The Canik TP9SF Elite. This one caught me by surprise. Frankly I was convinced into doing this review, and it turns out I really liked this pistol from Canik. Especially at the price point around sub $400, this pistol is loaded with cool features.

@@1911syndicate Just to give you a bit more info, Canik is used by the Turkish military and I believe they were originally based off of Walther P99 frames. I think they're also pronounced Cha-nick but who gives a fuck about that. I own a TP9 V2 which is practically a dinosaur compared to their newer iterations but they are very well known for their reliability in military trials. Fairly sure they were also a finalist in a Danish military requisition competition.

@@duncanmackay1215 SAR (Sarsilmaz) is mainly used by the Turkish military and police, Canik is used by Turkish police and Filipino police. You're right about the TP9 originally being based on the Walther platform. And yeah, they were among the Top-4 Finalists for the Danish Army.
Sar's bigger government contracts is what's been suggested is why Canik has focused more on the private market, but I don't get why Girsan and TITAS (the other two TR handgun makers) have been lagging behind. They need to improve their marketing and sales.

When I bought it, it was on a whim and for the price I figured what the heck if it sucks, at that price no biggie. It has been a solid shooter and is my EDC. The most accurate and reliable out of the box....absolutely no FTF or FTE, no break in period at all, just cleaned etc. before shooting. I believe at about 500 rounds? that hitch hitch break just flat out disappeared. When shooting alongside my Hi Power Mk3, my full size 320/9, sig p226 etc etc, you get the idea, the accuracy of this pistol is the same as the others. My buddy, a competition shooter and bullseye shooter, we get curious about inherent accuracy etc of toys. We try to eliminate as many variables as possible. We shoot standing, or on bag. Range distance varies etc. We were both shocked with the TP9SA first gen I acquired. Thought it was just a truck gun.

Just got my TP9SF Elite a week ago. I was looking for a first handgun and had shot several Glocks, Sigs, S&W, etc. One of the RSOs carries a Canik and was raving about it. They have a TP9SF Elite available to rent and after shooting it once, I knew I’d found my gun. My wife was looking for a handgun as well, and always turned her nose up at the Canik over the made in Turkey thing (she’s an Sig girl). I had her try the Canik, and she had to admit the trigger was nice. With tax, I believe I paid around $450 for my Elite, which was a bit less than the P365 my wife got the same day. I have absolutely NO regrets buying this gun. Just need to find a decent holster now.

Bought mine slightly used (basically brand new) from a gun shop in a neighboring state for $400 and paid $75 to a local FFL where I live to import it. Cost $110 for an Olight Baldr Mini. Paid the FFL’s gunsmith $280 to modify the slide to mount a Holosun 507C green dot, which cost $319 on sale. Got a metal backstrap and magwell and mag pads for another $180. Extra 15 round mag cost $38. The slide was too stiff so I switched out the recoil spring for about $25. It came with a huge plastic holster but I needed a real one that fit the gun at a cost of about $85. Love the trigger as-is. Buttery smooth. Best $1200 plus or minus budget pistol on the market! Comes with a free plastic box and a bristle brush. Found the owner’s manual online and printed a copy.
