My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

1st time I went to Bingo, I won and gave my mom the money spent on cards, bought my 4 siblings summer shorts and tops and had $$ left over for me. It was a prize of $25 in 1976. When a bottle of pop was 17 cents. I remembered when it went up to 25 cents, I swore I'd stop drinking pepsi. 😂😂
I remember walking an extra Mile to go to a further store that sold chocolate bars for 0.09 cents instead of the 10 cents at grocery store closer to us.

When I was a young teenager I would accompany my mum to bingo, didn't play, just watched and looked forward to goodies during the intermission. However I would always go outside for a while during the intermission as well. I think it's how we introverts handle being around people, we need breaks!😊

A lot of supermarkets in Japan have _free water servers_ for people who want to fill’er’up.
They are also super filtered and reverse osmosis etc. etc. type servers.
People come in with 5 liter jugs….

That’s nuts to pay that much for water. I get reverse osmosis water 18 litres for $2.85 in Cambridge Ontario. I buy a plan every year, because my pets and household drink it. I have a water softener so you can’t drink that stuff.

Great video, they always are but a few things I loved in this one, the look on your face when you went to the lake is pure contentment, when you hugged your mom when you went for a coffee, I love how close you are, going to bingo with mom and dad, you looked so cute with your parents spending a quality night with them, so many people don't do simple things in life but pitting themselves out and doing things they wouldn't normally do, your parents are so cool your clearly a very close family, your dad is super cool in his Dixon. I'm with you Matthew when you asked if they did that for fun 🤪 Im Native American and it's supposed to be our inate pass time, however it stresses me to the max to play BINGO when everyone else is just dobbing away with a rhythm that makes my head spin!!
