Its funny how most of the time The Gems assume Homeworld is always after them and they turn out to be wrong. Aquamarine is such a sassy character, she should've won an award for having the best smug face in Steven Universe.
I mean when you think about it they are but aren’t. Home-world thinks they died but if they ever find out someone survived they will be after them immediately

Man, the twist of them using the list of people Steven gave Peridot in season 1 was not only MIND BLOWING back when this episode aired, it's also just absolutely crazy as a plot device. I know you're in season 5 but I hope you understand now why we've been hyping up these episodes.
I'm still in shock. I still remember the feeling of "wow, they did not just do that." and pausing the episode just to stare, mouth agape at the screen. 😂
i remember rewatching that specific episode a lil before this arc aired and thinking “kinda weird how peridot had all this info on steven and never really used it or mentioned it again”… i still didnt connect the dots until aquamarine said “peridot 5xg” and my heart dropped 😭
I get why they are disappointed in Lars for not helping Sadie, but Topaz is a strong gem and she's huge compared to him and Lars is a human and understandably scared of her. So him freaking out and hiding is completely understandable even if it seems messed up.
Scoots attention to detail sometimes is just! There's not many reactors out there who noticed both the fact that Aquamarine was looking for Greg when she said "my dad" and also caught onto the fact that Lars was still on the ship at the end of the last episode.

Seeing Steven go through all that turmoil just so he can save his friends and family. It’s hard to believe he’s only 14. I love these eps so much. The next ones are even better. Homeworld is a doozy of a place. A surprising US season finale! Season 5 is goated IMO. Get ready!
I'll always love how season 4 ending goes from "hehe Onion oh you're so funny" and "oooh Ube roll yum yum" to "let's almost kill Jamie and have Steven give himself up to dictators"
Just for clarification, Aquamarines are different gems than Lapises and serve different purposes. Aquamarines can't really "control" water like Lapises but their wand makes up for it as they can dismantle fusions and control its target. I assume not all Aquamarines are high priority or powerful like this one.
If I'm not mistaken, the wand is not Aquamarine's own weapon; it was granted to her. Her small attributes with water would be her "real weapon."
I always assumed aquamarines were like, the navy seals of gem society given how big a deal Pearl implies they are.
Aquamarines are like the Diamonds' assistants. They go fetch them whatever they want and/or need. That's the reason why they are high-ranking Gems who have elite soldiers like Topazes under their command. Because Aquamarines are not fighting-type Gems, they are equiped with wand-like weapons so they can defend themselves and capture anyone or anything that become a target and/or an obstacle to their mission.
I think there’s probably not very many aquamarine like how there’s so many Pearl but only 4 diamonds
@@Aardydarling Just because this Aquamarine works directly to the Diamonds, it doesn't mean she is the only Aquamarine to do it. After all, the Diamonds are able to replace Gems when they can't do their jobs properly. Not just that, but there are many other Gems that are even above Aquamarines in the hierarchy, like army commanders, such as Emeralds and Garnets. So they may also have Aquamarines working for them. And most likely they are also below aristocratic gems, such as Sapphires and Morganites. It's the same with Pearls who are given to high-class gems, not just diamonds, and are easily replaced.
So the original idea was that SU was meant to have 6 seasons.
But duo to a lot of themes that the show has in it, CN has been trying to cancel it out since around season 3, but the show was still making numbers for them, alongside Rebecca's protest against it (Rebecca being the main creator and writer of Steven Universe), around that time, they also gave her the permission to make the movie.
However duo to a certain episode in season 5, CN finally went on and decided to cancel the show but they allowed them to have 5 final episodes to wrap it all up.
However thanks to the sucess of the series still alongside the sucess of the movie.
They gave the show at least 20 final episodes which resulted in future.
This is a big summary from the whole story since I didn't want to spoil anything or over explain it, but this is the true of what happen and Rebecca's own words about it.

God, the "Did they specify.. alive? I think not" and the way Jamie looks when Topaz grabs his head gives me chills every time, it's so messed up, I love it!
I love how Mr. Maheswaran pulled a prank. When you look back at how tense things were when Steven and Connie first met, and when their families had dinner, to now where both families have this sense of humor, it’s really sweet. Between how Mrs. Maheswaran was a bit more relaxed with rules for Connie, and her father can be a bit of a jokester, it shows Steven’s had a good impact on the family’s dynamic and helping Connie too.
OK so, here's what actually happened according to Rebecca Sugar: There was something the show creators wanted to do that was very controversial w/CN leadership. Sugar fought hard and got the go ahead to do it, but the higher ups also said it would put the possibility of a sixth season in serious jeopardy. Sugar successfully campaigned to get an extra few episodes for season 5 instead, so that they could wrap up the story without gambling on an iffy renewal. ...and then that renewal happened anyway, for a movie and another season, which became Future.
why Steven Universe Future could be made:
after SU got canceled Rebecca got them to extend the fifth season so they could wrap things up better, and later she suggested the movie, which was greenlit. Then suddenly Cartoon Network wanted the show to continue as there's apparently no point to a movie unless it existed to promote more show.
so there were more episodes after all, but after the main series already ended with the episode count it had, and after events of the movie. a very perplexing situation lol, but i personally love 'Future'.
Season 4’s finale really showed just how much the CGs had no shot against Homeworld. Every encounter they had since Lapis back in season 1-while her gem was cracked-has just lead to all these encounters stockpiling.
-Lapis fled to HomeWorld, Peridot started getting intel and sending it to higher ups.
-They broke Peri’s devices enough times, Jasper came to stomp them out.
-Lapis warned the CGs about HomeWorld’s advancements since neither of them had been there after more than 5,000 years. Garnet and Pearl didn’t realize how much technology had advanced since the war, so Jasper got the upper on Garnet by using the destabilizer and poofing her.
-Jasper gets stuck in a fusion with Lapis for months, the Rubies come down by Yellow Diamond’s request to pick her up. The Rubies had to be misdirected into the solar system TWICE, and even after they were scattered from the Moon Base the 2nd time, one recovering their ship meant they could rat us out.
-The Cluster was only bubbled, leading to the Diamonds to come down to get more humans for the Human Zoo, thus abducting Greg.
They’ve hardly ever beaten an adversary, merely put a pin in the matter to come back later. Even Jasper and Bismuth are only bubbled; their issues weren’t resolved. And so for Aquamarine & Topaz to come down now, with the latest gem tech that can freeze gems in place, and both showing they aren’t above killing humans on a whim…the Crystal Gems stood no chance of winning this fight.
I’m not saying the Crystal Gems were in the wrong, as the only resolution to most of the above issues would’ve been shattering gems, something they are very much against. It’s just bittersweet that when you look back at every event in the show so far, they were on borrowed time before HomeWorld brought out the big guns.
I love how intimidating aquamarine is in this. Shes so small but shes the most ruthless gem. Jasper was threatening but you could tell she has some honor to her fighting and how she prides herself in a fight. Aquamarine fights dirty and maliciously. She makes real threats that she doesnt care about backing up. Its the first true threat since jasper and it sends chills down your spine.
In Lars' defense, not everyone suddenly becomes a hero when faced with danger, he's just a teen. Besides, what could he possibly do against Topaz?
The issue is that he is basically still unlikable at this point after LOTS of episodes. Plus he is kinda an idiot for running even deeper into the ship.
This! Plus he already used up his store of "courage points" just trying to get himself to bake the cake and go to the party... which resulted in a massive failure and kidnapping. Can't blame his brain for going "NOPE"
OH BOY, yes! The last 4 episodes of Season 4, I think they really nailed this finale. How every human went missing episode by episode and eventually found out they were kidnapped by topaz and aquamarine and how this all ties back to a scene that happened earlier in season 1. Steven sacrificing himself. I can't wait for your reactions during Steven's space adventures.. Season 5 is a great Season🙏🏽

''I am my mom'' proves that everything in this show comes back sooner or later, even stuff that is used for a small gag all the way back in S1 like the list Steven gave Peridot ended up being the main factor of Aquamarine and Topaz going to the earth in the end, easily my favorite season finale of the entire show (also Aquamarine still is one of my favorite gems in the show lol)

Seeing you four’s deep appreciation for Steven Universe really warms my heart. For a kid’s show, it’s wildly smart and gently eases in incredibly deep topics like abuse and trauma, as all of you have pointed out at one point or another.
Yall probably have already seen what comes next but I can’t wait to see your reactions when this show gets even crazier.

She's not a lapis, she's a beryl. Her gem type is aquamarine a blue variety of beryl.

Without spoiling, basically the reason we didn't get an extra season is because they would get banned and it would cause a lot of controversy so they wanted to cut their losses. You'll know when it shows up. And every Steven Universe piece is by the OG creator
I understand the hate against Lars but at the same time, he's a human facing a gem juggernaut. He would've been squashed on the spot and Aquamarine doesn't care if the humans die so I think it's fair to fear death when facing an unstoppable force.
- Connie's disguise is similar to Carmen Sandiego while Steven's disguise is based on Mario which you can even hear their theme music, but that not the only video game reference like how Steven flies Connie over a mess of gumballs is similar like to how Tails carries Sonic
- Doug Maheswaran is voiced by Crispin Freeman who also voices Itachi, Ebisu, 4th Kazekage, & others (Naruto), Gyomei (Demon Slayer), Kray (Promare), Kirei (Fate), Shizuo (Durarara), Kyon (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), Jeremiah (Code Geass), & many more
- Lars makes an ube cake roll a common delicacy in the Philippines which is ube is a term there to refer to purple yams
- Notice that on Lars' kitchen was there is a picture of an AT-AT Walker from Star Wars
- Aquamarine is voiced by Della Saba (she also voices young Judy Hops from “Zootopia”, Milky Way in “Cookie Run: Kingdom”, Lyra from “Pokémon Masters”, Veruca from “Kung-Fu Panda: the Dragon Knight, & a few more) while both of the Topazes are voiced by Martha Higareda a Mexican actress
- With Aquamarine constantly asking “Are you my Dad?” Maybe a references a Doctor Who story "The Empty Child" where the boy constantly asks “Are you my Mummy?”
- Dream Ghost is an obvious reference to the iconic pottery scene from the film Ghost
- Steven turning himself in and following Aquamarine & Topaz is not only a reference to Han Solo getting frozen in carbonite but also the title can be a play on the infamous quote from Darth Vader "I am your Father" from Star Wars

Onion, sour cream, Vidalia, and yellowtail all speak the same foreign language. But because Steven doesn’t understand the language, it comes off as nonsense to us.

The series was cancelled by cartoon network but they kinda saw that it was succesful and told rebecca sugar they'd give her the oportunity to produce a bit more for the series.
Fun fact, a fusion's height is indicated by the fusers height, power, and number of fusers. So ruby and sapphire are the same height with power that balances each other so shes as tall as ur average quartz. Suglite is so big because shes 3 gems and 1 being a quartz is a factor of her height. This is also why malachite was so big, a lapis is a powerful gem as well as jasper being a quartz, considered a "perfect" one by peridot. Thats probably why she was as tall as alexandrite

This has been for the past 8 years and still is my favorite show of all time.
When I saw Aquamarine in the thumbnail I was just so hyped!!! I remember being on the edge of my seat for this finale. The best finale imo.
I'm half Filipino, so when Lars baked the Ube cake my brother and I were going crazy "Lars is Filipino!" It is seriously the best natural purple flavor ever, so if you haven't tried it, make it your mission.
I've seen 3 youtube channels react to all of steven universe and watched it obsessively while it was airing, and after all these years I still think these episodes and many that come after are one of the peaks of cartoons, and the peak of SU's writing.
Aquamarine is one of my favorite gem villains she truly gave no fucks and topaz was pretty cool as well seeing all the humans inside her was creepy. I love the reveal that it was Steven who gave them the list of humans all the way from season 1.
Onion is the shit, idk what these people are on about, aslo i love the theory that he a descendent of the "Great Deep Ones" that's why he and his dad don't talk like the rest and i believe that Onion is a special Deep One!.
Onion is a strong flavor that many can not tolerate, but those that do love it.

But I don't think that's Aquamarine's power.
She's using something similar to what Peridot was using when she had her limb enhancers. If you go back, you'll see Peridot do the same thing with her floating fingers. Which, if you look closely, really resembles the wand that Aquamarine was using.

from what I understand is that Future is the unfinished season 6 cobbled together in a way that makes sense with how it was aired, and was probably thrown out there after the movie did well enough for them to push the uncompleted season 6 as the epilogue to end cap everything.

Video is a bit old, but I want to explain the absolutely bizarre circumstances of Steven Universe Future. Basically, Rebecca Sugar was begging for a movie as soon as she heard the show was being cancelled. The network finally agreed, but said they they didn’t want to make a movie if it wasn’t promoting new episodes so they ALSO ordered 20 additional episodes. They were basically written into a corner at that point, so they made it an epilogue miniseries. Never heard of anything like it in my life. Absolutely inexplicable.

@@yaboizero. Yup! I was there watching as soon as they got uploaded because I know his reactions didn't last long. Only like a day or 3 at the most. And I remember his last 4. The last reactions he did was:
Adventure Time: Fin The Human and Jake The Dog.
Regular Show: that evil brain episode.
And for Steven Universe: that potluck episode where Lars wanted to cook but chicken out then got kidnapped.
Sad to see him go. And he was so close to the series finale of Regular Show! Now I guess I want to see these guys reactions to all of Regular Show but they're currently at Season 2 or 3. It feels like I failed the final boss and now have to retry most of the levels!

The creator wanted to do "the thing" that got the show cancelled but also wanted to do a movie but cartoon network didn't want to do a movie if it wasn't promoting more show, so because they were able to convince CN to let them do the movie they were also able to get a bonus of SU Future
I hated being left on this cliffhanger cause on Hulu the 5th season never dropped it was just that cliffhanger and nothing until I found out where to watch the rest 4-5 years later

Steven Universe was my first exposure to Ube, and now its one of my favorite flavors!
Future was indeed made by the original team. Because Season 5 (including/especially the thing CN made the ultimatum about) and the movie made gangbusters in ratings, they gave the crew Future as a post-script season.
So did Lars actually make it to the party and dumped his cake or did he get kidnapped and his cake fell into the trash can? Because I can imagine it going either way.
He literally says he threw it away cause he got scared and was going home when he got kidnapped

Basically, without spoiling, the movie sets up for events that happen in future.
We do see Onion talk to Vedalia in Onion Friend. But he seems to be shy about other people hering him.
Also he speaks a different language
I always thought mamama is supposed to be like someone hearing another language and not understanding. Because his dad also says mamama. And since onion is has 2 dads (step+bio) and his dad got together with Vedalia later, he lived with his dad outseas, I think he can't speak English but only understand, he speaks his dad's language
Now I want to see them watch the Carmen Sandiego reboot…

SU the movie and SU Future are more of an Epilogue than a final season, that kinda adds the final cherries on top of the main story. The main story will be wrapped up in the main show.
