I agree with Hoovie on the Coupe SUV. It's like you want to vacation in Miami, your S.O. wants to vacation in San Francisco, so you meet in the middle and vacation in Wisconsin instead. It's just a bad compromise that doesn't give you the experience of either.
Nah. Plenty of people just want the easy entry/exit and better visibility of an SUV. Younger buyers especially like the way the coupe SUV's look and they don't care about maximizing cargo room, especially those who are single. They are all driving GLC and GLS Coupes at the moment, and Hyundai wants a piece of the cake too.
@@MikeKayK Agree. Lot's of people don't own a Mastiff or Great Dane and just don't need the room of a full-size SUV. Genesis did a great job with this.
Genuinely April's garage videos are breath of fresh air, I hope April doesn't loose the kinda kid in candy shop vibes around the cars she likes. stay original and stick to your choices April. this was very entertaining video.
When I bought my Lyriq I had narrowed it down to 2 cars: the Lyriq and the Genesis GV70 electric. Obviously the Lyriq won, but the Genesis was a REALLY nice car. They're building some good stuff.
This argument is tired and played out. Coupe is referring to the sloped rear end. It's not that words have no meaning anymore, but they can and very much do change meaning over time as trends and other things change.
Typically, two doors, but it's more about the sloping roofline and shortening the car. Rear seats, if any, are pretty useless to anyone but children. To quote Wikipedia: Coupé (French pronunciation: [kupe]) is based on the past participle of the French verb couper ("to cut") and thus indicates a car which has been "cut" or made shorter than standard.
I was also NOT a "coupe style" SUV fan. Until, I checked out the economy version. The Buick Envista. All the reviewers comment about what it doesn't have, but adding all the extras would put price out of sight. It's peppy & comfortable & I FIT IN IT!
It's got Wicked Smaht Pahk! Big Papi Approved!! Along with John Krasinski, Chris Evans and Rachel Dratch This thing reminds me a lot of my 2015 Lexus RX350. Of course it's $87k and I paid $28k for mine back in 2017. Not quite the same value. Lexus has almost 74k miles on it now...so no, I won't be buying this cool ride anytime soon. I do wonder about the recent Kia/Hyundai engine reliability issues....so hopefully they fixed that.
You guys are great, but you certainly don't need a random viewer like me telling you that. Your chemistry is sensational. Tyler, you are a goofball, and I find that refreshing, it keeps me coming back for more. Keep up the great work!
These "coupe" SUV's just prove that people still like station wagons, but they want to have a higher driving height, and with the size of trucks and other SUV's getting larger, we are in an arms race of sorts. I don't believe that everyone who buys an SUV is buying it for its storage capacity.
As a European who bought an SUV after owning a sedan, I can say I bought it so that I can get myself, stuff, and my kid out of the car easier. Sedans have focused so much on being sporty/ looking sporty that they have become less practical just for looks. I did consider station wagons, but those are becoming extinct, unfortunately. Plus, in Europe, at least, you for example get an A4 sportwagon and you get all the room in the boot and no room for back passangers.
This is the complete opposite of the 59' Plymouth Fury. Which rumor has it, Corn Pop used to terrorize the streets of Delaware in back in the early 60s.

Cool I love you guys interactions with each other, its awesome, natural, your just being yourself. I'm not a fan of coupe SUVs so I wouldn't buy one. But I've never seen a Genesis product in black, not even on the showroom floor at the dealer. Not even in TH-cam reviews. This is a first for me.
Amazing how much the interior( other than seats) matches the well optioned Kia Carnival. Say what you will about mini vans. But if you have 4 kids. It was the best road trip car we've owned.
I agree it seems to be better than most luxury car brands these days but that's because the bar is low. At the end of the day you still are paying over $85,000 for a fancy Hyundai. That huge screen instead of a real dash makes it look cheap though and undoes the luxury feel.
This mustache ride is... amazing! The Genesis GV80 isn't bad either, just sayin. I guess April didn't get the memo - about not wearing white after Labor Day? I'm ok with this.
There’s really no reason not to hate Coupé SUVs… you’ve basically got a lifted sedan with a cramped second row and the trunk chopped off. For similar curb weight you could either get a performance sedan with actual trunk or a real SUV with cargo room and open second row… So every time I see a Coupé SUV it’s like “Hey, look what I spent too much money on to haul around my golf clubs!”
April, Tyler, Genesis is joining IMSA in the GTP prototype class and the FIA WEC/Le Mans racing series, probably in 2026. That’s how they plan to introduce Genesis to a wider enthusiast audience.
