Its all in the fighter, but it has been proven the Dutch school is very effective.
The art of low kicks and boxing combinations works in any form of kickboxing, whether on muay-Thai, Glory, K1 or whatever rules.
If you have that base you can add clinching, elbows, etc.
Several Dutch fighters have proven that in the past, beating Thai champions in matches held in Thailand.

A lot of it here in The Netherlands is basically a combination of Dutch Kickboxing and Muay Thai. So it's Muay Thai Kickboxing. It's both of them blended together. You learn elbows, knees and the Muay Thai clinch in combination with Dutch Kickboxing where you learn better boxing techniques along with everything kickboxing and muay thai. This is because in traditional Muay Thai the boxing technique is really lacking. So now you are a Muay Thai Kick boxer with great kicking/kneeing/clinching techniques as well as knowing how to box.

From the comment section, and every fight forum on the interwebs:
_"If Ramon Dekkers didn't win on KO he would lose by points to the thais, a lot of times he was better but still lost on points."_
Untrue, yet constantly regurgitated. Ramon dekkers did very well, but he did not beat thais at their own game, he went toe-to-toe with them. Very impressive feat, but to say that he was a superior fighter compared to thais is simply not factually correct.
Yes; he was robbed once or twice, but that does not reflect back on the entirety of his fighting career, which spanned the course of many years.

I hear you. Though Ramon is a legend in the Netherlands, rightfully so if I might add, chauvinism always plays a big part. He undeniably played a big part in the rise of Dutch kickboxing. I mean the guy got a freaking award from the king of Thailand for his contributions to the sport which, I'm going to guess they don't hand out to everyone That being said yes I agree he was far from flawless also he was plagued by quite some injuries which didn't do him any favor in the ring.

When we talk about MMA, I think about things in terms of college majors and minors. You'll be best off majoring in the skills that you'll use the most, and minoring to fill the holes in your game. This will lead you to emphasize your boxing and wrestling, then to add muay thai and jiu jitsu. If I was doing Greco-Roman wrestling, though, I would emphasize Muay Thai clinchwork since they mesh so well.

Its not the athlete, the only reason any "dutch style" fighter survives against Thais is because there are no elbows, no clinch, no sweeps and the scoring is as basic as possible. There's a reason even if you take away half of the Thais weapons they still leather everyone and its their style.
Buakaw, Sittitchai, Petchpanomrung, Thongchai, Superbon, Tawanchai, Nong-O, Saenchai. Theyre on a different level to "dutch style."

Ever since I transitioned out of Wing Chun, I've been taking an amazing combination of striking arts that work really well together. I've been studying Muay Thai the longest, and it's a great close quarters striking system that I enhance with occasional trapping techniques and get around my opponents guard.
Then for mid-range I started studying Dutch style kickboxing, which is great for mid-range combos and really good hand techniques when kicking isn't very practical or higher risk (i.e. against grapplers)
Then I recently started taking Savate, which is awesome for kick variety and long range attacks. I'm still leaning the ins and outs of savate but so far it flows really nicely between the other striking arts. I'd like to eventually learn more grappling but I need to finish incorporating all of this together first.

I've trained both styles and did taekwondo all of them have their place. The Thai style felt like it was most effective overall but the Dutch style has better combos and taekwondo is great for tricking opponents and learning how to blitz in and out but the roundhouses and side kicks lack the same power as a Muay Thai round house or teep kick. It's really hard to say without a doubt what works best because they all have different strengths and weaknesses requiring different strategies.
