Just for clarification, Aquamarines are different gems than Lapises and serve different purposes. Aquamarines can't really "control" water like Lapises but their wand makes up for it as they can dismantle fusions and control its target. I assume not all Aquamarines are high priority or powerful like this one.

Scoots attention to detail sometimes is just 🤯. There's not many reactors out there who noticed both the fact that Aquamarine was looking for Greg when she said "my dad" and also caught onto the fact that Lars was still on the ship at the end of the last episode

Yeah he really pays attention to detail and that’s why his reactions are amazing. A lot of reaction TH-camrs either derail from the show or don’t go that far into what’s happening (also only go that far at the end of the reaction after most is figured out).

His attention to detail is so random. He got that "my dad" meant Greg but missed it completely when she called herself Aquamarine when they snatched up Connie.
steven is an empath who does not have great control of his emotions (I mean what child does?) that is an apparent theme throughout the show. not only that but his emotions are extremely powerful and literally fuel his abilities. him getting overwhelmed during fights makes complete sense with who he is as a person. I get that it can be frustrating but keep that in mind instead of getting “mad”
The callback to them using Steven's list from all the way back in season 1 BLEW MY MIND when I first saw this! And Steven's "I love you" at the end wrecks me every time. Season 5 bout to be lit, banger after banger.
Also hazbin hotel is great! But there's only a pilot. There's another sister show called helluva boss I hear is real good too though. Hazbin Hotel show should be coming Soon (TM) though so I'm hopeful for that!

Man, the twist of them using the list of people steven gave peridot in season 1 was not only MIND BLOWING back when this episode aired, it's also just absolutely crazy as a plot device. I know you're in season 5 but I hope you understand now why we've been hyping up these episodes :)
The CGs had a really tough time even attempting to take on Aquamarine, primarily because of the wand that she had. Remember, Peridot said that recent shortages of resources on Homeworld have resulted in fewer and fewer gems really having a lot of powers, or at the very least, the Diamonds have spread propaganda that certain gems don’t have powers from the get-go, and then they never train or unlock their powers. Items like that wand, or Peridot’s former limb enhancers, have been made to accommodate the lack of resources.
Aquamarine can obviously fly, but the wand is a nice boost that Garnet and Pearl-two who’d fought in the gem war-were unfamiliar with, so it’s clearly recent tech that wasn’t available back then. With that wand, she’s like a weaker enemy in an RPG that just inflicts status conditions or ailments that drag on the fight until you’ve exhausted mana and resources. And then Topaz can of course use the hostages as guards against incoming attacks making it all the more difficult to land a hit. Plus, she’s already bigger than a normal Topaz soldier, since she’s a fusion of the same type of gem.

Aquamarine is a form of beryl, so its main chemical formula will be Be3Al2Si6O18. Specifically, it's beryl that's light blue or light green, a coloration caused by iron ions. You can probably guess from the fact that they're both English words, but the name aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua (water) and marina (sea). You know. Because it's ocean-colored. It's a birthstone for March with around a 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale. They're associated with youth, which is fitting for Aquamarine's childlike appearance. It's also the name of the single best mermaid movie out there, Tom Hanks can fight me.
Topaz is a nesosilicate mineral with a formula of Al2SiO4(F,OH)2, and please, if anyone in the comments knows more than me about chemistry, could you please explain what the comma is doing in that formula? The name origin is a little complicated, as it's probably derived from Topázios, an island in the Red Sea where they used to mine a yellow stone. These days, that stone is believed to actually have been a form of olivine, but by the time we reached that decision people were already using the word topaz for this other yellow rock. A solid 8 on the Mohs scale, birthstone for November. We haven't seen much of the Topazes' personalities, so I'll save the symbolism for another time.
I haven't watched Hazbin Hotel, only seen some titles show up in my feed. I've been enjoying your reactions, though, so I'm thinking that if you were to start reacting to it, that would be my final push to actually watch it myself.

I would ABSOLUTELY watch your reactions to Hasbin Hotel and especially Helluva Boss. Idk if you know, but Hsabin hotel doesent have any actual episodes yet, only the pilot. Helluva boss is set in the same universe but has many more episodes. And also as a heads up: Helluva boss gets much better and funnier as it goes on. Love your reactions :)

Thinking Aquamarine was actually an aqua marine is pretty funny, but also super understandable given that you've stated several times you don't know your gems, and were in the military. I feel like that's the kind of wordplay they should have used for a joke in an episode but I don't think they ever do.

I love Hazbin Hotel as well as its sister show Helluva Boss but because they seem to be so far off from what you normally react to, I would recommend watching the ADDICT MV and/or Helluva Boss S1E1 (reaction or not doesn't matter) as they're short and you can get an idea of what the Hazbin Hotel pilot will be like before fully committing to the half hour. They're not perfect ideas but they're good enough. Ans hey, if you like Hazbin, Helluva's just started it's second season so there's plenty more in the VivzieVerse to watch

Scoot, hearing you talk about this show and the way you said in the last chunk of episodes and this one that you hate the whole status and rank thing and that people are just people so treat them as such makes me think you'd really enjoy Mob Psycho 100. It's my favorite anime and shares a lot of similar themes with Steven Universe. It's not very long either and the third season is coming out very soon. I really hope you might consider watching it in the future bc both the animation and story are fire and I'd love seeing your reaction to it. It's got a weird art style that I know turns some people away but I think it really adds to it once you get used to it.

@Scoot all the gems in the show are named after there actual real life gem counter parts, unless explicitly specified otherwise with nicknames or something of some sorts

I have to disagree with you saying steven made the wrong move. Aquamarine literally had everyone frozen in place. They had nothing they could do. If they had fought, they'd have definitely lost.
yea I was mad when Connie got angry at him about that. I get where she's coming from but it truly was an impossible situation. I really can't think of any other way how he could've gotten them to leave the humans alone after all this time and he only had a split moment to think of a solution

Edit: to explain, on the channel vivzie pop there's two series going on, Hazbin Hotel which hasn't actually happened yet, only the pilot, the real series will actually be airing on TV if I'm correct. And Helluva Boss, which has a pilot, and 8 episodes. Interestingly enough though despite season 2 episode 1 happening, season 1 hasn't finished yet for a few reasons regarding copyright. Either way please watch these.

Garnet...or rather the Crewniverse who write her this way...is getting on my last nerve for effing around in a serious situation. She's supposed to be the experienced and steady leader of the Crystal Gems, not a dispenser of ran-dumb humor. "I like me" indeed. Also curious that neither Garnet nor Pearl could even guess from Steven's description that the new mystery Gem was an Aquamarine, as they later certainly recognized the name itself and its significance.
We can't say from canon whether Aquamarine's combination stasis and tractor beam projecting wand is pure Gem tech or is something that amplifies an already existing power possessed by Aquamarines, although I suspect it's the latter.
Odd thing about the list of humans: presumedly it's Yellow Diamond following up on her promise to Blue Diamond in That Will Be All; however, YD would know from recently-rescued Eyeball that those humans on Peridot's list are apparently closely associated with the "Steven" whom they would know is probably Rose Quartz in disguise, and consequently they would be the very last humans either YD or BD would want to save from Earth's destruction by The Cluster. So, either Aquamarine was sent before Eyeball got back to Homeworld, or Yellow Diamond only wanted these human allies of Rose Quartz for something like perverted Gem/human fusion experiments.
"It's so easy even you could have done this, Topaz"...once again, the standard Gem behavior of superiors sneering at their "inferiors". And the Diamonds wonder how any Gem would follow Rose Quartz.
Aquamarine is good at changing tactics...she realized that her wand's beam has a limited field, and so she couldn't it against attacks coming from more than one direction, and when she and Topaz were suddenly surrounded by GAP she threatened to kill Jamie if they didn't back off.
The wand's field is what people should remember when they say that Stevonnie would have been no match for Aquamarine. True, but as Stevonnie they would have sliced up Topaz while Aquamarine was overconfidently enjoying her moment, and by the time she turned toward Stevonnie the main hatch was being pulled open by Alexandrite. So, Aquamarine couldn't use her wand against either foe without leaving herself open to attack by the other.
Steven's object was never to defeat Aquamarine, his plan was simply to literally bust out the hostages and then surrender to Homeworld, based on faulty conclusions about the "war criminal" Rose Quartz that he apparently never discussed with Connie or anybody else. This will have consequences later.

Aquamarine is not a lapis she a beryl such as Emeralds, Bixbites, Morganites, Heliodor, Goshenites and Aquamarines are all Beryls. Now lapis is in the sodalite family. Topaz is a quartz know your gemology diamonds are the hardest materials on earth.

About the question at the beginning. I have series recommendations...
And I think most who have seen these will recommend it too.
One of them is the one you say "hazbin Hotel", But the one that has the same vibes as this one (because hazbin hotel doesn't have new episodes and doesn't have many, it only has 1 I think) is "helluva boss" it's amazing.
3 other series that are amazing are "My Metal Family" (a web series here on TH-cam from Russia, which has its own channel in English).
Another web series that is amazing is "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared", it's very good.
Finally, another series that I have not seen completely but that has good episodes is "Moral Orel" its last episodes are disturbing.
