Slay the Spire was the game that got me into roguelikes, I never would have considered straight-up SLAY THE SPIRE 2, but man I CANNOT wait!
This is Risk of Rain 2 all over again. No one expected them to just do another one and have it be insanely good. I hope the same applies here

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but I love these anime release trailers.
Especially when the game it's a sequel to is known for less-than-high-quality art (though I'm a huge fan of the kitsch factor for sure). AAA art quality will be a departure, but also potentially will help it stand out from its sibling (or parent?)

And more truly needs to be said about its art style, character design, and lore. It's so deliciously obscure and mysterious. Kind of makes me wish there was more media surrounding it that could explore that more.

In all seriousness though, if there's one area the original StS has been improved on by games it inspired, it's the worldbuilding.
@@NicD I actually really like Spire's storytelling. It's certainly understated, not at the forefront of the game, but what is there is very evocative, which is the most important thing for understated storytelling to be. The futility of your endless attempts to slay the Heart, the meaningless pain of finding the Book and yet the truth being unable to save you, the cynical laughter of the ghosts... all very well done.
@@laurelkeeper I don't disagree. When I first typed my above reply, it was about improving the "story", but that wasn't right, as there's a lot of drama around, even in your choice of cards. I changed it to "lore", but there's a lot of that too!
Hence "worldbuilding": there are a lot of interesting characters and interactions, but they don't build a cohesive world. This trailer alone does a lot of legwork just by showing the outskirts of the Spire!

It looks great you guys!! I can't wait to see what new stuff you have in store. Personally, I hope it's more than just new characters, cards, relics and enemies. I'm hoping to see more interesting mechanics, maybe some new way to explore and, this may be a lot, but I'm hoping for PvP. Maybe a feature that, when you die or beat the tower, you get the option to save the deck and face off using it against other players who got roughly as far as you did.
