    Used these directions to get my 2007 ESV struts replaced today. Worked just as described! Thanks so much! One thing I found interesting is that I didn't get an service suspension error code. Looks like I wont even need to install the resistors which is rad. I also chose not the pull the passenger side fender well off, a tight squeeze for those top bolts but workable. Thank you Andy!

    Since I can't leave more than one like I will comment. I have a 2008 Escalade EXT. It only has 97K miles but it has lost it's "Caddy ride". It was rough, feel every bump. The CV axles were making so much noise I wasn't sure they would hold up another day. Today I installed these struts, new CV axles and the bearing/hub assembly on both sides. Holy shit balls what a difference in the ride! No more clacking and popping from the CV axles, such a smooth ride from the new struts and I think my bearing/hub assemblies were OK but I put new ones in anyway. Only thing I don't like is the front end is higher now. Likely this is stock height but my struts were so bad the front end sunk. Maybe it will settle after I drive it some. I only took it around the neighborhood so far. Tomorrow I'm doing the back air shocks, these will be same as stock (active). This should bring the rear end up to the same ride height as the front. I put the resistors in but still getting the "service suspension" and "stabilitrack" dummy lights. I know with these trucks it will take the truck being driven a few times to clear them.

    DIY can make you a millionaire! Seriously! Back in 2015 I bought a 1996 Tahoe. Front suspension needed to replace all the parts on it. Ball joints, bars, arms you name it. So. A local Firestone shop could do it for me for almost $5000!!! One low ball-joint could cost me $270 (and there is 4 of them!) So I bought all the parts in one kit on Ebay for $70! Trust me the same parts they offered me at Firestone. And out of town self-owned shop replace it for me for $600 (I couldn't replace it myself but WTF anyway!) I've spent less than $700 on my front suspension instead of $5000! I paid $800 for entire truck.

      I have the same truck, 2008 EXT. If you are getting the service suspension it could be the back air leveling shocks as well. I get the service suspension on occasion but I know my rear shocks are shot. The pump runs but the air leaks from the bellows on the shocks. I just did the front with the struts in this video today. I am doing the rear tomorrow. I will report back once I get the rear suspension squared away.

    What are the advantages to converting from active to passive?

    • @GreeksGarage
      @GreeksGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The best thing to do is keep them the same, but the biggest advantage to converting them is price. You’re going to spend at least $500 to $600 on each shock. And if you convert them I’ve bought these on Amazon for $180 shipped not included the resistors to bypass the fault code it would throw off in your car.

Have you had much trouble with yours other than routine maintenance? Any insight you can provide on common problems with Escalades from this era would be helpful so I can know what to be on the lookout for! I just bought an 07 but was wondering why you want an 09 or later?.......mechanically 07-13 are almost all identical except flex fuel ......i havent had any problems with mine (bought at 130K) but theyre basically the same vehicle as a tahoe or yukon with expensive suspension and an aluminum 6.2 instead of the iron 5.3......all the 07-13 escalades came with the 6speed 6l80 transmission

      Can the front Z95 shocks be replaced like this? I'm wondering which one's to get as they all say not for Z95 suspension. I have come to discover that the Z95 system is nothing but an expensive headache and would like to convert it to passive. I have already done the rears.

    Why would you make your cadillac ride like a avalanche? You buy a premium car for the premium options and the caddy ride. If not save the money and buy a avalanche lol. My ext front struts are shot at 70k and I'm going back with mag ride struts so I get the same ride and adjustable rear suspension
