That car is not crude. It's real. I'm sure it's already sold. $13k for this car with 62k miles is a great price. I want it. I might start shopping. At 65 I'm beyond mid life crisis. This is the perfect sports car for a late life crisis.

You have the shoes and shorts already so why not. They are simple cars not much to go wrong. What does is not hard to fix generally. So why not enjoy life dude, 10k-15k and you can find a nice car. I would have one over a new car anyway they are fixable at home. At 57 I hate how hard/ expensive it is to work on new cars.

$13k for 62k miles is a bit high, especially for an auto L98 car. Prices on these should be higher, but as stated, they made over 360k of them, so they're not uncommon.

It's crude in the sense that it has none of the later, more sophisticated systems. It's a bog standard V8 with a relatively simple fuel injection system.

(And no it didn't look like a Camaro, ride like a Camaro, or even sound like one). Love it or hate all models of the C4 Chevy Corvette, the car sold well over its thirteen model year run. I had a 1984 bought used in 1986. It was an automatic alas, but it was my daily for many years and never gave me a moment's grief. Was surprisingly good in snow as long as it wasn't deep enough to turn the air dam into a snowplow--a couple of times I very carefully backed it up to somebody who was stuck and got them unstuck. I had it over 140 a couple of times--it felt rock-stable at that speed, no drama at all. Took many 1000+ mile drives in it and it was a comfortable cruiser. Heat wasn't great--don't know if that was a design issue or if there was an issue with mine. Might get another one at some point, although a C8 is tempting. Paid about 14K for mine IIRC.

The C4 is the first "modern" Corvette from which all future Corvettes were born from until C8.
C4 still holds land speed records and dominated SCCA sports car racing to the point a separate series had to be developed for it.
The C4 isn't fiberglass and it doesn't get spider web cracking.

@@C4VETTELT1 I don't think I've ever seen an original euro spec Corvette in my life here in Europe. 99% of them are later imported from US. The thing is, we can import basically anything and it doesn't have to be 25 years old, we can import even brand new cars. Also used cars in US are super cheap compared to most european countries, shipping is expensive though. Still makes sense financially. So yeah, they can be everywhere and they are everywhere.

a 94-96 with the Targa top are the best ones. Great visibility, weather sealed, quiet interior, 300HP, both mine got 25 mpg on long trips ( both were 4 sp auto )
and they had so much room for luggage and golf clubs. The convertibles had just a tiny shelf under the top area, much like the 1969 I also owned. My 94 and then 95 Vettes also had proximity keys and tire pressure monitor system.

I owned the same 89 corvette with the white top and replaced it with a black top, it looked so much better after replacing the top. The C4 was so futurastic for its day and was a very well made car. Mine had the automatic and it got great gas mileage. Someday they will start appreciating and if you own one, i'd keep it.

There is a '83 Corvette. It's in the museum in Bowling Green. There were production delays, so they cancelled the '83. They had built a few of them (can't remember the number) and GM ordered them crushed. I guess someone hid one and it's now in the museum. I do remember that the last of the C3's we're done in the new Bowling Green plant. Corvette had been built in St. Louis.
I like the convertible body better on the C3, C4, C5 and C6. I never liked the bubble rear glass that they started on the '78. It only looked good on the '63. I actually preferred the convertible on the C2 as well. They finally got the Coupe right on the C7 IMO.

nope, it was not one of the Corvettes swallowed in the sinkhole. There was an ‘84 Pace Car that was involved but not the ‘83.

    • @davep800
      @davep800 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

Nope. Both wrong. Two C4 went in the sink hole. A 1993 Ruby that had been donated to the museum, it was not restored. And the 1,000,000th built Corvette, a white/red convertible 1992 that was recovered, repaired and restored by GM "Styling". I put styling in quotes because I don't recall the exact entity that did the work, but the restoration was completed in-house at GM facilities.
There's no such thing as a 1984 Pace Car, because the Corvette did not pace Indy in 1984.

@@davep800 The Bowling Green Daily News reports that the sinkhole, said to be about 20 ft. deep and 30 to 40 ft. in diameter, triggered motion-detector alarms at 5:38 AM in the dome area of the museum. The eight cars claimed by the sinkhole include the 1993 ZR-1 Spyder, a 2009 "Blue Devil" ZR1, a black 1962 roadster, a 1984 PPG Pace Car, the 1 Millionth Corvette (a white '92 model), a 1993 40th Anniversary Corvette, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Corvette Z06, and the 1.5 Millionth Corvette (a white '09 car). The two ZR1s were on loan from General Motors, while the rest of the cars were owned by the museum.

Of all the "normal" C4's (not including Callaways, Grand Sports or ZO6's), the '89 is my personal favorite. L98- less power than the LT1, but no Opti-spark, ZF 6MT available, with the classic interior and dash as well as the pre-refresh exterior. If that 'vert had the ZF, it would be ideal.

C4 prices are correct. I've owned a C4 (one of the best of that generation, a '96 LT4 manual convertible, polo green w/ tan interior), sold it, bought a '14 C7 coupe a year later. The C4 felt like a go kart on steroids. It was fun to drive fast, but sucked to actually drive somewhere. One of the best garage queens I've ever owned with that gorgeous coke bottle shape and the clamshell hood (pure gearhead porn), I could sit in my garage and just stare at it for hours. Starting it up and putting it in gear would put a smile on your face... for about 10 minutes. And then the squeeks, rattles, hard plastic, and generally cheezy interior just got old.
The C7 still had the Corvette vibe but was a much, much better *car*... a genuine grand touring car with performance that put the C4 to shame
