@@blackclover4375 in Muay Thai, experience is a huge advantage. So if you're still alive then in your 30s+ you're a killer. A lot of MMA fighters too hit their prime in their 30s and I've seen taekwon-do guys still dominating in their 30s.

Dude throws those kicks like that because his core and hips are strong, he's got power in there. The foot switches come into it cause his balance and sense for his body position is godlike, keeps his form solid even while he's moving around and changing his angles. His feet move then plant and it drives his kick, but once the kick is in he's on the move again. Insane numbers of kicks thrown to get there, and sheer natural talent being developed to its limit.

If Saenchai is 38 at the time of this video, he has literally 30 years of training and fights behind him.

first of all saechai is inarguably a great guy and humble beyond what a person with his status in the sports world could be...
second - he didn’t come up with any of that stuff and as with any other thing in the world he just combines it in his own way. he had great teachers and elders in his gyms and his style is pretty much based on theirs + boran techniques for folks like joe rogan to talk about.
third - if you follow muay thai closely you’ll know he’s way past his prime and also know he’s been out of the elite thai stadium circuit for a long long time now... he’s smart and knows his place in this day and age all too well.
not sure why i’m even writing this ahaha guess i just wish sometimes people with huge followings had more accurate information on the subjects they publicly discuss.

For Joe asking why MT isn't more popular, it's mostly due to how it's interconnected to the entire culture of Thailand, and they don't like opening it up to the world. They have their own tournaments, which for other sports would mean that if you win, you'd go and compete with other winners around the world, but not here. You win in Thailand, that's it, you're the best, you're waiting for a new season.

The way he blocks the opponents arm or moves it out of the way so he can get a clean strike reminds me of Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon with Ohura(white guy). You need to slow that footage down to see it.

I don’t think the general public appreciate the grappling and clinch work of Muay Thai and might find that part boring , similar to those who dont understand ground work , so I think this stops its popularity.

Muay Thai is not more popular I think because kicks and knees are not ideal choices for a street fight. That said, the muay thai fighters who I came across in gyms here are extremely impressive with their boxing, much more than I would have expected based on watching. As for what Senchai does, gyms in the U.S. do not seem to be able to teach that stuff for some reason. It's like they are closely guarded secrets.

If you want a true MT legend look at Samart Payakaroon. THe greatest MT fighter of all time and a world champion boxer. The ultimate counter puncher/kicker. He had Ali's defensive counter punching style combined with Tyson's offensive style. Mastered MT so well that he was able to incorporate unorthodox moves that no one else could pull off. A truly one of a kind fighter.

Saenchai kicks are not traditional Muy Thai. His distance is shorter and quicker almost like TKD sparring. He doesn't wind up his kicks and uses his feet dexterity and speed to counter and cut off opponents' attacks especially with that front kick, axe kick. Very TKDesque with Muy Thai power.
