Welcome to Steven universe DEPRESSION EDITION! Also, "You came in and told everyone what they can and can't do! Even me!" - That line always gives me chills... Reminds me of three certain antagonists in the series.
I think one thing you guys forgot to touch on is the fact that Jasper belonged to Pink Diamond. From the second she "broke free of the Earth's crust", she was tasked in fighting a war to destroy and stop Rose Quartz. But then, she finds out the person she was fighting all of this time was the Diamond who made her. You could even see that she was conflicted and confused in the finale when Yellow Diamond had her eye on her. And now here, you can see that she's defying Steven, despite him having Pink Diamond's gem like she says. It must be really hard for her to accept. For all that time, she saw the Diamond Authority and their ideals as paramount and now that's all been taken down, and by someone who has her own Diamond's gem. (At least her first diamond) It would make sense that she would react like this.
While I understand the Rose/Pink bash, you basically get Rose's story in reverse. From a loving future to be mother, to a sorta dismissive but understanding partner for Greg, to a leader and savior of a rebel group, to a war hero/criminal, to someone just interested in the wildlife on earth, to a secret keeper, to a colonizer, to a brat and tantrum thrower, to just an empty diamond that only threw parties for entertainment. No one really points out that by the birth of Steven she had all of her character development.
That's why I like to separate her character in two eras. Rose era and Pink Diamond era. Rose was the person she became and grew up to be from all she saw and learned. Pink was a bitch but she also had her good points as well, cause even as awful as she was, she could've just continued to be a diamond. But she left her position and planned everything to become Rose to try and mend her mistakes. Sure she didn't do an amazingly job but she at the very least tried her best. She even gave up her physical form to give birth to Steven, that shows just how much she grow from pink to Rose. At least that's how I see
I was about the say the same thing. Everybody loves a villain to hero story and that's what she did. Imagine if Vegeta's story was told this way to Trunks. Your father was a hero who protected the Earth and loved his family, your father was indifferent of the Earth and was absent from the family, your father hated the Earth and wanted to blow it up, your father conquered planets and ate their inhabitants. Both Rose and Vegeta started in a position to destroy the Earth and ended loving it. Difference is we got to watch Vegeta and didn't get to watch Rose. I'd argue Rose even started as a better person since she didn't understand what they were doing and as soon as she did she fought to stop it.
She was perfectly human, she made mistakes, learned and changed with time, and she was also made to complete the other diamonds, being childishly as the opposite of white diamond, while yellow and blue balanced both, thats why she was always playing, throwing tantrums and acting selfish before earth, she was just a child with unlimited powers, but once she got mature on earth, the whole empire started to crumble apart, the diamonds are just a metaphor to Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, pink is the ID, blue and yellow are the ego, and white is the superego
Rose is probably one of the best representations of an abused child making bad decisions that reflect on said abuse. It also shows how she wants to completely ignore and remove the problem fast instead of confronting it because it didn’t work when she tried to reason with the other diamonds.
She wasn't really "abused" as much as "neglected" (she was in fact very treasured by the other diamonds, so much that she was treated as a child and was over-sheltered wich ultimatly lead to her being very immature).I think all of her actions were more in line to that of a child trying (and failling) to prove herself as an adult : she left Spinel like a child leave their blankie because they want people to think they're mature, she trew tantrums like a child(and even damaging their "toys" (a.k.a her first pearl) in her anger),didn't think about the consequences of their actions (like how she didn't think about how her sublings would react to her fake death) and hide all the problem she couldn't fix (like bubbleling bismuth because she couldn't explain why she didn't want any gem (more precisly any diamond) shaterred while she had "shattered" a diamond herself). To sum up, she was basicaly a big child with way too much power and freedom.
@@felixjoblon2230It was both actually. When Blue Diamond attacked Steven and locked him in Pink’s room after the ball, Steven realized that this same thing was done to Pink Diamond as well.
It's difficult for me to accept the contention that Pink Diamond "grew up" either spoiled or abused. According to canon, Gems don't "grow up" or mature like organic life; they're supposed to be able to know and be able to accomplish the tasks they were made for from the moment of their creation/emergence. Now, perhaps this is different for Diamonds rather than lesser Gems, but this isn't stated in canon to contradict the earlier stipulation. Amethyst gained considerable wisdom from experience, but she will never become as intellectually formidable as either Pearl or Garnet. Perhaps the Crewniverse went too far in the first look at Pink Diamond in Stevonnie's dream. That Pink Diamond wasn't just impetuous and emotional, she was frankly an idiot, whose only stated desire for developing a colony was because it was due her according to her Diamond status. There wasn't a hint of conscience, of a wish to do good for others; she looked more like she'd eventually become a Caligula, a Joffrey Baratheon, or the nasty piece of work imagined by Garnet. Oddly, while Yellow and Blue Diamonds wanted Pink to "shape up", White Diamond despised Pink and only wanted literally what they could squeeze out of her; that Pink should be locked away forever. According to Rebecca Sugar's timeline chart, White gave Earth to Pink because she was certain that Pink would screw up, and that would presumably put an end to Yellow's and Blue's efforts.
@@baraxor You kinda set up the point yourself. Gems should immediately know what they're supposed to be. Pink is a Diamond. A diamond runs colonies and rules over gems. Something that the other diamonds literally stop Pink from doing. So her insistently wanting a colony and her own court makes sense.
34:45 Actually in one of the comics released, we learned that Steven is actually pretty smart even when he was homeschooled by Pearl. On his first and only day at school he easily got a perfect score on his exam
O.K K.O is 100% worth watching, it's a really good show. Also, Save the light is the second game of a trilogy, the first one is Attack The Light, the second one is Save The Light and the Third is Unleash The Light.
Almost forgot to mention. The pearl fusion is a clear reference to a show called Revolutionary Girl Utena a series that clearly had a decent amount of influence on Steven Universe, it's a great series. I highly recommend it.
god yeah i finally watched utena last year and rewatching volleyball, that entire sequence towards the end was veery strong utena vibes. which rules bc utena is goated.
I feel like the Rose Quartz’s were meant to serve as emotional support for the captive humans before they were all bubbled away. They were very complimenting towards Greg and the crystal gems at the table and even asked if they were alright when noticing how uncomfortable they were. Meanwhile in the episode “The Zoo” the amethysts try to catch the crying humans and struggle to help them calm down, since their duty is to simply guard over the facility, not emotionally comfort. But since the Rose Quartz’s were gone, they had to take on both roles. Also, when they mentioned black diamond, all the memes instantly came back to me
I mean, they're quartz. The whole gem hierarchy have quartzs be common soldier. It's most likely that gems never had any need for a caretaker, they just shoved the task to lower class gems like quartzs to deal with it
@@amirulamani1487 And the Quartzes were... the best at calming down. Maybe that's why no one thought Rose having all those powers she had was weird... because all rose quartzes are like that
I love how it took you until now to figure out pink pearl was pink diamonds pearl. There were a lot of nods and heavy implications of that in the original show after she showed up. Like how she was in Steven's dream with the balls when he was in home world, and the dream where blue said white would take pink's pearl away. And then that she was pink after the mind control wore off (and in the dream) But I'm lovimg the realization now that it's here
That and for the other diamonds, their pearls not only match their colors but also their gem placement. They ARE custom made after all. I’ve always had this theory that out pearl was meant for white diamond (her pale coloring and the fact that her gem is on her forehead) but something went wrong in her creation. Jasper takes one look at her and calls her defective, and she is the only one with an oval pearl instead of a circular one. I think White was gonna have her tossed out and Pink asked for her instead.
@@camiart_casual my personal theory about our pearl is that 1 of 2 things occured. either 1) Because pink damaged her own pearl, and they may have considered her own pearl an "enabler" or something of the like for pink's bad behavior because she was so like her, when they created her new pearl, she was designed with White's specifications being the most forefront in her settings. (maybe wtih some of blue and yellows influence because she wears more colors then the other pearls, but primirily white made the settings so it ended up more in her image). or 2) she was intended for white diamond, but white diamond is PERFECT she doesn't need HELP. so when she was made White just never "activated" her until she had to take away pink's pearl, and give her a new one. (and the reason she didn't just have a brand new pearl made could have been because of parts of idea 1) I personally only think Jasper called Pearl defective upon seeing her wasn't because of anything physically wrong with her, as much as she was a pearl who CHOSE to be part of the rebellion and fought (when pearl's don't fight). If there was clearly a high status gem in their group when Jasper met them, her comment might have been slightly different if she presumed the pearl was her's and was just doing as she was told. But of course, these are all just theories.
OK K.O. IS SO GOOD AND MADE BY THE PARTNER OF REBECCA SUGAR: IAN JONES QUARTEY. He was a storyboard supervisor for Adventure Time, and had a bunch of jobs on Steven Universe! He even has cameos throughout Steven U and Future! Thats him at 21:01 !
Pink didn’t hurt pink pearl on purpose. Pink/Rose never meant to hurt anyone but her lack of control and understanding or her impact on others caused her to leave damage along with her successes. Like Steven in a way. He wants to help but his lack of control over his powers causes him to leave damage in places he helps along with his success. The yell in the pearl repair center is most likely an exact parallel to how pink hurt pink pearl. It wasn’t intentional as pink loves those close to her but her anger led to her leaving damage despite her good intentions. The show doesn’t generally have a set villain or bad person, possibly besides White who was the one who set the societal expectations from the very start. Pink was the first to truly break from that life so she didn’t do things with the intention to hurt anyone she cared for like pearl or Steven but she left without ever truly understanding the impact she had on everyone and everything
@@humanoidfrog4645 she didn’t. Just as volleyball said, pink had a bad temper and would often have angry outbursts. What happened with Pink more than likely is what happened with Steven in the episode. He got angry and stomped his foot on the ground causing damage around him and almost hurting Pearl and volleyball. And since Steven has the same powers as his mother it would make sense that Pink had lost control for a moment as well. Volleyball even said that she was standing close to her which put her in close enough range to cause damage. Does this excuse the fact that she was both physically and psychologically hurt? No, and there are no excuses for the damage Pink/Rose left despite her good intentions. But labeling Pink/Rose as a definite bad person and saying she hurt Volleyball on purpose would be inaccurate to her story and character
@@humanoidfrog4645 I hate how a lot of people say that Rose was suck or was a bitch. Everyone keep judging her for her mistakes in the past instead of looking at the person she had become a gentle, compassionate, caring, and loving mother.
Someone already mentioned Rose's character development, but I wanna mention the "scream". When we meet Rose she has a SOFT, GENTLE voice, you NEVER hear her raise her voice ever again - I don't even remember her voice being raised in the entire series. It's clear that Pink Diamond was as traumatised by what she did to Pink Pearl just because of that one act. It was still her fault, but it was also an accident she tried very hard to avoid in the future.
Also the fact that when Pearl said that she didn't remember Pink having destructive powers, Pink probably started suppressing her powers because White probably warned her that if she broke another Pearl she won't be allowed to colonize a planet. Also I'm pretty sure she wasn't traumatized by what she did to Volleyball because she only started changing after she got to Earth.
The best part of Rose/Pink's character is that you can see her in many perspectives. You can either see her for the selfish and spoiled Diamond that would make temper tantrums here and there whenever she didn't have her way, even hurting others in the proccess (like Pink Pearl and Spinel)... or you can see the kind and compassive leader that did everything in her power to change and create a world where everyone can be free. The show did a great job to show how people's perspective about Rose changed over the seasons, with them deconstructing the idea that she was perfect and showing her flaws and mistakes. If you have noticed, Steven and the others still love Rose, however they also acknowledge all the bad things she did and can no longer see her in the same light. Even if they know she tried to change, the fact is that doesn't erase all the bad things she did. I mean, she hurt her Pearl (even if unintentionally), she abandoned Spinel, she faked her own death without even caring about the impact that would have... Not to mention how she always took everything and everyone for granted... like with our Pearl.
Yeah but everyone needs to remember that if it wasnt for her own will to change herself and her views there would be no life on earth no Steven and gems would still live on a dictadorship.
the fact that you said Steven still loves rose but not in such a perfect or amazing being who he used to always compare himself with to someone who is wrong but not bad
Also, very cool that y'all picked up on Steven basically mirroring Pink's early destructive behaviour even as he wants to separate himself from her. Just like with a kid/adolescent growing up, a lot of that behaviour sucks, but it's also natural for them to feel such strong feelings as they grow - they just need the means to regulate emotions. Steven *almost* has the means because he's emotionally intelligent, but he spends so much time focusing on others that he isn't able to take care of himself until things get too bad. It also shows that while blaming Pink/Rose is easy, it's not as simple as that; Rose clearly got better over time, and Steven needs to be allowed to feel bad before he feels better.
I don't think people understand that we saw Pink Diamond development and growth in reverse. Rose is essentially a different person, she became rose, not to run from responsibility, but essentially to created a blank canvas, she built herself and tried to become a different person for the good of not only herself, but of others.
Creating a blank canvas did lead her to run from her responsibilities, she never owns up to any of what she left behind. She wants to be ‘Rose’ very badly but never truly learns how to become that person, because learning how to change would imply her accepting that she isn’t that person yet, and she never does.
@@m0m055 you do realize we verily gotta to see any of rose, we only heard of what she was like, but never did actually see her. We saw more of pink diamond than we did rose.
@@m0m055 it kinda does. we literally are not able to see that becuase she is gone. she very well could have done it, but we would have no way of knowing unless someone told steven in a story, or he had a dream. im sure she had the growth youre describing
@@simply_camo I meant that she made the choice to disappear knowing she had never told her friends the truth, or dealt with the ones she screwed over ( Bismuth, Spinel …). In other words, knowing she was never going to be able to take responsibility ( since she’d be gone ). I thought that was a huge part of her character, Sugar talks about it in the art book, it’s pretty interesting.
40:34 “It stays” really is the perfect takeaway from this episode. Fusions are the personification of relationships, and so when you really think about it, it makes sense that a scar from a previous one would remain. Someone that truly wants to be with you, or who wants to get to know you better, will love you, scars and all.
I'd just like to point this out again but we're learning about Rose here in reverse, at the beginning we knew of her kindness and compassion for life but as time went on we learned she wasn't always that way. When she was "younger", she was much like a lot of people that were growing up, spoiled, throws tantrums, and just wanted to be acknowledge, but as she "grew up" and taken on responsibility, she learned the wrongs she's done. Not everything was fixed, she did her best to preserve and take care of what she could
Well, she grew up both spoiled and abused. Remember how Blue would always make her cry and yellow was physical with her and white would never listen to her.
Pink did not physically abuse Volleyball. White said she could not have a Colony and pink screamed but Volleyball was just standing right next to her and felt the full shockwave of the blast damaging her. It does not justify what she did she should have been more careful with her incredible powers but it was an accident just like how Stevens tantrum this episode was an accident.
@@alejotassile6441 not really an accident is not abuse. If you kick a ball and it accidentally hits a bystander in the face and breaks their nose would you consider that abuse? Yes you are still responsible and you should have been more careful and should help the bystander to make amends but you did not abuse them. Pink got angry at white and screamed in anger and accidentally released her powers just like what Steven did and Volleyball who was standing right next to her was hit by the shockwave. It was an accident yes Pink is still responsible if she controlled her anger this would not have happened she is not free from blame but it was not abuse. For it to be abuse it must be intentional and repeated.
I think the deciding factor over whether or not it was abuse is how often Pink had her tantrums and how scared Volleyball was of them. If you’re in a relationship with someone who is constantly going into fits of rage, even if they’re not directed at you, and you’re scared when they do so it’s still abuse even if the one time they actually hit you it was a total accident. Personally based on how traumatised Volleyball was I’m inclined to believe that while Pink only hurt her the one time there were a few close calls.
@@jonasquinn7977 That is an excellent point. You are correct if a partner gets angry constantly and that anger makes you uncomfortable and scared even if the anger is never directed towards you it would still qualify as abuse. Although that would be more so emotional abuse rather than physical abuse.
Pink didn't abuse her Pearl. She was careless and had an accident, a terrible accident that badly damaged someone she cared about, it was a one time thing that horrified her into changing how she behaved from then on. Pinks whole story is accidently hurting someone, changing so it won't happen again only to hurt someone else because she doesn't understand the effects her actions have on those around her.
People can be abusive even if they don’t mean to. It doesn’t always mean they’re irredeemable or unable to grow and change but it is important to acknowledge abuse. I have a person in my life who has not intended to hurt me but has been extremely toxic and at some points to other people in our life abusive. I don’t believe that they can’t change and start a new, better path. But they have still hurt me and other people. Something they must take accountability for one day to grow. ❤❤
mmm, even if the physical harm was a one time thing, it feels pretty obviously implied from volleyball’s dialogue that pink was emotionally abusive in different ways as well.
@@luckybug479 That is true, but that's not the story we were given for Pink. There's no indication of Pink taking her frustrations out on Volleyball or any of her other gems. Though you are right, it was absolutely a toxic environment, but all of gem society is a toxic environment.
Ehh I think it’s safe to say that there’s a relatively strong history of abuse throughout Pink’s life. Volleyball is the first and most obvious one and while Pink never resorted to physical abuse again she, intentionally or not, was consistently emotionally abusive. She gaslit and abandoned Spinel, she took advantage of Pearl’s loyalty to get her to do something horrible and force her to never mention it again all while keeping several important secrets from her, while her and Greg were ultimately pretty chill there was at least a decent chunk of their relationship were she treated him like a lesser being and even with Steven she managed to leave behind an utter clusterfuck that he was forced to deal with.
@@jonasquinn7977 she definitely seems to have a problem with accountability too which is key to growing from mistakes as she never talked to anyone about her mistakes and left it behind for Steven to fix
'Volleyball' might be my favourite episode from Steven Universe Future, it perfectly sets up the cracks in our 'perfect hero' archetype now that everything is peaceful.
I love how in the first ep of this series, amethyst tells steven that he should stop trying to help everyone, and she's right. It's good in wanting to help others or give others second chances, but the thing is that not everyone deserves it if they refuse to change for the better. It's sad but true. Even garnet once told him about that during peridot's redemption arc.
Also, if you think about 'Volleyball' as a nickname, it's a pretty messed up coincidence Steven would pick that, not only is it an inanimate object with no feelings, but you also physically slap it about to play the game. And this episode was the first one to demonstrate how destructive Pink Diamond's powers are, especially when influenced by negative emotions like anger.
It wasn't the first time, remember during Change your Mind when the pink diamond gem was separated from Steven and reformed into Pink Steven the powers were just as destructive when he screamed at White.
Admittedly, it does make the moment when a volleyball smacked Pearl upside the head much funnier in a weird way. Kind of a visual representation of how it felt getting “I’m older than you” (among other feelings about Pink Diamond) thrown back at her. Do kinda wish they gave her a different nickname by the end. Or even just “Pink Pearl.”
Fun fact each one of those 3 rose quartzes have some of rose's personality traits, and one of them is just straight up her spitting image so it was extras messed up
my highlights: - I liked that slight Biggs and Ocean Jasper nod to when they were sitting in on Amethyst class. They were the two gem monsters Steven, Connieband Pearl fought but Jasper came in and drafted them. - Its funny you guys never noticed or predicted the temple gem being Obsidian! - I remember it being confirmed that Jasper's gem placement being a reference to Franky of One Piece but their personalities couldnt be anynore different! But also how gem placement does determine part of their personality traits. Jasper being a 'nose gem' just makes her a very forward personality type. She is already 'perfect' but combine that with her looking down on every other gem makes her narcisistic. But we all want character growth from her but it makes complete sense why she is the way she is. - Larimar liking screams could be attributed to the fact she was found in the ice cave that protected the 'Shooting Star'. Ice caves and crevaces when wind and air zipping through creates what sounds disturbingly like human screams. - Although the Rose Quartz storyline was necessary, I aas a little sad we never found out more about Skinny Jasper and Carnelian. Particularly Carnelian and why shes the only one of her kind. - Also funny you never caught on to the 'original Pearl' swap. Now in fairness they did actually confirm 'White's Pearl' to be Pink's in the original run but it was more towards the finale and part of the dream sequence where you see 'Volleyball' as a Pink Pearl playing with Steven but also the part where Blue shows up and is saying 'Whites going to take away your Pearl'. But the biggest giveaway was the gem placement matching their owner's gem placement. Pink Pearl is on her belly like Pink Diamond. Now the theory that Our Pearl was White's was false (plus Pink Pearl said shes OLDER than our Pearl) but there were theories she probably belonged to someone in White Diamond's Court or Elites. But it begs the other question: who or where is White Diamond's original Pearl?! Or was White so elite and self-reliant that she didn't need a Pearl?
Ohhh! So all little Larimar had been hearing while corrupted were those ice cave screams. Hearing those for so long must have turned them into her comfort sound... which means if Gems had to sleep... Little Larimars sleep comfort sound playlist would be screams.
There is not just one Steven Universe game. It's a game series (Trilogy). The first part is mobile-only (Attack the Light), but the sequels are PC(+ports) games (Save the Light and Unleash the Light). The mobile game is a starting point for these games so it's better to play it first.
I love Future, and I definitely love and suggest OK KO. KO was made by Rebecca Sugar's spouse, I believe, and was absolutely shafted by Cartoon Network.
In every Steven Universe Future episode going forward where Volleyball is present, her left eye is always hidden. She’s always facing a certain direction or there is always an item conveniently obscuring it… it’s an intentional detail to let the viewers interpret whether or not her trauma has physically healed or not for themselves.
Rebecca Sugar made me see the revolutionary girl Utena, from so many references that Rebecca uses from this anime in the shows.I was extremely happy when I saw the fusion of the two pearls as it is a "fusion" mix of Anthy and Utena from the anime 🥰 Another curiosity is that Pearl's design is based a little on the utena "clothes" and the fact that she fights with a sword in the episode where she teaches Steven how to fight with swords. There is a scene that is identical to Utena's fight with another character. I love these two shows so much ❤️
Honestly, after looking at roses story, after watching the show so much. I feel like by time she had steven, she was a pretty different person from when she left homeworld. Literally thousands of years. We're watching how great she is now and going back to see where she started. Rose feels like a bad person because we don't know what she grew from. And because we're watching and learning about her through flashbacks from other people, when u see it like that she seems horrible lol
27:34 Amethyst's reaction 😂 27:48 Pearl is doing great 27:59 Tragic... especially with that thing with Amethyst 30:00 It was Pearl who thought up the design of Rose, she didn't copy a particular Rose it's just a coincidence. It's nice to see so many fellow Rose Quartz fans in the comment section, but I hope that it doesn't wind up like the Pearl stan problem where some... more childish fans send you hate over your opinions. Let's all remember to spread "peace and love on the planet Earth" and in the comment section!!
I'm a Rose defender until I die. She was very flawed, but at least she could see the value of human life and see other gems as equals without a 14-year-old having to tell her to. *cough cough* the diamonds
We also need to remember how she grew up pretty abused, though also spoiled. The pebbles on homeworld were created by the amount of tears she shed. Blue would make her cry and lock her in a room, yellow would get physical with her and white would never listen. She threw tantrums just to be heard and went to extremes for everything. Don't get me wrong, she's not an innocent victim, but you definitely see the immaturity in her handling of things.
@@cniknik9863 Very true you're 100% correct, although it should also be mentioned that that applies to every villain ever--everyone's actions are influenced by their own trauma. All 'villains' were victims.
Dude YES, really hope to see you guys give OK KO a chance. So few react channels even bother to give it a try. It was very much overshadowed by the other shows on CN and was unfortunately shafted during production since it came out during CN's major financial hardships in the late 2010s, but it's still really good. Different vibe than Steven Universe or Adventure Time, but I think you guys would dig it.
I’ll say it again, I don’t hate Future like most people. It’s not terrible by any means, and it could’ve done with some slight changes, but it’s still a good send off for the show (that is unless the rumors of the show returning if it gets more acknowledgment ever happens…)
Who hates future?! It has an overwhelmingly positive reception, and for excellent reason. The biggest issue for most people is the diamonds, which applies to the main series too
@@azeTrom17people hate future because they apparently think it's a horrible representation of trauma, The diamonds being "redeemed", and Steven being a jerk now
i will say the diamonds would probably be better if at least White wasn’t redeemed. Yellow and Blue, maybe, but White turned over a new leaf surprisingly quickly, which felt a bit too unnatural
I understand the frustration with pink but I will say seeing her story in reverse paints a different picture than if you put it in order. One way she seems like an awful person running away from her consequences and in the other a victim of abuse who did what she had to to escape her abusers after realizing how horrible her family is both towards her and as colonizers. Just like the pearls that complete the picture of their understanding of her
4 episodes? shit we'll be done in no time. anyway im so hype man i love su future it gets really dark and is just. idk a really great conclusion to the show imo. i was like steven's age when this show came out, always related to him (including traits of his that seem good but can be harmful/detrimental especially to yourself) so future really felt kind of eye-opening to me, and healing in a way.
also holy shit watching the volleyball episode after having watched utena now. i had heard that su was inspired by it, especially in regards to pearl. but man seeing it now im just like "this is soo utena"
@@jonasquinn7977i mean humans. She still subconsciously had some of that caste system ideologies grained into her after everything. Pearl does too, with still believing she needs to serve someone. It’s implied a few times that even Garnet still sees humans as kinda animalistic
It's really cool that the Rose Quartzes are voiced by Kimberly Brooks, the same VA as Jasper, and all the other quartzes that aren't Amethyst. A nice detail, especially since since sounds totally different than she does as Jasper.
also look at the Pearl's gem and their diamond. yellow pearl and yellow diamond - chest blue pearl and blue diamond - chest pink pearl and pink diamond - stomach OUR pearl and white diamond - head white took away pink pearl from PD because she was having too much fun so White took pink pearl and gave her our pearl with resemblence to her as a way to fuck with PD's head. Also all pearls have one colour but our pearl has multiple colours like how white diamond is all colours
- The gem that Steven awakens in Ep. 1 is called Cherry Quartz who is voiced by Kimberly Brooks who also voices Jasper, Carnelian, Skinny, Ocean, Zebra, & the other Rose Quartz that look like his mom (Steven Universe), Luna & others (Scooby Doo), Puff & Madelyn (Static Shick), Allura, Melenor, & Valayun (Voltron), Buena Girl, Snow Pea, & Cindy (Mucha Lucha), Looma, Serena, Rayona, Rook Bralla, Madison, & Starbeard (Ben 10 Omniverse), Skara (The Owl House), Peg Leg Meg, Hard Tack Hattie, & One-Eyed Linda (Ducktales), Bumblebee & others (DC Super Hero Girls), Chili Pepper (Cookie Run: Kingdom), Christine (Oxxy & Drix), MeeMee & others (Dexter’s Laboratory), Mrs. Sanders (Justice League), Reporter (Jimmy Neutron movie), Kathy (Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman), & many more - Little Larimar (one of my favorite gems) is voiced by Michelle Maryk & was first seen as a corrupted gem in the “Monster Buddies” episode while Snowflake Obsidian is voiced by Ian Jones-Quartey (Rebecca Sugar’s husband), & Bixbite we have seen as a corrupted gem in the “Rising Tides, Crashing Skies” episode - When Smokey Quartz goes super fast s similar to the Flash’s Flashtime & Kamen Rider ability called “Clock-Up” - In “Volleyball” there are 2 anime references first Pink Pearl using her ribbon is just like the transformation sequences in Sailor Moon & when she fuses making Mega Pearl her appearance is a reference to Revolutionary Girl Utena
Correction… Rose WAS a piece of shit 😂 as a mom she’s a lovely person and has gotten to grow over time, but the further back we go into her life, we see how awful she was when she first started everything 😭😅 unfortunately for Steven, none of her character development matters, especially when he keeps having to deal with her enemies and f ups 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♀️
But we also have to take into account that technically back then she was like a child. Immature and isolated so she didnt know how to handle relationships like she should have.
41:54 The show never shows us her eye again, but Boom hit it right in the nail, trauma can heal but the sequels of it won't always disappear, so it's left ambiguous whether or not her eye heals.
For Rose's Pearl dubbed volleyball, she was pink's original pearl that during that weird dream that Steven had back in season 5 with blue scolding him in the tower about the little creations pink had made at the ball and blue states "one more act like this again and whites going to take your pearl." So we can roughly assume that somewhere between then and before that 8,000 years that volleyball says that she doesn't remember being overtaken by white diamond that she was confiscated from pink
One thing people overlook with Pink is that we saw her story in reverse chronological order. She had a redemption arc, but seeing it backwards makes it feel like she was getting worse and worse rather than better and better. She was raised by the same society as all the rest of the gems and she was the first to recognize something was wrong with it and tried to do something about it. She struggled and failed and made mistakes, but a lot of the problems were caused by others putting her on a pedestal and assuming she knew what she was doing and could do no wrong. Look at her dialogue in the first few episodes that we see her. She was all regret and guilt. Greg mentioned that she always wanted to confess everything to him and seemed really troubled about her past. It doesn't excuse how she was, but you can't blame her for the bad without giving her credit for the good.
Rose is one of the most well written characters in animation. It makes sense why she was the way she was. She was doomed from the start, but it doesn't excuse everything she did. Yet that's what makes her the most human out of all the gems. You either love to hate her or hate to love her
The Light series of games are a Trilogy of RPG-like games, I recommend playing them in order for maximum enjoymen and understanding of the recurring plot elements: *Steven Universe: Attack the Light* - A short Mobile game released in 2015 (fun fact: before Garnet was revealed to be a fusion) *Steven Universe: Save the Light* - The game is a direct sequel to Attack the Light, an RPG for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch released in 2017 *Steven Universe: Unleash the Light* - A direct sequel of Save the Light, first released on the Apple Arcade catalog on 2019, and later for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on 2021 and the one you guys saw the trailer for.
From my understanding, I figured Pink Diamond created the Rose Quartzes after she first shifted into a Rose Quartz to visit Earth. That there is an actual Rose Quartz who could pass as a twin understably freaked out Pearl and Garnet and GREG. Rose once told Greg that she envied the Human ability to change (during the backstory where Greg babysat Sour Cream). Volleyball and Pearl had to form Mega Pearl to realize the whole picture and the fact that Pink Diamond has been changing herself for eons. Which is admirable, save for the fact that she left such a mess for Steven to deal with.
I didn't think this would happen, but it still triggers me that so many people hate Rose. But in fact, if we were told her story not backwards, we would have watched how she turned from a spoiled princess into a hero and freedom fighter who was ready to make great sacrifices. And I'm just sure that in this case, most of the fans would adore her and talk about incredible character development. Rebecca set up an experiment, telling us everything from the end and people did not understand the main idea.
A lot of the stuff that she did when she was pink diamond i forgive. But when she became rose quarts, she had less of an excuse. Especially since she could have fixed her mistakes before she left but instead left them to her son to fix them. Its bad when someone says your mother did a horrible act, and the son says it sounds like their mother.
I'm tired of people saying this. No she wouldn't be adored. A lot of people aren't stupid. They know that her development was in reverse. But even still, as Rose Quartz, she did questionable things and ignored all of the problems that she caused as Pink Diamond. I need people to stop acting like it's ridiculous or wrong to dislike Rose. If you want to accept that Rose is morally grey, then accept that a morally grey character isn't universally liked, and grey means that some of their actions will definitely be disliked.
@@mrmouse9476she couldnt go back to save spinel after she became a better person because all the warps off the planet were busted because of the war. the earth had been safe for thousands of years when she had steven, she didnt think there were any problems left that she'd be able to fix. she didnt know that homeworld would return to the planet and she didnt know about the cluster and she couldnt cure the corrupted gems by herself. if she wanted steven to fix her problems she would've told him so in her tape, instead she told him to just live his life. if anything rose was running away from being herself, not running away from her problems. she didnt have that many problems that could be fixed by the time she had steven
@@ngeorge9673 pretty sure people reacted just as badly towards Pearl - tbh, I think it's fair to say a lot of people just aren't good with morally grey characters, esp cartoon fans (because many characters in game of thrones were loved despite being absolute assholes sometimes)
I’m sorry, but being triggered because people rightly criticize *a fictional character* who has legitimately hurt *other fictional characters* is such a huge projection, and inversion/appropriation of the language of trauma to shut down discussion of harm to avoid difficult feelings.
The main takeaway from Pink’s character isn’t just that you see her “growing backwards”, at least that’s not something the Crewniverse has ever felt important to discuss, the same way you’ll never hear anyone form the crew saying that she’s a good person, or defending her. It is absolutely valid to think of her as a bad person, because she really isn’t a good one. It seems like the only thing that Rebecca really wanted viewers to do was to interrogate themselves about this person, about why she does the things she does. It’s what the entire ‘fandom’ discussed for years. And that is, imo, the trademark of good and purposeful storytelling.
36:00 Remember near the end of the original of the show (maybe last episode) in the prison tower when Steven had that dream like flashback, that basically Pink let out a bunch of weird aliens loose at the ball and stuff and Blue said they are gonna take her Pearl away
(sorry, I'm commenting as I see them.) Pink/Rose did give Pearl something other than heart brake. Her freedom. Pink/Rose may have made some fundamental f_ck ups, but she never did them out of evil. Her mistakes were ether her trying to be like her sisters and mother (Blue, Yellow, and White), her bing immature, and then later wrong thing in the idea that secrets was a good way to fix an issue. I think she would have gone back for Spinal but by the time she was in the right mentality to realize what she did was wrong the war would have been in full swing then the corrupting song happened forcing the Crystal Gems into hiding on Earth.
There are three Steven Universe games. First their Attack the Light on Google Play and App stores, then Save the Light on consoles like Switch, and lastly Unleash the Light also on the Switch.
What I think is important to remember about Pink/Rose is that we saw her character development in reverse. And while yes, it’s horrible that she hurt Volleyball, we have to remember that she was a literal child when it happened. Children throw tantrums, Pink just happened to be a very powerful child (does not excuse it, but it does give insight into why). Everything that we’ve seen, Pink sneaking down and falling in love with the earth, learning to value all life, fighting against their oppressors, that WAS her character development. However, we as the audience see all of the good stuff first and all the bad stuff last, making it seem like Pink/Rose was the villain, when in actuality she was not.
There is a popular theory that Pink "broke" her pearl, and because White didn't really hold any attachment to her pearl, they swapped. Both Blue and Yellow have a pearl with corresponding color and gem placement. Pink's and White's pears are the opposite and if switched around, they would match their diamonds.
Pink Pearl (I despise the name "Volleyball") was evidently damaged and consequently irreparably scarred by her mistress Pink Diamond, entirely inadvertently. However, that wasn't the reason she was "swapped" for Our Pearl. As revealed in Steven's dream on Homeworld back in s5, Pink Pearl had been colluding with Pink Diamond to conceal PD's un-Diamondlike activities from Yellow Diamond, and for this she was zombified by White Diamond and replaced. In the original version, as included in the second art book, Pink Pearl actually told off the other Diamonds in defense of Pink, and that was treasonous behavior that could not be overlooked.
It's actually a trilogy! Attack the Light is the first and it's on Android, Save the Light is the second for PC and consoles, is open world, and the third is Unleash the Light for PC and consoles too, this one is not open world but it is the one with the most characters and it has the best combat (Sorry if i made any spelling mistakes, i'm Brazilian)
I highly recommend O.K. K.O.! It has all the charm of a Cartoon Cartoon, there's funny characters and quips, and it's just a love letter to animation as a medium. It's also from Ian Jones-Quartey, Rebecca Sugar's husband, who had a big part in SU, including as a producer, storyboard artist, and voice actor. Again, O.K. K.O. is definitely a must watch; it's an absolute shame CN shafted it.
Ok ko let's be heroes is a great show! It got cancelled too sadly, however the creators wrapped up the plot really nicely. Would definitely recommend checking it out
OK K.O. is honestly one of my top 5 favorite shows of all times. It just oozes SO much love for animation and its very clear that the writers and animators really just had a ton of fun working on this show. The Show was meant to be Cartoon networks new flagship title and K.O. (the name of the main charecter) meant to be thier unofficial new mascot for the digital age, but due to a fascinating Dominoeffect of events originating completely outside of the show and even Cartoon Networks control, it ended up never happening and CN ended up not giving the show much airtime, so it remained relatively undiscovered. It is not at all a serious show but few other shows have made me both laugh and smile to the extent it has. If you do decide to watch it, I think you'll enjoy it a lot.
Save the Light is actually the second installment in series of Steven universe RPGs. First is the mobile game exclusive Attack the light, then Save the light and finally Unleash the light that takes place after the finale of SU and before future. Also there's just tons of other lesser mobile games.
That's the thing she didn't mean to hurt Volleyball, after she had accidentally hurt Volleyball she was taken away and under White Dimonds control, after she was taken away Pink Dimond was trying to control her temper and such which she did.
I have to say, I'm really appreciating how this is being handled. These are some hard feelings and topics. The show is really doing a good job of showing that there is no easy way to deal with this. No simple quick solutions to old traumas and anxieties. One step at a time feelings get resolution and can be laid to rest.

About the games, the switch game "Save the Light" is actually the second game in a trilogy. The first was a mobile app game called "Attack the Light" and the third was an Apple Arcade exclusive called "Unleash the Light." You don't need to have played the others to enjoy any one of them, but doing them in order provides a little extra context to the story of the games. And as for OK KO, it was created by Rebecca Sugar's husband, Ian Jones-Quartey, who also worked on SU. Rebecca paid homage to his character KO with Ruby's design (her headband and outfit) before his show was officially created.
While Rose left far too much damage for Steven to deal with she didn’t intend to hurt everyone the way she did. Of course it doesn’t change the outcome and she’s still responsible for nearly all the unfinished conflicts Steven faced but she had Steven with the impression that the diamonds had stopped coming for them and that Steven would have a peaceful life. There had been no activity for over 5 thousand years so she thought none of the past would come back for her family with her absent.
There were 4 Steven Universe games, the Phantom Fable, and the Light series: 1# Attack the Light, 2# Save the Light, and 3# Unleash the Light. I guess Attack the Light and The Phantom Fable are in app purgatory now.
Fun fact: Rose Quartzes are darker in color. Darker pink. Pink Diamond as Rose Quartz has always been pale and lighter color. Also the title when her death was revealed was called "A Single Pale Rose". If the other Diamonds just looked closer, they would have noticed that PD's gem was not like a RQ at all. Also Pink Diamond was pretty much the first Rose Quartz since we don't see other Rose Quartzes in Homeworld, Blue Diamond said Pink made them, and yea that implied Pink Diamond made them likely after her transformation.
While never really explained, in s5 we did see Pink Diamond's personal hidden laboratory (while Steven was singing "Familiar"). Gem species are designed and created first by the Diamonds, and the Rose Quartz series I would guess be the pink equivalent of Amethysts for Blue Diamond (and Pink, at first), and Citrines for Yellow Diamond...Quartz warriors.
45:33 OK KO is a great show if you guys are looking for something new to watch. (It was made by the same people that made Steven Universe) And there are two more Steven Universe games after Save the Light. All three of the games are cannon to the show.
Given Pearl’s color, it is a theory that she was one of White Diamond’s pearls and she was given to Pink after White took Volleyball away for cracking her
There is a theory that has kind of been confirmed in this episode about why the pink diamond's pearl (Our Pearl) is the only one that is not completely the color of its diamond and people went deep into it. Our Pearl originally had an outfit with the colors of the 4 diamonds. Therefore, it is a reference that our Pearl was made by the 4 diamonds after something happened to the main/original Pink Diamond Pearl. The theory was that pink ended up breaking her original Pearl and the diamonds gave her our Pearl. There was also a small reference that the pearl was from Pink Diamond's court in her robot fight with Peridot, in which her clothes had a pink diamond representing being from Pink's court. If I'm not mistaken, that's what led to the theory that our pearl belong to pink diamond. Well, these whole theories weren't wrong as was shown and I think that's super cool. Many theories becoming true.
Do keep in mind that you've been told Rose's story backwards and also that she herself is a victim of abuse who went on to traumatise more people. Abuse begets abuse. It doesn't make rose innocent but for example when it comes to Spinel it's not like she ever could have actually gone back to the garden to get her since the warp pads on earth were shut off from the rest of space
Weren't there three Steven Universe games in that same style? I know one is called Save the Light, but I don't know the others. Edit: I just googled it, the three games are (In order): 1) Attack the Light 2) Save the Light 3) Unleash the Light.

Rose is 100% my favorite character for this reason
😮😮😮
Rose is probably one of the best representations of an abused child making bad decisions that reflect on said abuse. It also shows how she wants to completely ignore and remove the problem fast instead of confronting it because it didn’t work when she tried to reason with the other diamonds.
Exactly, thank you
She wasn't really "abused" as much as "neglected" (she was in fact very treasured by the other diamonds, so much that she was treated as a child and was over-sheltered wich ultimatly lead to her being very immature).I think all of her actions were more in line to that of a child trying (and failling) to prove herself as an adult : she left Spinel like a child leave their blankie because they want people to think they're mature, she trew tantrums like a child(and even damaging their "toys" (a.k.a her first pearl) in her anger),didn't think about the consequences of their actions (like how she didn't think about how her sublings would react to her fake death) and hide all the problem she couldn't fix (like bubbleling bismuth because she couldn't explain why she didn't want any gem (more precisly any diamond) shaterred while she had "shattered" a diamond herself).
They finally got their "and Peridot" in the opening
Yep

(maybe wtih some of blue and yellows influence because she wears more colors then the other pearls, but primirily white made the settings so it ended up more in her image).
or 2)
she was intended for white diamond, but white diamond is PERFECT she doesn't need HELP. so when she was made White just never "activated" her until she had to take away pink's pearl, and give her a new one. (and the reason she didn't just have a brand new pearl made could have been because of parts of idea 1)
I personally only think Jasper called Pearl defective upon seeing her wasn't because of anything physically wrong with her, as much as she was a pearl who CHOSE to be part of the rebellion and fought (when pearl's don't fight). If there was clearly a high status gem in their group when Jasper met them, her comment might have been slightly different if she presumed the pearl was her's and was just doing as she was told.
But of course, these are all just theories.

Pink was the first to truly break from that life so she didn’t do things with the intention to hurt anyone she cared for like pearl or Steven but she left without ever truly understanding the impact she had on everyone and everything
she hurt her on purpose

@@keyboardkets379 that doesn’t contradict what I said.
@@m0m055 it kinda does. we literally are not able to see that becuase she is gone. she very well could have done it, but we would have no way of knowing unless someone told steven in a story, or he had a dream. im sure she had the growth youre describing
@@simply_camo
I meant that she made the choice to disappear knowing she had never told her friends the truth, or dealt with the ones she screwed over ( Bismuth, Spinel …).
Beautifully said.
Right and the fact they both never fully healed emotionally and mentally
It does not justify what she did she should have been more careful with her incredible powers but it was an accident just like how Stevens tantrum this episode was an accident.
that's still abuse tho
Jasper acting all Saiyan and being all “really!?” like a little kid when Steven accepts her challenge always tickles me.
Yeah. She acts like goku when vegeta finally accepts his challenges
It’s time for traumatised Steven Universe! I’m so hyped for the reaction on this season🙏🏽😭
Is there only one season?
@@thedotgiver2820 Sadly yes 😔
Sadly yes , it's basically an epilogue so it won't feel incomplete .
I wish we could’ve seen her face
@@philippschmidt80 Oh yea very true, it was completely emotionless until it reunited with Steven.
Fun fact each one of those 3 rose quartzes have some of rose's personality traits, and one of them is just straight up her spitting image so it was extras messed up
True
my highlights:
- I liked that slight Biggs and Ocean Jasper nod to when they were sitting in on Amethyst class.

Yeah, it is her husband's show.
@@cniknik9863 Ruby's sweatband is in homage to OK KO.
Rebecca Sugar made me see the revolutionary girl Utena, from so many references that Rebecca uses from this anime in the shows.I was extremely happy when I saw the fusion of the two pearls as it is a "fusion" mix of Anthy and Utena from the anime 🥰
Another curiosity is that Pearl's design is based a little on the utena "clothes" and the fact that she fights with a sword in the episode where she teaches Steven how to fight with swords.
I SCREAMED WHEN ERIK SAID "is that black diamond" 😭😭😭TRUST ME YOU *DO NOT* WANNA KNOW
27:34 Amethyst's reaction 😂
27:48 Pearl is doing great
27:59 Tragic... especially with that thing with Amethyst
30:00 It was Pearl who thought up the design of Rose, she didn't copy a particular Rose it's just a coincidence.
I mean I think everyone says that compared to the diamonds Rose was a saint
I think most people overlook the most important thing.
_She's a giant pink lady._ That's awesome.
Problems with future is cartoon networks fault for rushing the ending

The thing on the top of the big donut is the little alien that blue diamond smacked away when Steven and Connie were in the tower!

The latter does actively choose to ignore the terrible things she did and never made up for though
4 episodes? shit we'll be done in no time. anyway im so hype man i love su future it gets really dark and is just. idk a really great conclusion to the show imo. i was like steven's age when this show came out, always related to him (including traits of his that seem good but can be harmful/detrimental especially to yourself) so future really felt kind of eye-opening to me, and healing in a way.
also holy shit watching the volleyball episode after having watched utena now. i had heard that su was inspired by it, especially in regards to pearl. but man seeing it now im just like "this is soo utena"
OK ko was one of my favorites and somehow managed to have a Ben 10, Steven universe, and teen titans go and it's very own sonic crossover
Can we talk about Steven throwing his tantrum and Pearl immediately getting in front of Volleyball to protect her?
The inevitable Rose bashing always makes me so sad. “We need to talk” was all about her learning to see Greg as an equal aaa
I’m sorry but it’s rather damning that it took her that long to do it and she never did it for her own followers

It's really cool that the Rose Quartzes are voiced by Kimberly Brooks, the same VA as Jasper, and all the other quartzes that aren't Amethyst. A nice detail, especially since since sounds totally different than she does as Jasper.
also look at the Pearl's gem and their diamond.
yellow pearl and yellow diamond - chest
blue pearl and blue diamond - chest
pink pearl and pink diamond - stomach
OUR pearl and white diamond - head
white took away pink pearl from PD because she was having too much fun so White took pink pearl and gave her our pearl with resemblence to her as a way to fuck with PD's head. Also all pearls have one colour but our pearl has multiple colours like how white diamond is all colours
With all of her flaws, I still stands with Rose Quartz, because at the end, she really understood what being a human was like
- The gem that Steven awakens in Ep. 1 is called Cherry Quartz who is voiced by Kimberly Brooks who also voices Jasper, Carnelian, Skinny, Ocean, Zebra, & the other Rose Quartz that look like his mom (Steven Universe), Luna & others (Scooby Doo), Puff & Madelyn (Static Shick), Allura, Melenor, & Valayun (Voltron), Buena Girl, Snow Pea, & Cindy (Mucha Lucha), Looma, Serena, Rayona, Rook Bralla, Madison, & Starbeard (Ben 10 Omniverse), Skara (The Owl House), Peg Leg Meg, Hard Tack Hattie, & One-Eyed Linda (Ducktales), Bumblebee & others (DC Super Hero Girls), Chili Pepper (Cookie Run: Kingdom), Christine (Oxxy & Drix), MeeMee & others (Dexter’s Laboratory), Mrs. Sanders (Justice League), Reporter (Jimmy Neutron movie), Kathy (Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman), & many more
- Little Larimar (one of my favorite gems) is voiced by Michelle Maryk & was first seen as a corrupted gem in the “Monster Buddies” episode while Snowflake Obsidian is voiced by Ian Jones-Quartey (Rebecca Sugar’s husband), & Bixbite we have seen as a corrupted gem in the “Rising Tides, Crashing Skies” episode
- When Smokey Quartz goes super fast s similar to the Flash’s Flashtime & Kamen Rider ability called “Clock-Up”
- In “Volleyball” there are 2 anime references first Pink Pearl using her ribbon is just like the transformation sequences in Sailor Moon & when she fuses making Mega Pearl her appearance is a reference to Revolutionary Girl Utena
The timing when you guys were talking about Onion and he just happens to appear in the roller coaster 🤣
41:54 The show never shows us her eye again, but Boom hit it right in the nail, trauma can heal but the sequels of it won't always disappear, so it's left ambiguous whether or not her eye heals.
For Rose's Pearl dubbed volleyball, she was pink's original pearl that during that weird dream that Steven had back in season 5 with blue scolding him in the tower about the little creations pink had made at the ball and blue states
"one more act like this again and whites going to take your pearl."
So we can roughly assume that somewhere between then and before that 8,000 years that volleyball says that she doesn't remember being overtaken by white diamond that she was confiscated from pink
You either love to hate her or hate to love her
The Light series of games are a Trilogy of RPG-like games, I recommend playing them in order for maximum enjoymen and understanding of the recurring plot elements:

*Steven Universe: Unleash the Light* - A direct sequel of Save the Light, first released on the Apple Arcade catalog on 2019, and later for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on 2021 and the one you guys saw the trailer for.
Talking about the gem version of Onion: Onion sails by.
"speak of the devil and he will appear"
From my understanding, I figured Pink Diamond created the Rose Quartzes after she first shifted into a Rose Quartz to visit Earth. That there is an actual Rose Quartz who could pass as a twin understably freaked out Pearl and Garnet and GREG.
Rose once told Greg that she envied the Human ability to change (during the backstory where Greg babysat Sour Cream). Volleyball and Pearl had to form Mega Pearl to realize the whole picture and the fact that Pink Diamond has been changing herself for eons. Which is admirable, save for the fact that she left such a mess for Steven to deal with.
i like that the other rose quartzes are voiced by kimberly brooks instead of susan egan, it sets them apart from pd

Don’t forget rose quartz was made by pink diamond, meaning they were first made for pink
4:54. I love how boom saw the temple and I was thinking about the community how we said that it looks like obsidian, or it is obsidian.
And the Rose basing begin. Even she probably one of the most interesting characters that change a lot over time. Just it was shown in reverse.
Did you notice that each Pearl’s pearl is at the same place as diamonds’s diamonds
36:00 Remember near the end of the original of the show (maybe last episode) in the prison tower when Steven had that dream like flashback, that basically Pink let out a bunch of weird aliens loose at the ball and stuff and Blue said they are gonna take her Pearl away
28:02 Oh god there was SO much history in that one look.

The name “ black diamond “ gave me PTSD from a couple months ago from the Steven universe ocs..
Also that each of the Pearls has their gem in the same spot as the matching Diamond.
@@declanmckenna6854 that's literally what I said XDDD
OK KO is fantastic and I would love to see you react to it, it’s generally more lighthearted in tone than SU but it does have a pretty fun story too.

OK K.O. is honestly one of my top 5 favorite shows of all times.
Save the Light is actually a sequel to the mobile game Attack the Light, and has it's own sequel called Unleash the Light.

(It was made by the same people that made Steven Universe)
And there are two more Steven Universe games after Save the Light. All three of the games are cannon to the show.
I literally can't watch these episodes without remembering the Shitiverse Future series. It's like Steven Universe Future Abridged and it's hilarious.
I’m dying! I’m dead! I’m dead Rose Quartz! 😂😂
Given Pearl’s color, it is a theory that she was one of White Diamond’s pearls and she was given to Pink after White took Volleyball away for cracking her
"is that black diamond?? is that a thing" oh god
Edit: I just googled it, the three games are (In order):
1) Attack the Light
2) Save the Light
3) Unleash the Light.
