Indeed. It was the home of a very influential billionaire investment banker who passed away three years ago. His family has extensive properties around the world and perhaps didn't see the need to keep a leasehold house in Eaton Square.

The upstairs living room is the only room I like, with its wood-panelled walls and giant curvy sofa. The rest of the house has way too much marble and more of a museum feel than a home. I've always been curious to see inside an Eaton Square house. The Grosvenor Group owns most of the freeholds on Eaton Square, owned by the young Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster. One interesting feature of this square is the sheer number of security guards who patrol up and down the pavement outside these houses. I counted 8 security guards if you include both sides of the square.

The previous owner - Moldovan Oligarch or perhaps a Columbian Drug Cartel Head - has clearly spared no expense in vomiting as much chintz at every surface as humanly possible.
Step 1 - buy it and insure it for 60m
Step 2 - pay one of your criminal underworld contacts to have it burnt to the ground
Step 3 - pocket a cool 20m and buy something that vaguely resembles a home at least

But I'll play along for now and let's assume you were actually best buds with this gazillionaire with questionable 🙄 taste in interior design. I doubt he gives a fling f#ck what some random in this comments section thinks. Especially since as you say - he's dead now. The dead are generally hard to offend.
As for his children who apparently will be offended on his behalf I think it's a bit of a stretch to assume they're subscribers to some random property vlogger and spend their days scouring the comments section for any perceived slights.
In short - you're being absolutely ridiculous. Try not to take life quite so seriously.

Just a few tips for home showing:
    Lavatory, never toilet.
Wash-hand basin in a bathroom, never a sink.
    Communicating bathroom and never ensuite.

Belgravia , that is to say Eaton, is simply my favorite location in London... east London is gorgeous.
I don't mind period architecture matter of fact I love it. However, I'm not a fan of modern - its lack of detail is sold as uncluttered, right... how about just uncluttered between the ears.
But this is just over the top gaudy and conspicuous...
But again, is the counterbalance, the push towards modern has been so pervasive in london, going the opposite direction may have a benefit.

40 million gets you a lot more with no neighbours here in Devon.
Why a 2 bed terrace costs that is crazy! It's essentially what it is.
