You're right about the TP9 originally being based on the Walther platform. And yeah, they were among the Top-4 Finalists for the Danish Army. Sar's bigger government contracts is what's been suggested is why Canik has focused more on the private market, but I don't get why Girsan and TITAS (the other two TR handgun makers) have been lagging behind. I do like your review! I have a Canik TP9SF Elite and bought it a year ago for $329. When I bought it, it was on a whim and for the price I figured what the heck if it sucks, at that price no biggie. It has been a solid shooter and is my EDC. It shoots better and more accurate than my $1,600 Glock 17 race gun. So far, it has been bullet proof.
Picked up the all black One model of this with one mag for $274 out the door today at Academy. Couldn't pass up a deal like that plus it just feels good and solid in the hand. Good unbiased review.
Bought one of these and shot it for the first time yesterday. The most accurate and reliable out of the box....absolutely no FTF or FTE, no break in period at all, just cleaned etc. before shooting. The only thing close were Sigs 220's and 226's of 30 years ago. Many weapons of all makes and calibers over the years and this Canik at around $400.00 out shoots and is totally reliable out of the box....as accurate as my Sigs( now classics).

Just got my TP9SF Elite a week ago. I was looking for a first handgun and had shot several Glocks, Sigs, S&W, etc. One of the RSOs carries a Canik and was raving about it. They have a TP9SF Elite available to rent and after shooting it once, I knew I’d found my gun. My wife was looking for a handgun as well, and always turned her nose up at the Canik over the made in Turkey thing (she’s an Sig girl). I had her try the Canik, and she had to admit the trigger was nice. With tax, I believe I paid around $450 for my Elite, which was a bit less than the P365 my wife got the same day. I have absolutely NO regrets buying this gun. Just need to find a decent holster now.
I can think of some pretty original thoughts, like those of people who completely made up stuff about it passing through metal detectors. People who have only ever shot glocks don’t deserve an opinion. But yes, there is an appreciable difference between glocks and other guns. You’re not special.

Bought mine slightly used (basically brand new) from a gun shop in a neighboring state for $400 and paid $75 to a local FFL where I live to import it. Cost $110 for an Olight Baldr Mini. Paid the FFL’s gunsmith $280 to modify the slide to mount a Holosun 507C green dot, which cost $319 on sale. Got a metal backstrap and magwell and mag pads for another $180. Extra 15 round mag cost $38. The slide was too stiff so I switched out the recoil spring for about $25. It came with a huge plastic holster but I needed a real one that fit the gun at a cost of about $85. Love the trigger as-is. Buttery smooth. Best $1200 plus or minus budget pistol on the market! "Cheap budget guns"... that are better shooters and more reliable/better made then "premium" guns like the total POS M&P (the Canik triggers are FAR better and the M&P you have buy a WHOLE new trigger...) and modern SIG garbage. @@michaelhill4015 Don't sweat the hate...you'll soon confirm the TP9sfx is indeed a pretty nice gun and shoots like a dream. I can confirm.
I mean, you can visually see and feel fit and finish. But that’s just cosmetics. What matters is that the gun works and works well.
The Canik TP9...brought to you by the makers of Thanksgiving dinner.
Boom. Gobble
@@1911syndicate this comment reminds me of the little girl from autumn's armory when she realized it was made in turkey!!! Lmao
Maybe special forces do use it.... they probably use it in the covert black market eagle operations.
Lol
SF = stricker Fire
For under 400 bucks and even 350 sometimes. Not a better gun for the money unless you get a p10f for 310 bucks after tax new like I just did lol
TGC sent me. Nicely Done.
Thank ya sir
I gave 380 for mine
You ain't gonna find one of these for $430 right now. A lot of stores are marking them up to over $100 over MSRP
Bought one last week for $350 at a LGS...
Walked out the door here in MA for $462.50. Now just gotta find some ammo!
Online right now for $329!
TGC sent me over... subscribed..
Let’s do it
Keep doggin. He is just bein a dawgie, he seems to listen and mind pretty well. If you do feel the need to "send him off to live on a farm" Im lookin for a "Mel-un-wah".
Nice guy, too many bunny trails.
SF= Striker Fired
I paid $250 for mine pre-corona
Honestly my biggest complaint with this gun was the mag well, Idk why, but this gun in particular was just the end of me when it came to reloads, however I’m sure someone has already designed a 3D printable flair
Taylor Freelance has a magwell for this that has good reviews. I'll be picking one up soon.
Oh my god he’s going to kill the dog…
This could & should have been a 10 minute video.
Don’t shoot the dog!
4 MINUTES AND YOU NOT EVEN START TALKING ABOUT THE GUN MAAAAAAN
Yep welcome to the show
Nah, Vermont is the importer, Turkey is the manufacturer.
Sorry to tell you this but you are leaning away from the target. If you lean towards the target your accuracy will improve.
I LOVE MINE👍
Too much talky not enough shooty.
Keep the 🐕
Where Glock Made???????????????????????/🤐
Wow you compared ot to hi point .... you might as well compared it to a shitty stick
America.
Thats not just a dog, its a malinois...
During the watching of this video I took my soldering iron and made in Turkey disappeared along with read the manual. I really like canik pistols.
Learn to keep your thumbs out of the way
"Cheap budget guns"... that are better shooters and more reliable/better made then "premium" guns like the total POS M&P (the Canik triggers are FAR better and the M&P you have buy a WHOLE new trigger...) and modern SIG garbage. Canik is up there with CZ and Glock in my carry line-up and of the 12 different examples I own I;ve never had a single failure. Can't say that about the 2 garbage M&P's I owned.
Lmao, what caliber M&P’s? Sure their triggers aren’t great and they’ve had some lemons. Same can be said for SIG and CZ’s. I have a CZ P-09 and I absolutely loathe it compared to some M&P’s I’ve shot.
