I've shot the 33XC in a XL action, 34'' tube, pretty awesome! Will shoot a Stuctured 34'' in 300 Norma this summer. I shoot a Cadex Patriot in 300 Norma at this time.

Mark, if I could have one wish, it would be to be about 55 years younger and just starting shooting ELR and hunting at long ranges. The technology and materials available today as well as what lies ahead in the future is extremely exciting to me. I was one who was always trying to perfect what was available, as materials available for the reloader and wildcat rifle builder were limited to almost 100 year old technology and materials. I made many of my own bullets, reformed several different rifle cases but, most was designed to increase the speed of a bullet being little was known about Ballistic Coefficients. So, powder development was stagnant. At 75 years of age next month, I am too old to start now as I appreciate just being able to reload and go shooting, passing on my knowledge to younger shooters. But, man, if only I could get one wish!
Some might say, the achievement with less makes the accomplishment mean more, and to achieve a little more with so much technology means a little less....you know, and well no harm in wishing, lol, Cheers

it’s the size of a tank barrel , of course it’s going to be very straight and strong. Gives a new meaning to Bull Barrel 😂. Probably took them a week to ream it and another month to make it

Great explanation. Have you thought about cutting a sharp taper about a 45 degree just behind the muzzle brake? That would create a larger hole end opening and easier for the air to dissipate instead of hitting the back of the brake straight on.
Nice setup. 1/2 pound trigger is dangerous. I can't imagine how it would feel. I can't wait to see some more of this rifle.

That's interesting about the trigger. I finally got my 6.5 CM (Rem 700 S/A; 28" Shilen Barrel) out of a conventional HS Precision traditional stock into the MDT LSS XL chassis with a Mag Pul PRS butt stock. It's always had a Jewell trigger in it set to about 2 oz. What I immediately noticed now that it's in the chassis with the pistol grip is that where as, like you, before I had a very good feel for the trigger but now I can't touch it without releasing the firing pin. I'm thinking the difference is that with the traditional stock, my hand position was giving me an up and back trigger pull, but with the pistol grip it's now a straight back pull. Fortunately the Jewell is an easy trigger to adjust without taking the action out of the stock. I like a light trigger, but not that light, haha.

Hello Mark and Sam. I really like your work and the channel content. I’m a long-time viewer but just only just subscribed.
I've been particularly interested in the 33XC Tacom HQ structured barrel series. I shoot .22lr NSRA/ISSF, and as you know we aren't allowed to shoot custom loads. So we're forever searching for the best and most consistent factory loads we can find. That means a lot of time with batch testing with different makes of ammo, not to mention the cost of having to buy a significant amount of that ammo to justify the batch testing.
I have seen other videos featuring Tacom HQ structured barrels, those shooters did mention that upon shooting something felt different. I understand you didn’t personally experience that for yourself but that’s what these shooters had to say. They also were saying that at even different powder loads and bullet weights they didn’t experience any difference in consistency.
So I guess my question is did you experience something similar? Also in one of your videos in this series, you mentioned having a light trigger. Do you use a single or two-stage trigger? Thanks for all the great content.
No we did not notice different feeling to shooting and we use all sorts of triggers, all explained in many videos, Cheers

Sounds like the trigger in the old bench rest rifle I just got from my grandad, 2 oz trigger before using it's set mode, at which point you feel the recoil before the trigger

That is interesting about the air flow. Do you think you could modify the first port of your brake for even more flow?
Temperature testing would be interesting but I'm not sure how to do that without a whole bunch of uncontrolled variables.

Why wouldn't you want as accurate of gas gun as possible? All mine are extremely accurate, I wouldn't own them if they weren't.

Hi, I was really surprised when you said that you found some sand (from sandblasting) into these holes 😨. I hope they put some good caps at the ends of the bore before doing it. Do you think a normal barrel with the same external diameter and length would be too heavy for the receiver or not ?
Depends on the receiver and everything else for that matter, would be very heavy, lol, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork very heavy would mean very low recoil. Since you dont have to carry more than few meters it should be a good idea
If possible could you find some way to check poi across different loads? I realize it's not entirely feasible since 33xc isn't an off the shelf cartridge, but that was a major point I saw advertised, was same poi across different loads, if not then cheers its good to hear the barrels shoot good at least.
Not the sort of testing we plan to do, but many others out there doing that sort thing, maybe have a bit of a look around, Cheers

Mark do you think the tube on your chassis might restrict airflow through the Barrel Ports . Maybe a few vent holes might help ?
