I just watched this video again LOL, and noticed the axle tubes are splined with a through bolt going through the housing and tubes. I wonder if the diff housing can be clocked for pinion angle??? That's it, I am ordering a set!!
Hey, Dennis can you please help me out? I am trying to fix my son's HG-407 and it will not stay in 3rd gear. You can push the rod control linkage as far forward as it will go and it will engage 3rd gear but, 3rd gear is just a tiny fraction of the end of the throw. There's only about two mm of throw at the end of the linkage rod you basically have to keep the servo under tension and load pressing against the gearbox to stay in 3rd gear otherwise it slips out. I have tried moving the collet and it still doesn't afford me any throw additional. I wish that I was able to actually open the gearbox but after watching you do it it does look very intricate and complicated in there and I do believe it's probably the shift Forks that are hung up or not fully able to move any further forward to engage the third gear. I really need some help!!! I was about to purchase a gearbox for $85 and drop it into the truck but I am a hobbyist. I'm supposed to figure out how to fix this and not just purchase a gearbox for the $85 and drop it into the truck but I am a hobbyist, I'm supposed to figure fix this thing but being a single dad and having to take care of the kids and then try to fix it, I myself staring into outer space because I am overwhelmed and tired and can actually get this one solved by merely taking it apart.
Hi brother can you remove the front 2 cases on the gearbox to see why its not throwing 3rd gear far enough? maybe you can slightly bend the 3rd gear shift fork to gige it more throw.
Hey Dennis, I thought you would be the best resource for this question. Did you find any new options for the p407? I am looking for stronger Axles so i can at least run a mild brushless system, the current gears are just butter. Preferable with remote lockable difs. Any idea?

i ordered 4 sets of the arb axlesand put 1 set under a rc4wd trail stomper and another set under a scx10 with a yota body and the other 2 set are set aside for future projects,i also got another set of axles ,they are black with red diff covers made for scx10.2 and put them on a jk skeleton chassis with one of those cheap china jeep bodies with the interior.those axle was a little cheaper than the arb axles and they look pretty nice.
Pretty cool DD the rims you have that the studs match the axles you could scanner those on the 3d scanner then modify the hub hole and 3d print the modified rims
I put some rc4wd yota axles under one of my 407s and I had to use wheels with a long offset hub to get the tire away from the shocks.if you build the new chasis you may wand to put the shocks on the inside of the frame. I have a rc4wd bruiserupter and that is how the shocks are mounted on it, then you can tuck the tires in quite a bit more. I like the way they look when they flex and tire tucks into the fender well..it looks more realistic.
I found the military metal wheels for the ca-30 axles you have there $18 asiatees.com king Kong ca30 1.75 I took a screen shot but dont know how to send that to you.
Yes its easy to do, the frame and leaf spring brackets are the same as the tamiya bruiser, its a matter of moving the rear spring brackets back on the mounting holes and drilling a couple new ones to match the bracket,
@@snap_fit8686 I used the yota copies on ebay when I did my 313 conversion, any leaf spring axle can be used, if you do my 4 link conversion any 4 link axle you prefer will work.

I have seen 4mm capped, and lock hubs out on Feepay dirt cheap. That should work with those rotors

Do you know of any decent scale rear axles ~ 135mm wide? I was looking at WPL axles but they lack a diff and have those nylon hex axles.

They come locked, but they sell an open diff for them.
