BMW made the best decision to just launch the IX as the only ground up EV and develop all the newer models as both ICE and EV on the same platform, where the market dictates they could just scale back without having to cut multiple models nor offer discounts. Whoever was in the boardroom and made that decision won.
Because the new 5 series is designed for multiple driving mechanisms(PHEV, ICE and EV), therefore i5 is oversize outside while interior isn't that big, worse is i5 still has a center pillar long the interior. It is inefficient compare to a pure EV platform.
IX is ugly and fro a ground up design has bad packaging. Meanwhile the BMW mixed use platforms are all crap compared to dedicated offerings from competitors. BMW is lost.

So people actually want an EV there, there’s a “crisis” now in other countries because EVs are so expensive and not very desirable to own, so the market crashes.
Ev’s no matter the manufacturer have plummeted in the last year. But the luxury mb/Porsche/audi have the largest drops. You save 30% on a 6month old on cost new.

Used EQE prices merge among 350, 500 and 43. So, a price differentiator is rather the availability of factory options. The most valuable one is the air-suspension because of the long axl distance (sometimes there is not enough clearing height to get over bumps or even go down on ramps).... Thanks for the video!!!
Only one question remains. How much this car will be worth in few years time when EV technology will be dead or ten times better. I guess you will have to pay extra to someone to take this car away from you.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have a digital display at the charging socket, so one can see the status of the battery in realtime at any point for all EV cars?.. just curious
I haven't driven this car, but I'm skeptical that adjusting the recuperation realtime as you're approaching a stop is a wise way of driving. Recuperation function from accelerator lift is not really well modulated. It's more like a timing function. So you learn to anticipate given your speed, how early you need to lift, knowing how much recuperation you're using when you'll stop without switching to instead use the brake. That's one pedal driving, and if you're not one pedal driving at all, then you'll be using your brakes anyway and the "engine braking" effect of mild recuperation is just weird. So I'd argue that using a single setting for recuperation allows you to learn and master how much you get when you lift. Dynamically adjusting it is not like downshifting, or if it is the way you're using it, it's still not as predictable as just one pedal driving with max recuperation. I've heard many people argue they need a coast mode to maximize range on the highway, and that's only true for very long inclines that are dramatically steep and where you're ok building speed (not worried about speeding tickets/cameras). Even in one pedal driving situation, you learn to use the dead zone in the pedal position where you are neutral gliding. The display should show you that it's happening. So again, choosing your favorite recuperation and then having a predictable pedal not an unpredictable one that's changing how it reacts to lift is the better choice, IMO.
The EQE53 you sat in was not the top spec… The top spec car is easily identifiable, it has gold callipers over carbon ceramic discs. It’s also significantly faster and has the sound experience, which makes a big difference.
The thing that worries me, because the battery pack is expensive to remove, as you will need to as you get age and usage breakdown of the cells, once you've paid the £5K to take it off, replaced the dud module(s) with pre-owned ones, then re-instate the pack, then when it happens again after 18, you do it again? If we look at cars with massive initial costs, and very expensive parts that fail, this is what causes "zero'isation" in terms of value. So if you buy a 3 year old Taycan at £50K, you're looking at depreciation of £4.2 to £8.3K per year, assuming either 15 or 9 years of total vehicle life. There will be a point that these vehicles will not be worth fixing. There won't be a magic cure. Plus your weight figures (and I assume for the Merc as well) are wrong. Porsche itself told me, after I asked when buying, after MUCH resistance, that it's 2.7 to 2.9t. And the salesman said, that "on the road", over 3t.
"EV Crisis"? What crisis? More EVs are sold every year than the year before, and that trend will continue into 2024. Of course the pace is slowing down... this is the normal progression of any product's life cycle as it matures and moves from early adopters to more mainstream buyers and at lower prices. Anyone who keeps talking about how EVs are failing are either anti-EV haters with an agenda or TH-camrs posting clickbait for views from doom-scrollers.
