Like 1 out of ever 1,000 is more of an actual review. At the same time, yeah... wattpad commenters be going wild... Ao3 is a little more... kalm. Also, on neither of those sites do you get reviews that actually offer constructive criticism very often. As a wattpad veteran, this is normal.I see cursed comments a lot to the point you also wanna open you skull to get your brain out and burn them. They can literally turn something so innocent and wholesome to…a nightmare
As a Wattpad Writer myself, I can confirm they are wild and random at the same time with a mix of hormones. And I somehow managed to make people simp for Y/n. Huh.
Sometimes, the comments is the reason why I click a wattpad fic. They provide comedic/meme/random comments while sometimes the comments on ao3 are like a block of words full of analysis of all the metaphors, imagery etc. that the author may or may not have included.
as someone who used to write on wattpad, whenever you check your notifications and scroll down through thirty of just the same person commenting, you know you're in for a treat.
One of my personal favorites is from myself because it scarred people for life. "If hats sit on heads, then that means Neville put his hand up the sorting hat's butt." My favorite reply "oh yeah, longbottom you get that sword" People started tagging FistTheHat
As a Wattpad reader, I can confirm that WAttpad comments are either unhinged, the most hilarious thing you can read, or make you question everything you've ever known. That or you actually learn something more than your ACTUAL SCHOOL.
Having written for a very infamous lesbian celebrity ship that's still kicking to this day on Wattpad, all the thirst from the comments had temporarily wiped my shamelessness. They sound like Satan fed them in the morning with cactus down their throats.
god, my days on wattpad were spent more so reading the comments and having weird conversations in them rather than anything to do with the actual fics the comments were on lmaoo
I've gotten into some weird comment chains on wattpad... One turned into a 2000+ comment war that lasted 9 months and ended in both sides agreeing to disagree I love my wattpad community so much
As someone who used to be a wattpad commenter, I can confirm that yes, these are pretty accurate representations of wattpad comments. Not all of them reach this level of craziness, but some do. I remember starting a thread about maggots once and it lead to someone replying that they saw a dead cat in their bathroom with maggots all over it as it was decomposing..... Hey, good thing about wattpad commenters is that I was able to make some friends and also got introduced to ao3.
I remember starting like 2-3 separate threads on how to brutality torture someone bc one of the characters, or multiple, were pieces of shit which then devolved into underground weapons trade esque role play thing
When I just got into fanfiction I was using Wattpad more and I had this interaction in the comment section of a fic, it was on a Sanders sides fic, and they used an algebra equation to say I love you to be like a cute, fluffy thing, someone in the comments was confused cuz they don't know algebra and then in the comment section of a fic I taught this random stranger how to solve an algebra equation
As a former Wattpader, I can confirm that these comments are just the usual for Wattpad. One time, one of my mutuals showed up late for a group roleplay and casually explained that the reason he was late was because he had to go to the ER because he had a testicular torsion.
have y'all read that one really famous wattpad comment on a larry fanfic- it says 'I"M CREAMING', and the author meant 'I'M SCREAMING', but missed out the s duh. there are like 600 replies or something, it's amazing lol
something similar happened on a fic i read in a different fandom. commenter said exactly that, i responded with something like "im sorry???" and they replied back with "i meant screaming. i hope" 💀
i still get notifications for wattpad comments i replied to like three years ago. it is kind of astonishing how many of them were hamilton lyric chains on completely unrelated fics...
“AAAAAAA MOCHA DADDY MILKERS” “*stabs physics* physics is dead” “Welcome to the madness. Where we’re all covered in someone else’s blood” These are but a few of the many comments I have seen on Wattpad
1:15 I had that exact comment on my story, too XD. Now I had to correct every instance of it to "heavy panting" or "heavy breathing" to prevent confusion. And whenever I use the word 'crown' to refer to the top of the head, people thought I meant a king's crown and get confused why a random person would wear a crown on his head. So I corrected almost every instance to just "head". Or when I explicitly refer to a character with words like 'lass' and 'she' and 'daughter', then people show up 30 chapters later saying they thought she was male all this time. I know most of us are non-natives but I can't help screaming internally like GET A DICTIONARY!!
I screenshot at least one comment on every Wattpad fic bc there’s always someone who either makes a reading mistake or has some extremely stupid shit to say, and I’m there for it 🤩
I moved from Wattpad to Ao3 for my stories, but a thing I miss about Wattpad is how much fun people can have in the comments. On Ao3, no fun. No fun for you.
dude wattpad comments sections are one of the only things that get me wheezing till my stomach hurts. i don’t even go on it for the stories i’m just there for the comments
As a Wattpad writer I can certainly say there are a few gems on my stories Especially when someone read "touring" into "torturing" funnily enough, the character that was doing the touring, could and would torture someone-
Lmao i've been using wattpad for majority of my fanfic days, and good lord the comments are always so wild, to the point i screenshot the best ones every time 💀
As someone who frequently writes on Ao3 and Wattpad I can say without a doubt the stupidest comments come from Wattpad XD Though the worst I've personally got is someone correcting me on a detail I wrote in a fanfic from 5 years prior - and then someone else two years after that adding to that correction like I actually FREAKING CARE ANYMORE XD Though some of the comments I've come across while reading left me...VERY CONFUSED XD But also dying of laughter for reasons I couldn't quite fathom.
“This chapter made my migraine 10x worse. You know it’s quality writing when it can f*ck you up into partial blindness” That comment got me laughin, 10/10 would laugh again.
One time I ended up reading a fanfic for An Inspector Calls by JB Priestly but Gerald and Eric were brothers for some reason but they were also in love (it was weird) and one of the comments said “I'M SHITTING ENGLISH LIT TEACHERS”
oh the things I’ve seen having written successful fanfics with lots of angst… People are messed up and know a little too much about how to dispose bodies with bugs…
Song lyrics are the backbone of Wattpad comments. Also, there was this one time I was reading a KiriBaku fanfic on Wattpad, and Kirishima was crying because of a movie he and Bakugo were watching. Someone commented, "are they watching a movie where a dog dies? :(", and I replied with, "nah, they watching Shigaraki's backstory" I completely forgot I commented that. That's not even the worst one. I was reading another fanfic, an MHA oc fanfic, and it was the oc trying to answer homework questions from Midnight's class, and they said, "Why does Midnight always pick such hard questions?", and someone commented, "Cause she makes people hard- ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° " Wattpad comments will be the death of me, but it's definitely worth it.
The one time I went to Wattpad, it was because I had heard of a Kiribaku fic with Kirishima working at a bakery. I didn't think of how it could turn, nor do I now see how anything bakery-specific could be used that way. Needless to say, it turned out to be the average Wattpad fic, and I swore off Wattpad that day. I didn't look at the comments, but I would bet some would have been gems in their own right.
I mean in one story I wrote ages ago (in wattpad) people were talking how they had killed their cacti in the comments and I was so confused and it was still very mild when you can get some wild stuff
I remember one time someone one Wattpad renamed their username after the story (which isn't actually uncommon) but instead chose the inside joke of "D*ckinColby" since the main character's last name was Dickinson and his boyfriend's name was Colby. They got a chapter dedicated to them once. Truly remarkable stuff. I love Wattpad sometimes.
i was reading a wattpad story the other day and somebody described a character as the equivalent to the mud on the bottom of a girl who drinks pumpkin spice lattes boots. I have no idea what they meant, but I do.
True story: I once received a comment on a chapter depicting an abusive relationship that was something to the effect of "the victim is a problem and him allowing this abuse to happen is making the abuser's mental state worse!!" When I engaged in conversation trying to explain that, oops, abuse causes ~*trauma*~ and also this child is being psychologically manipulated into accepting abuse, this commenter responded with, AND I QUOTE: "I guess I don't believe in psychological manipulation. :P" LIKE HONEY??? I'M SORRY BUT REFUSING TO BELIEVE IN GASLIGHTING DOESN'T MAKE IT MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR??? ALSO HUH????? (disclaimer ya girl was not good at writing this relationship back when this exchange happened and i'm gonna rewrite this whole dang book because boy howdy did i make a lot of mistakes with delicately handling a really heavy and difficult topic but STILL i have NEVER forgotten this exchange. wattpad is WILD.)
I like to intentionally go to bad stories clearly written by depressed twelve year olds specifically to laugh at the comments. They are sooo mean but sooo accurate, it's my favourite pastime
Okay. Ao3 is the chill and nice friend who gives out detailed summary on why they something. And then there's wattpad, being a chaotic simp, a barking machine, a warehouse of smut, y/n fics, fan fiction with barely any spell checks, would agree to become a servant (idk now, maybe a dog at this point) for hot ppl that don't exist, write actually great plot stories in comments (only they don't have the motivation to do anything), slow updaters, and the list goes on :)
wattpad comments give me so much life tbh. I recently read two fanfics, stayed up till like 1 am reading, and maybe it was just my late night hyper ass but those comments😂I CANT LMAO THEY WERE WAY TOO FUNNY I HAD TO HOLD IN MY BREATH SO MANY TIMES MY PARENTS ARE LIGHT SLEEPERS LMAOAOAOA
I remember that I had been reading a hp fic and there was mention of filch dating umbridge and someone said they had read a smut of the two of them together it was the most horrifying/entertaining wattpad convo I have ever read
The main difference between wattpad and ao3 comments is that wattpad comments are either funny, or they are so horrendous that they make you question your life choises. Ao3 comments are 3 to 10 paragraphs pulling apart the charpter, saying everything they liked, theorizing differents things that could happen and maybe correcting a few grammatical mistakes in the nicest way possible, and they are just so full of support that they make you want to cry.
AO3 comments = OMG this fic was amazing, your attention to detail was great, and oh my god DRAMA can't wait for the next chapter this was so cute I normally don't like _insert thing here_ but WOW awesome writing Fanfic net comments = oh god can't wait for the next chapter! I’ve seen the comment at 1:43. It’s from “101 Writing Tips from an Exhausted Reivewer”. Her comment section is always fun to browse!
As a wattpad veteran, this is normal.I see cursed comments a lot to the point you also wanna open you skull to get your brain out and burn them. They can literally turn something so innocent and wholesome to…a nightmare
That is true. So very true
yes. very true
As a Wattpad Writer myself, I can confirm they are wild and random at the same time with a mix of hormones.
And I somehow managed to make people simp for Y/n. Huh.
THE CHOSEN ONE? huh, Weird
holy shit- simping for y/n... now that's something new
link?
You managed to make people simp for Y/N?
Guys, we’re witnessing right now the power of a god
id love to see that fic i want to know how you did it
Sometimes, the comments is the reason why I click a wattpad fic. They provide comedic/meme/random comments while sometimes the comments on ao3 are like a block of words full of analysis of all the metaphors, imagery etc. that the author may or may not have included.
I think the bookmarks on ao3 can be entertaining sometimes tho. But they'll never come close to wattpad
I haven't seen many paragraphs like that. I've seen a few and they're cocksucking bad writing.
the last time i went on wattpad i clicked on a Mario/Sonic smutfic just to read the comments and make a few of my own

dont be shy drop the link 👀
as someone who used to write on wattpad, whenever you check your notifications and scroll down through thirty of just the same person commenting, you know you're in for a treat.
6:59 THIS ONE FUCKING ENDED ME ASHDJFGKL
man i miss making friends with funny commenters on wattpad. i got married 4 times thanks to them and now have 3 kids and a hamster.

One of my personal favorites is from myself because it scarred people for life. "If hats sit on heads, then that means Neville put his hand up the sorting hat's butt." My favorite reply "oh yeah, longbottom you get that sword"
People started tagging FistTheHat
Harry did it to in 2nd Year to get the sword to kill the Basilisk.
😂
😭😭😭
Y is this something that would happen tho
😂😂😂
As a Wattpad reader, I can confirm that WAttpad comments are either unhinged, the most hilarious thing you can read, or make you question everything you've ever known. That or you actually learn something more than your ACTUAL SCHOOL.
5:44 The fact I recognize/know this person from their profile is scary
Sometimes the comments are better than the story ngl
as a commenter, can confirm. once a writer even agreed with someone my comments were the highlight of the story
True, true
Having written for a very infamous lesbian celebrity ship that's still kicking to this day on Wattpad, all the thirst from the comments had temporarily wiped my shamelessness. They sound like Satan fed them in the morning with cactus down their throats.
My mind immediately went to Kaylor as I read this...
Link??
I love how this whole channel is a bunch of ao3 users looking at fandoms and fanfic sites just being like “holy I’m glad I’m not them”
god, my days on wattpad were spent more so reading the comments and having weird conversations in them rather than anything to do with the actual fics the comments were on lmaoo
I've gotten into some weird comment chains on wattpad...
One turned into a 2000+ comment war that lasted 9 months and ended in both sides agreeing to disagree
I love my wattpad community so much
As someone who stopped reading fanfiction on Wattpad for a while, this is pretty interesting because I've never seen comments like that before! XD
YEA! I’m more of an ao3 gal but whenever I see wattpad comments on twitter I just cry. They’re so funny
SAME 😭😭 the crack fics and comments are the only reason I still use wattlad
As someone who used to be a wattpad commenter, I can confirm that yes, these are pretty accurate representations of wattpad comments. Not all of them reach this level of craziness, but some do. I remember starting a thread about maggots once and it lead to someone replying that they saw a dead cat in their bathroom with maggots all over it as it was decomposing..... Hey, good thing about wattpad commenters is that I was able to make some friends and also got introduced to ao3.
yeah same and we were always running out of duct tape :kel_pensive:
I remember having 200+ replies on how i audition as a rat💀
I remember starting like 2-3 separate threads on how to brutality torture someone bc one of the characters, or multiple, were pieces of shit which then devolved into underground weapons trade esque role play thing
I saw a Wattpad chain of just "nice c0ck 😂" I'm pretty sure that chain went on for like a year or so
I'm stuck in a thread where there are about 700+ replies for randomness.
"I want that Twink obliterated" I'm sure I wrote something like that in Wattpad too
I've seen a person comment on a wattpad story 'the audacity is as thick as my ass' 😭
I’m just impressed by the fact that your arm can hold the camera at that angle for that long..
One time, one of my mutuals showed up late for a group roleplay and casually explained that the reason he was late was because he had to go to the ER because he had a testicular torsion.
have y'all read that one really famous wattpad comment on a larry fanfic- it says 'I"M CREAMING', and the author meant 'I'M SCREAMING', but missed out the s duh. there are like 600 replies or something, it's amazing lol
something similar happened on a fic i read in a different fandom. commenter said exactly that, i responded with something like "im sorry???" and they replied back with "i meant screaming. i hope" 💀
As a Wattpader, I can confirm Wattpad comments are like a gold mine.
i still get notifications for wattpad comments i replied to like three years ago. it is kind of astonishing how many of them were hamilton lyric chains on completely unrelated fics...
Dude mini wattpad fandoms for authors are the best things ever. So many inside jokes and hamilton refrences…
“AAAAAAA MOCHA DADDY MILKERS”
“*stabs physics* physics is dead”
“Welcome to the madness. Where we’re all covered in someone else’s blood”
These are but a few of the many comments I have seen on Wattpad
2:30 shut up shut up shut up shut up ✋😭 not me having 3 miku posters on my angled ceiling nooooo 😭💀💀
Hell yeah they are wilder than Australia with wildlife
It's even worse when there's a crowd of Aussies on a comment thread on Wattpad
I read "wildfire" 😭
@@alvarocostaalves me too omg
...as a pound Australian.. i am offended.
As an Australian who had a wattpad phase, I can 100% confirm
As a Wattpad commentor, I can say that we sometimes creates chain of comments that makes a fanfiction inside the fanfiction.
As someone who is one wattpad everyday the comments are just pure chaos and I love it.
dude wattpad comments sections are one of the only things that get me wheezing till my stomach hurts. i don’t even go on it for the stories i’m just there for the comments
As a Wattpad writer I can certainly say there are a few gems on my stories
Especially when someone read "touring" into "torturing"
funnily enough, the character that was doing the touring, could and would torture someone-
I am 100% sure that the "I want that twink obliterated" comment was about Oikawa
Dont fight me on this IM RIGHT
No because like, i don't even use wattpad, but if that comment isn't about Oikawa then I don't want to know because yes it is
That's a line from marvel comics, Empyre.
tbh i think i remember reading that comment on an iwaoi story ngl
6:08 that person will never recover once they get to the part of the fanfic where they find out what it truly means 💀
Lmao i've been using wattpad for majority of my fanfic days, and good lord the comments are always so wild, to the point i screenshot the best ones every time 💀
0:23 actually, we're just high on wattpad
This is what happens when you let high people go wild on comment sections, and I live for it.
As someone who frequently writes on Ao3 and Wattpad I can say without a doubt the stupidest comments come from Wattpad XD Though the worst I've personally got is someone correcting me on a detail I wrote in a fanfic from 5 years prior - and then someone else two years after that adding to that correction like I actually FREAKING CARE ANYMORE XD
Though some of the comments I've come across while reading left me...VERY CONFUSED XD But also dying of laughter for reasons I couldn't quite fathom.
“This chapter made my migraine 10x worse. You know it’s quality writing when it can f*ck you up into partial blindness”
That comment got me laughin, 10/10 would laugh again.
One time I ended up reading a fanfic for An Inspector Calls by JB Priestly but Gerald and Eric were brothers for some reason but they were also in love (it was weird) and one of the comments said “I'M SHITTING ENGLISH LIT TEACHERS”
oh the things I’ve seen having written successful fanfics with lots of angst…
People are messed up and know a little too much about how to dispose bodies with bugs…
Song lyrics are the backbone of Wattpad comments.
Also, there was this one time I was reading a KiriBaku fanfic on Wattpad, and Kirishima was crying because of a movie he and Bakugo were watching. Someone commented, "are they watching a movie where a dog dies? :(", and I replied with,
"nah, they watching Shigaraki's backstory"
I completely forgot I commented that.
That's not even the worst one.
I was reading another fanfic, an MHA oc fanfic, and it was the oc trying to answer homework questions from Midnight's class, and they said, "Why does Midnight always pick such hard questions?", and someone commented,
"Cause she makes people hard-
͡° ͜ʖ ͡° "
Wattpad comments will be the death of me, but it's definitely worth it.
I have a Wattpad account and I can say the comments I've read are real wild.
Even ones people leave in my books make me laugh😂
I remember one time someone one Wattpad renamed their username after the story (which isn't actually uncommon) but instead chose the inside joke of "D*ckinColby" since the main character's last name was Dickinson and his boyfriend's name was Colby.
They got a chapter dedicated to them once. Truly remarkable stuff. I love Wattpad sometimes.
Wattpad comments are mostly either vents or jokes but sometime you find true masterpieces
all fanfiction readers are a different breed fr no matter what platform we are a different breed
and meanwhile there's people who linger in ao3, wattpad and more
i was reading a wattpad story the other day and somebody described a character as the equivalent to the mud on the bottom of a girl who drinks pumpkin spice lattes boots.
I have no idea what they meant, but I do.
The fact there's no context to this makes it 100× better-
Also, I *love* the Akaashi "Oya?" Sweater ♡♡
1:08 that profile image is perfect with that comment.
True story: I once received a comment on a chapter depicting an abusive relationship that was something to the effect of "the victim is a problem and him allowing this abuse to happen is making the abuser's mental state worse!!"
When I engaged in conversation trying to explain that, oops, abuse causes ~*trauma*~ and also this child is being psychologically manipulated into accepting abuse, this commenter responded with, AND I QUOTE: "I guess I don't believe in psychological manipulation. :P"
LIKE HONEY??? I'M SORRY BUT REFUSING TO BELIEVE IN GASLIGHTING DOESN'T MAKE IT MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR??? ALSO HUH?????
(disclaimer ya girl was not good at writing this relationship back when this exchange happened and i'm gonna rewrite this whole dang book because boy howdy did i make a lot of mistakes with delicately handling a really heavy and difficult topic but STILL i have NEVER forgotten this exchange. wattpad is WILD.)
My personal favorite from my Wattpad days is ""Damn!" the kits cheered." (On a Warriors fic, for context.)
1:22 Well, maybe she did mean heavy trousers.
Maybe a character was using a chainsaw and was wearing the correct PPE.
AO3 comments = OMG this fic was amazing, your attention to detail was great, and oh my god DRAMA can't wait for the next chapter this was so cute I normally don't like _insert thing here_ but WOW awesome writing
Fanfic net comments = oh god can't wait for the next chapter! OMG This deserves more love than it's been getting. It's very well-written.
Wattpad comments = What is happening? I have NO idea.
TRUE AS FUCK
The cracked head of the fanfiction family
tbh i'm basically an ao3 commenter with wattpad commenter energy
I once saw a 10k words on Wattpad. That person was literally describing many forms of torture
What was the fic
The fact that I know most of those comments and even replied to some makes thus better
