Meet Zack Honarvar. Even if you don’t recognize his name, you’ll definitely recognize his influence. He got his start managing TH-camrs like Yes Theory and Airrack BEFORE they were the massive channels you know them as today. Zack also co-founded CreatorNow, a learning community that’s helped creators like Jenny Hoyos and Daniel Wall blow up their channels. Zack has worked with more than 10,000 creators since 2017, so i wanted to ask him… what separates the top .1% from the rest?
    In this episode, you’ll learn
•The traits of highly successful creators
    •How you should measure growth
•Non-obvious pitfalls you need to avoid
•And how to set yourself up for long term success

There's some really good stuff here. What he said about working on the right things really hit home. I enjoy making videos but I also probably be working on things that will actually make money. And yes I do know I can make money indirectly with my videos, but while I'm waiting on that to work thru ads I make for my products and posting the links, I need to work on generating income outside of my channel. Whether it's a new job, cold reach outs for my products, etc.

"Perfectionism is masked insecurity" What a great takeaway. Separating yourself from the outcome was also excellent to hear, almost like therapy for TH-camrs lol. Thank you for sharing!

Looking back perfection has destroyed my career. The constant scrapping projects and overthinking.
I think sum ppl just feel uncomfy putting things out there and not having a hollywood sheen to it.
Best just get it out, and start looking at others and trying to match them not 50 million netflix or hollywood films.

Consistency is interesting. Out of 215 videos posted, 20 of them represent over 70% of all views to my channel.
However! I continue weekly posts because it gives me that space to fail and experiment. If I only posted once a month or whenever a video was done, a video failing would hurt WAY worse.

If u look into how the algorithm works, it's obvious that consistency is paramount.
I had a video using unreal engine 3d software etc... it got 180k views.
Right about that time A I. was kicking in, so I moved over to that, my next post got 80 views.
So you gotta be carefully trying different things out, mess up everything. Mr beast, joe rogan, ben shapiro, lex Friedman, hasan piker, tim pool, ishowspeed... just prove wot it takes to be huge creators.
I've even watched sum creators apologise for veering off and trying something new and they got a backlash.

Gentlemen, thank you for this interview. Goes straight to my heart. I am on this journey to craft storytelling that enriches the lives of the receiver. Your advice is encouraging. I feel like I have been on the right path, listening and curious, approaching with the right spirit, your conversation confirms this. Thank you for sharing your somewhat divergent advice from the rest of the crowd.

  • @BooBerryBliss

What a great conversation to witness. Thank you for that!
The almost polarized focus on monetization, subscribers, view time and click-somethings, in almost every other video I've seen, that targets aspiring or brand new Creators, is borderline insanity to me. Or the occasional "How to use AI to get rich and barely lift a finger" and "500 shorts in just 10 minutes using the bulk button". For me watching a lot of these has been... well let's say demotivating. My motivation for becoming a Content Creator was always to provide something of value to people I haven't met and probably never will. Being constantly bombarded with all these "Get rich fast" videos, and still keep true to my gut feeling has been... let's say "a challenge" for a few days.
I'm doing this because I want to create and then provide something that I did not find myself on this or any other platforms that felt like it had "soul" enough to engage me. The two of you just validated my gut feeling that I actually belong, even if the last few days of researching and practising new skills, left me feeling like polka dotted unicorn in a flock of striped zebras. Well, I might be just that, but I now think that's at least ok, and might even be a good thing?
So thank you again. I needed to hear this!
    Have a Blissful Day!

Your channel is so valuable Jay! I used to go as far away as possible from this kind of content because I grew bored of the people saying things like "put between 5 and 10 hashtags to get your video to blow up on tiktok" and then seeing that people who blow up don't even focus on that 😂. You come in this crowded space with valuable input from people who actually put in the work and you deliver it in such a cohesive and easy to understand way. Thank you 🤗

I grew from pretty much a dead TH-cam account with 600 subs that I was in another niche for 3 years, to getting to 7.5k subs in 1.5 months or so. I’m not posting everyday and all I’m doing is testing new things. Some work, some don’t. But I’m spending the next 6 months to creating a few content pieces weekly and figuring out what best suits TH-cam. The stuff that didn’t work here or Insta works well on TikTok. I post across the board.

I really love the highlight here about consistency not being a silver bullet. Something I've been saying to students a lot lately is that consistency is the prerequisite. Nobody succeeds in this space without consistency, but if you aren't being intentional about getting better with each "rep", consistency alone isn't going to get you anywhere.

Thank you Jay for the video! I used to think there was a quick way to have a successful channel /social media platform. Things are finally slowly building up for my channel and honestly, I'm super happy with the slow steady growth. I'd be super content with reaching 500 subs. Any more than 1,000 I could care less bc I finally found something I like making videos on that other people enjoy as well.
Watching your video Jay has reminded me of all the successful people I've read about and heard about. I used to want to be like them. I still respect hard-working people, but I don't want to drive my soul and body to the ground to reach a goal, be happy for a split second, and then have to find a bigger goal to reach hoping that will fulfill me instead. So, yeah, my goal is to be fulfilled with what I have, and what I can do NOW, grow at my own pace, and to keep that child-like curiosity.

Great show guys! Love love love the part about having to sacrifice something to devote time and energy and learning to being a content creator! I personally gave up hours and hours of video gaming to devote to my channel - now I consider researching and producing content as my new "game" - there is progression, and that dopamine hit when a video takes off! Thanks for confirming this is a valid thing! Cheers!

I have too young kids, a full time job, and a house to keep in some kind of order😅. I keep trying to tell myself that it's OK if the video doesn't get out on time. I personally don't expect the people I follow to put out a video every week. I'm hoping not to attract the kind of people that expect a video a day or a video a week from me. It's just not sustainable.❤

Great interview. ...If I were at this point in my life having a social life every weekend...I would be thinking about content...because the truth is that a while ago I began to lose the stimulation of free time that did not stimulate my creativity or try creative leisure. This is very incorrect, but I began to feel very strongly the loss of time in long social gatherings. I only feel good about myself when I'm building something and it seems like it's a one-way street.

This was a great interview. I have a question. Y’all (and many others) say “don’t be a perfectionist” but then you turn right around and say “don’t hit upload until you’ve done everything in your power to make it the best you can.” Well, THAT’s being a perfectionist. You can’t have it both ways. So, which is it?

How much simply has to do with the creator's personality that viewers enjoy?

It’s so weird to me that all these huge TH-camrs mentioned in these interviews I’ve never heard of or watched or even seen their videos in my feeds.

There are a lot of big creators out there! We all have our corners of the internet. A lot of the biggest creators have younger audiences, too.
