The good new for everybody is that with the recent research on brain plasticity any child can easily recover from speech delay and become like a child with very fluent communication. My son had brain injury but as I often talk to him with Signs and read books, now at 2years old he is recovering little by little and Im sure will become very smart with good communication thank God !

Hi Kayla. I suddenly developed a Speech Impediment when i was 10 years old through Mental Trauma. A death in my close family brought this about almost instantly. It started as a Stutter which i lived with right through my very difficult Teenage years. It evolved to become a Stammer in my late Teens and Twenties. Through my thirties and into my Forties it has changed once again to become a Speech Impediment where i struggle to say words with certain Letters or Vowels to the point where i can't get the words out or begin to form the words. People's patience and understanding goes a long way in helping people who suffer from these debilitating disorders. My son used to get a lot of virus infections as a baby, he was hospitalised a couple of times. He started talking at around 2y 5mo. I didn't worry much about him because he could understand instructions and communication from us.
I found out my son who was silent and no interaction was anaemic 7 weeks ago. I now have a toddler who is making eye contact, babbling, screaming, noise non stop since heavy iron supplements. I am in shock. His autism diagnosis was just put back today for 6 months instead of 3 months away. Our speech path sees him weekly and can’t quite believe how quickly things are changing. I never realised a deficiency could do this much damage to my baby. I am hoping and praying we can reverse the last year of it.

We were given a Level 3 diagnosis and a grim future and he is now strong, healthy and starting to talk at 4.5. He got diagnosed at the same age as your little one. You can do it!
Thanks but you forgot to talk about impact of Smartphones, Tv and screens in general that have a big impact in speech delay. Lack of communication with the baby too. For example when you have babies who went to nursery since 3months and the parents work a lot dont have time to communicate with the child it may causes speech delay too. But really Now there is a lot of researches showing bad impact of screens on children
Or lip and tongue tie!? Very important, my son wasn't diagnosed till he was almost 2 with a dentist and not by his doc that had been seeing him since birth!
My oldest child is autistic and has adhd. His speech was never delayed, but he struggles with articulation so severely that up until a couple years ago nobody could understand him. He is still difficult to understand today. Interestingly enough though, my two younger children also have articulation issues, yet are neurotypical. I truly believe they have become so accustomed to hearing their brother talk the way he does, that they see it as the norm. Although they hear plenty of typical speech from me and others, their big bro literally never stops talking and enjoys drowning others out with his speech 🤣 I'm hoping that their impediment will be easier to treat than his has been.
can change in culture and language have something to do with it. Cause I was originally born in the states went to Korea at 3 months old and didn't comeback until I was 3 years old and didn't speak english then.
My niece is almost 17 months old but she only says mama. She used to say dada, Bubba, yeah, dog, no, and want but she lost time over a week. She has frequent ear infections but can follow directions and responds to people talking to her. Her aunt and father's cousin are both autistic so she had a family history of that.
I have cerebral palsy I was premature and low birth weight. I knew that my flow of speaking was different especially when I was younger but I didn't identify it as a speech impediment until the doctors that I have now noticed it

My daughter just turned 2 in december 2018. She was in a daycare and watched tv whole day for that year 1. And shes brilliant. She learnt colours, letters, numbers, shapes, animals, and much more from tv. She says full sentences. I dpnt think tv delays it. Well maybe in certain kids

Yes! Frequent ear infections in the first ears of life can cause hearing loss! Certain medications, particularly cancer treatment drugs, can also damage the auditory nervous system. Many things can cause hearing loss after passing that first screening, so take them to the audiologist regularly!!!!
Do you have a video on Nutrition and what you suggest and your findings? I'm very interested in this as my little guy fell off the charts with growth. It was to be expected as he was low birth weight and I know and am very on top of everything for him...however I'm constantly seeking nutrition tips and since you are a therapist I'm even more interested in hearing your ideas and findings!! Now I understand. Thank you so much. My landlady babysits two kids boot have speech. The boy 4 & the girl 1 & half. At 4, the boy calls everyone mum, but I also notice too much crying & sudden outburst of aggressive ranting from the boy you know, randomly smashing things around in the house & lengthy crying which can go on for 3 hours. The girl sweet & friendlier but the boy is aggressive especially to his father. He would scratch & kick his dad often when he comes around. I suspect these kids are beaten - common thing in black parenting unfortunately because (I'll beat you) is the only line both of them can almost spell perfectly & any chance, they both love repeating over & over & over. The young parents though, clearly are avoiding their parenting responsibilities because the kids leave with my landlady & sometimes for two weeks they don't come to visit their kids :( I suspect autism because especially the boy show repetitive behaviour - he would face the wall & repeats gibberish to an imaginary friend & this scares me. You literally have to drag him out of it or he wouldn't stop it's like he would get a fit moment talking to the wall but aggressive gibberish.

I've been trying to find out how to help my 4 year old son for 2 years now since his docs are clueless. He repeats the last part of words & raises pitch with each repeated syllable. He says he sees numbers when he hears music, he was 5 weeks overdue, tracking with his eyes & holding his head up the day he was born, he is hyper, taught himself to read before 18 months, was mobile at 4 months, started speaking at 3 months & speaking in sentences by about 10 months. He is brilliant, but seems to need help with finishing words and not adding syllables to them. Thoughts?

Hello! Thank you for all the videos you have shared. Im eager to use some exercises with my 30month old boy. He can sing from memory, counts to 20 in two languages, knows all the colors, shapes, animals, the abcs. Has been seen by a pediatric neurologist and he didnt see signs of autism. He is very sociable, but shy at first. He also responds to us very well, and connects with us. But at daycare they continue to alarm me he doesnt follow the instructions, he is behind in fine motor skills and problem solving; etc. He is very smart, they always praise him on that, and has great memory, but is very hyper, and lacking some fine motor skills at this age. Speech therapy has been suggested by the daycare teacher. But I cannot afford it. Would love to know your general opinion on this. I do understand is not as good as getting an evaluation. But I just wonder of he might in fact be autistic. I should mention he did have chronic ear infections right after turning 1, and not until 18 months did he get the tubes put in.

My son was the same when he was little. He got lots of ear infections and got tubes put in for I can't remember how long. We were very concern because at 3 years old he couldn't say a word. The doctor referred him to a speech therapist but I didn't see any improvement so I pulled him out. Some thought he was autistic. But some people said that every child develops in their own phase and not to worry too much. As parents you can't help not to worry. At 3 1/2 he started talking and to our surprise, he knows his numbers and alphabets. He started school with no problem.
My son is 5 years old and has a speech delay. I’m worried because he is getting older and I’m afraid he won’t learn to speak. will this go away on its own or does he need to have speech therapy? his hearing is fine and he knows how to follow orders and directions. I recently taught him how to count to ten but his vocabulary is very limited and sometimes its hard to understand what he says. he’s been in TK this year and I see that all the kids in his class have very good vocabulary and they can all talk very well.
Hi! I am sure this is a hard thing for you and your family to experience. I hope he is in speech therapy and if he is I'd encourage you to ask his speech therapist what is going on and ask her what you can expect as har as progress.
It doesn't hurt to have an evaluation of his speech to see if therapy can help! My son has speech and development delays and has been in therapy over the last year and a half. It is CRAZY how much it has helped him and he actually even enjoys it!! He is so much more intelligible and his vocabulary has more probably tripled since starting. Seriously, just get evaluated and put your fears to rest :)
Bianca Rivera he just turned 5 in November and has been in therapy for about a year and a half now. He was pretty well only babbling and we had 3 hearing tests done to ensure that wasn't a problem. He still has his struggles, but it's like night and day compared to where he was when he started!
Marie McNew My son turned 5 in September so they’re very close in age! I’m looking into his school offering him speech therapy but they keep on telling me they will evaluate him but they never do! I’ve asked about it about 3 times and they never give me a straight answer.

My son is almost 2 years old and he has yet to say a single word. We have gotten his hearing tested multiple times and he does have slight hearing loss in his right ear (most likely fluid) but he can hear perfectly out of his left ear and they said he can hear quiet sounds overall. He does also follow simple instructions that I give him. We are still on the road to fixing his ears but they said that this isn't the reason for his speech delay. This has me very confused. He was born at 37 weeks (induced) and only weighed 5 pounds. He shows no other signs of Autism. Your thoughts?
My son is two and a half and he doesn't have any problems with his ears either he can response and do everything i tell him to do, but speaking or saying a single word just doesn't happen, so from what i learn the last few days is to repeat words to him four or five times like bananas, apples or even bottle over the last few days and he is starting to response not saying the actual words but mumbling word sounds even singing to him without T.V or phones and trying to encourage him to sing along. It's a cycle you have to do repetitively and you will see and hear your son starting to make sounds, and just cheer him even if they don't sound accurate it will encourage them and make then happy and you will see results in a few days. Hope this will work for you i tried and it work for mine and were still working on it. :)

My son does'nt have a hearing screening. He's 3years. Do we have to bring him for screening? He is speech delay. Every time we called he sometimes look at us. And when he is 21months he is diagnosed with mild autism.

I have a severe stutter and some words are just impossible for me to say. Also, my stuttering problem is "different" in a sense that it doesn't get worse when public speaking but rather my fluency actually gets better. But it's bad when I am just having regular conversations like with family and in other settings. I know I will have my speech disorder for the rest of my life (unfortunately) but would a SLP be able to help me say those impossible words and other words that can take upwards of 10 seconds for me to say?
Hello, thanks for all your videos. My friend’s parents look after their grandchild and just keep him in their bedroom (quite big) all day and denies him any time with his cousins (1 and 2 years older). The grandparents aren’t really much of a taker either. So they keep him in the room and he runs around in there and watches youtube videos all day. He is 21 months old and doesn’t speak a word. He still babbles. He also have a pacifier in his mouth most times as well. Does all this relate to delayed speech? The Midwife said he is 90% autistic but he does laugh, and also when he wants something he will grab our hands and push us to what he wants. He does have eye contact and sometimes does look when we call his name. He does run to his mum when she calls him as well. It is speech delay or autism??
Khaled Hasan does the midwife or doctor say anything? Do they recommend speech therapy etc? It appears that he is reaching his milestones but just not interested in talking
Khaled Hasan preschool for us is Australia starts at 3 year old so there’s not much we can do and especially the grandparents are very protective and don’t allow him to have any time with other kids
Nice video, I’ve been discouraged by my Canadian doc that my daughter won’t be able to talk and it made me worried 😟 which I didn’t believe doctor isibor herbal medicine proved them wrong, she’s 5 now and communicates better 😍😍
She has a sweet soft voice. Nothing wrong with her voice. If I want it louder I can turn up the volume. Some of these videos on TH-cam are recorded so loud. I’m glad she’s not so loud. Great video.

At 4, the boy calls everyone mum, but I also notice too much crying & sudden outburst of aggressive ranting from the boy you know, randomly smashing things around in the house & lengthy crying which can go on for 3 hours. The girl sweet & friendlier but the boy is aggressive especially to his father. He would scratch & kick his dad often when he comes around.
I suspect these kids are beaten - common thing in black parenting unfortunately because (I'll beat you) is the only line both of them can almost spell perfectly & any chance, they both love repeating over & over & over. The young parents though, clearly are avoiding their parenting responsibilities because the kids leave with my landlady & sometimes for two weeks they don't come to visit their kids :(
I suspect autism because especially the boy show repetitive behaviour - he would face the wall & repeats gibberish to an imaginary friend & this scares me. You literally have to drag him out of it or he wouldn't stop it's like he would get a fit moment talking to the wall but aggressive gibberish.

Is it wrong to give in to a child's babbling? Like, if a 3 year old mostly just speaks gibberish and his family acts like he's really talking, is that bad for him?

I've been trying to find out how to help my 4 year old son for 2 years now since his docs are clueless. He repeats the last part of words & raises pitch with each repeated syllable. He says he sees numbers when he hears music, he was 5 weeks overdue, tracking with his eyes & holding his head up the day he was born, he is hyper, taught himself to read before 18 months, was mobile at 4 months, started speaking at 3 months & speaking in sentences by about 10 months. He is brilliant, but seems to need help with finishing words and not adding syllables to them.

Hello! Thank you for all the videos you have shared. Im eager to use some exercises with my 30month old boy. He can sing from memory, counts to 20 in two languages, knows all the colors, shapes, animals, the abcs. Has been seen by a pediatric neurologist and he didnt see signs of autism. He is very sociable, but shy at first. He also responds to us very well, and connects with us.
But at daycare they continue to alarm me he doesnt follow the instructions, he is behind in fine motor skills and problem solving; etc. He is very smart, they always praise him on that, and has great memory, but is very hyper, and lacking some fine motor skills at this age.
Speech therapy has been suggested by the daycare teacher. But I cannot afford it.
Would love to know your general opinion on this. I do understand is not as good as getting an evaluation. But I just wonder of he might in fact be autistic. I should mention he did have chronic ear infections right after turning 1, and not until 18 months did he get the tubes put in.

My son was the same when he was little. He got lots of ear infections and got tubes put in for I can't remember how long. We were very concern because at 3 years old he couldn't say a word. The doctor referred him to a speech therapist but I didn't see any improvement so I pulled him out. Some thought he was autistic. But some people said that every child develops in their own phase and not to worry too much. As parents you can't help not to worry. At 3 1/2 he started talking and to our surprise, he knows his numbers and alphabets. He started school with no problem.
My son is 5 years old and has a speech delay. I’m worried because he is getting older and I’m afraid he won’t learn to speak. will this go away on its own or does he need to have speech therapy? his hearing is fine and he knows how to follow orders and directions. I recently taught him how to count to ten but his vocabulary is very limited and sometimes its hard to understand what he says. he’s been in TK this year and I see that all the kids in his class have very good vocabulary and they can all talk very well.
Hi! I am sure this is a hard thing for you and your family to experience. I hope he is in speech therapy and if he is I'd encourage you to ask his speech therapist what is going on and ask her what you can expect as har as progress.
It doesn't hurt to have an evaluation of his speech to see if therapy can help! My son has speech and development delays and has been in therapy over the last year and a half. It is CRAZY how much it has helped him and he actually even enjoys it!! He is so much more intelligible and his vocabulary has more probably tripled since starting. Seriously, just get evaluated and put your fears to rest :)

Bianca Rivera he just turned 5 in November and has been in therapy for about a year and a half now. He was pretty well only babbling and we had 3 hearing tests done to ensure that wasn't a problem. He still has his struggles, but it's like night and day compared to where he was when he started!

My son turned 5 in September so they’re very close in age! I’m looking into his school offering him speech therapy but they keep on telling me they will evaluate him but they never do! I’ve asked about it about 3 times and they never give me a straight answer.

My son is almost 2 years old and he has yet to say a single word. We have gotten his hearing tested multiple times and he does have slight hearing loss in his right ear (most likely fluid) but he can hear perfectly out of his left ear and they said he can hear quiet sounds overall. He does also follow simple instructions that I give him. We are still on the road to fixing his ears but they said that this isn't the reason for his speech delay. This has me very confused. He was born at 37 weeks (induced) and only weighed 5 pounds. He shows no other signs of Autism. Your thoughts?
My son is two and a half and he doesn't have any problems with his ears either he can response and do everything i tell him to do, but speaking or saying a single word just doesn't happen, so from what i learn the last few days is to repeat words to him four or five times like bananas, apples or even bottle over the last few days and he is starting to response not saying the actual words but mumbling word sounds even singing to him without T.V or phones and trying to encourage him to sing along. It's a cycle you have to do repetitively and you will see and hear your son starting to make sounds, and just cheer him even if they don't sound accurate it will encourage them and make then happy and you will see results in a few days. Hope this will work for you i tried and it work for mine and were still working on it. :)

My son does'nt have a hearing screening. He's 3years. Do we have to bring him for screening? He is speech delay. Every time we called he sometimes look at us.

I have a severe stutter and some words are just impossible for me to say. Also, my stuttering problem is "different" in a sense that it doesn't get worse when public speaking but rather my fluency actually gets better. But it's bad when I am just having regular conversations like with family and in other settings. I know I will have my speech disorder for the rest of my life (unfortunately) but would a SLP be able to help me say those impossible words and other words that can take upwards of 10 seconds for me to say?

My friend’s parents look after their grandchild and just keep him in their bedroom (quite big) all day and denies him any time with his cousins (1 and 2 years older). The grandparents aren’t really much of a taker either. So they keep him in the room and he runs around in there and watches youtube videos all day. He is 21 months old and doesn’t speak a word. He still babbles. He also have a pacifier in his mouth most times as well. Does all this relate to delayed speech? The Midwife said he is 90% autistic but he does laugh, and also when he wants something he will grab our hands and push us to what he wants. He does have eye contact and sometimes does look when we call his name. He does run to his mum when she calls him as well. It is speech delay or autism??

She has a sweet soft voice. Nothing wrong with her voice. If I want it louder I can turn up the volume. Some of these videos on TH-cam are recorded so loud. I’m glad she’s not so loud.
