'm an old Canadian broad, 57, just starting to realize that there's a bunch of METAL out there in Canada. I have been living under a rock. Dreadfully embarrassed.
Haha never too late to discover new music.
Then you may like Lutharo from Hamilton. Their singer can sing and growl with the best of them. She’s another awesome voice.
you are a great reactionist. yes brittney has a great voice .. and she is damn hot to boot.. Cheers n be safe
They toured with Dragonforce before the tour was stopped due to Covid. That must have been a great show!!!!
Chase does it "right". Too many channels just watch the videos and having nothing to say. What's the point? Well done!
Dear Chase, great reaction, congratulations!! my opinion ... I'm in Metal for 40 years .... today there is no better band than UTA
This is a vocal masterpiece accompanied by Virtuosos!
Absolutely
Your face, man, when she screams 😂
Damn...getting so many Maiden vibes. So,glad Metal is in good hands 🤘🙏🇦🇺
You need to hear Test Your Metal by them! Funnnn song
Just wanted to say you have good timings for your pauses.
And this band is wicked.
Appreciate that. Thank you.
Chase, good reaction. It doesn't look like you've checked out Time Stands Still yet. You won't be disappointed.
UNLEASH THE ARCHERS - TEST YOUR METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU
nobody ever reacts to that song.
One of their best m8!
I'm gonna go react to it right now
It's dope as shit, reminds me of Garage Inc era Metallica
As someone from her home town, I'm glad they got their shot, cuz they just keep reaching higher.
try Unleash The Archers - General Of The Dark Army
richard de haan bucket knight :D
Yea make this happen. Amazing song
I am pretty sure that it is one of the guitarists who is doing the lower vocals during the chorus. I don't know if it was Grant at the time of that video, but when they do it live, andrew sings the lower vocals and it sounds just like him.
Brittney Slayes and Lord of the Trident doing Brindisi is a must see.
Don't worry about pausing. #1 it helps not get copyright, and #2 we wanna hear your insight.
Please check out Outsider by Veil of Maya 🙂
Again another nice reaction, definetly a great album. Period. But again you should try Ignea, beginning with I Tokuni.
You should check out these as well from them.
Test Your Metal
Cleanse the Bloodlines
Northwest Passage
She's so much more talented than that other Britney..
I have to say, you are one of the most underrated reactors out there. I love your analysis on those videos. Please do a reaction video together with #TheCharismaticVoice. You both are so informed about music/singing. That would be so cool!
Lead singers name is Brittany Hayes but she slays the vocals hence "Slayes" #vanisle
Frozen Steel and City of Iron are both amazing as well.
you need to see Daniel Heiman. He's the best technical singer in metal. Check out Dimhav-A Flame Transcendent or Lost Horizon-Highlander (The One)
You gotta check out "Cleanse The Bloodlines" and "Northwest Passage" next
Got them in the plan.
"Awakening" because "because"
"Tonight we Ride" because Brit.
"The Wind that Shapes the Land"
...that is all I can say.
