It won't be beneficial because if I talk about northern part of western mumbai if will see too much crowd to cover this much crowd they will require more than 200 machines at single station and also they will have to make seperate way to put those machines .Here surrounding space is not much to let everyone to go .

Sir metro is also used by middle class people, and they have no issue with using the automated ticket checking system. So, I don't think their would be an issue. The largest issue is the opposition from the Railway union, which needs to be ignored. The IR needs to go ahead with the process of automation.

      My India in 1835Read Carefully
"I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage and therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation."
Lord Macaulay's Address to the British Parliament on 2nd Feb. 1835
*We must at present do our best to form a class who may be interpreters between us and the millions whom we govern; a class of persons, Indian in blood and colour, but English in taste, in opinions, in morals, and in intellect. To that class we may leave it to refine the vernacular dialects of the country, to enrich those dialects with terms of science borrowed from the Western nomenclature, and to render them by degrees fit vehicles for conveying knowledge to the great mass of the population. - macaulay
*Commenting on the objective of colonial education in Africa, Nelson Mandela remarked thus36:
The educated Englishman was our model; what we aspired to be were 'black Englishmen'. We were taught and believed- that the best ideas were English ideas, the best government was English government, and the best men were Englishmen.

This has been in my mind for a long time.. i wish to see this change in Indian railways. It's definitely doable. We should first barricade the entire area of major stations.. second, train doors should be opened/closed at respective stations only so that even in case of chain pulling, no unauthorised person can entry/exit from a train. We need more and more vande Bharat trains to help this entire system. It may take years but in return, Indian railways well be very profitable.

This systems can be easily implemented in Mumbai suburban railway station

  • @KanishQQuotes
    @KanishQQuotes ปีที่แล้ว +57

This can be done in at least Delhi where the 4 major railway stations , new Delhi , old Delhi, Nizamuddin , and anand vihar are all well connected by metro.
Delhi metro has really made a difference in the culture of this city.
However the railway itself needs to be developed and expanded .
The freight corridor will help in separating the freight trains , so passenger capacity can increase.
Big cities also need dedicated suburban train lines instead of the hotchpotch we get, where daily commuters often hijack long distance trains.
Delhi suburban train system is desperate for an upgrade because the network is there, coverage is there , but the the trains aren't run with enough frequency , there's even a local train station close to Delhi Airport

They can be run like metro where the particular platform is for the local train only.
That will surely fix a lot of things for Indian railway

In Foreign Countries, the entry into Railway Platform is restricted only to travellers with valid travel tickets like what we have in Metro Stations. The stalls, restaurants etc. are available only in the concourse areas only and not on platforms. Hence the concourse areas are heavily crowded and railway platforms are less crowded. Most of the long distance trains have restaurant cars and hence there is no need to have stalls on railway platforms. This system also reduces ticketless travel on trains. We are still in the Colonial Era and lack the will to come out of our past.

It is achievable and we should do the following things considering good for all the people
    1. Make big walls at the end of platforms and walls on side of first and last platforms at all railway stations in country and recruit rpf to do patrolling at both ends of all the platforms 24X7 so that no person enters through the tracks.
    2. Make designated entry doors like airports and exit doors where RPF/TC checks the ticket as well as the ID as this will ensure that there is no opposition of the unions.
    3. To address the issue of general tickets they shouldn't be sold above a limit ie there are 180 seats in a general coach so max tickets sold per coach shouldn't be more than 200 considering few people can stand or adjust and the sale of tickets should happen outside the railway station not inside.

    But my question is
If we only implement ticket checking system at the entrance how will that be effective actual coaches like if someone has borrowed ticket of sleeper class they can enter ac coaches if we do not have manual ticket checkkers.. so this is a big issue why Indian railways cannot implement automated system for ticket checking at the entrance.. infact in metro we have that entrance ticket checking system because metro has only 1 type of coach for all ticket holders and passengers

If it was done it will be gud let's hope it will implement in coming years

To an extent, travelling without ticket and giving TC some money to get an un-assigned/missing passenger seat is necessary.
There are so many instances I know where it has saved people's lives/hleped in some very needing times.
But if the TC forcefully adds extra passenger on the same seat then that's an issue.

I think there is a simple solution
Automate the Entry-Exit, but keep the TC for in-train checking, to ensure people aren't "voluntarily" upgrading themselves to higher class.
This will not take away any work from the TCs, but will make the travel process easy.
But the only issue I see with Railways is the Coolie issue, if we prevent free entry-exit.
They're charging grossly high prices these days, like ~1000 Rupees, or more for just 1-2 bags. Usually all the relatives come to assist in the baggage handling lol.
So platform ticket should be very readily available through QR, like in Hyderabad/Delhi Metro tickets.
Or..... Make railway stations accessible, with multiple lifts, escalators, travellators, and better platform surfaces which won't break the suitcase wheels, if we're dragging.

Cause just like you told Discipline , Literacy and Finance are the biggest obstacles then Its ultimate solution and Parallel at the same time too Cause in Tier-1 Cities Peoples Literacy , Discipline and Finance are average better than others ,, and same apply 2 ,,, 3 ,,, RURAL.

    2. remove the sleeper trains which travels in morning and replace with Seating trains and trains should not travel more than 12hrs from one destination to other destination.
3.Bring the punctuality in trains and implement the QR scanning and don't let public to enter into stations before 30min of departure.
    4. Tickets should not be released before 1 week of travel and keep the tatkal system open for 7days so that there will not be flooding of people on sites.
    5. don't operate a trains without proper ticketing as it is leading to robbery, safety of passengers and improve the train signaling system.

But rather keep automated ticket checking machines beside the doors of coaches and automated doors which only opens if the ticket is validated.

Rather than having ticket verifying machines at the gates of the railway station , we can not put it at the doors of the train. It will come with its own sets of challenges like maintenance and delays in boarding time resulting in train delays (which I guess is solvable over a period of time if citizens are to inculcate more civic sense) , but it will not require an infrastructure overhaul for all the railway stations in the country . What are your thoughts ?
