    I just finihed my truck and used some of your info. I replaced the o-ring with a nitrile one which is more like silicone and doesn't harden. Used the plastic washer and a metal 3mm washer. That cured the liking. I then trimmed both sides of the piston to allow the oil to flow around. I didn't use the plunger or little spring. I did seal the cap threads with teflon tape. I refilled with 30 weight oil. Pushed the shaft 3/4 way in and screwed on the cap. They do have a little air in them but work ok. No leaking though.

    I ended up putting another O ring into the bottom cap of each shock (where you put the extra spacer) and removed the spacer and washer. This worked really well and gave damping without any catching

    White plumbing tape on the top and bottom threads and a spacer, they work great.

    Another great video with very helpful tips. Looking forward to seeing the video of your truck running with the mod. As sure as eggs are eggs, the handling can’t be any worse 😀. Keep up the great work Dennis. PS the Blazing Blazer and original Toyota Pickup used the same shockers as the Holiday Buggy and Sand Scorcher as well as others I think

      Thanks! yeah I hope the shock mod makes it more controllable, It trampolines over the smallest rough terrain at higher speeds lol, I will post another video as soon as it stops raining. thanks for helping me remember the shock applications (getting rusty in my old age lol)

    Don't know if you or anyone else has figured this out but I figured I would put it out there! I bought the axial scx10 shock mounts to put on my hg so I can have a wider option of shocks and they mount up pretty well except on the rear the holes for the body mount posts I had to cut off cause I still have that garbage plastic box on the rear lol! Wish I could put a pic of it on here but I suck with this technology crap.

    • @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol
      @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I have used them on a couple of my rigs and they make upgrading shocks so much easier, funny you mention that plastic radio box lol! I have totally eliminated it on a couple of scale height Toyotas I built.

    Dennis, I had to take my axles out to lock them, as the pins wouldn't go in, but question is this, are the metal upgrade lower shock mounts worth putting in? They're $20 for four, seems odd they made the whole truck metal n skimped on axle mounts!

    • @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol
      @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I say definitely good upgrade for the money, they keep the axles from twisting on the re 2012 bruiser and the hg-p407, the early bruisers had the top support bracket molded on the axles. the plastic mounts collapse over time and let the axle twist on the tiny wedge in between.

    Hi Dennis, I love my clone. I changed the tires and converted the steering to direct servo. I also installed a light kit with 16 LEDs. I use a 6600 battery and a Xerun 550 combo. the idea with the dampers is ingeniously simple. However, I find the suspension with the leaf springs very stiff, do you have any ideas? I have the idea to remove two leaves and only leave the main spring on, but I don't know if that's a good idea, what do you think?

    • @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol
      @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like your upgrades are all good the extra leaf springs can be removed everyone is doing it, I left 2 leafs on the front to help with the gearbox weight and used a single on the rear on my clone.

    Great video. Waiting for my 407, should arrive dec 23... Christmas gift😁 for me.
    Now the question. Could you not just take a metal washer.. easy to go to the nearest hardware store an pick some up?

    • @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol
      @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks bro! ahh the waiting for the fun to arrive! Its going to be a good Christmas for you, I had one of my viewers put a second O ring in if you cant find washers small enough, the hardware stores have lots of cool hardware to upgrade your truck.

      @offroadrunner644 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol Sounds better with a second o ring... no metal that can damage the steem. But should you put oil in there after or just use it as an air damper? In the clip you said no oil right?
      Thanks for the answer!

    • @dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol

      I just lubed the inner shaft and parts, the less resistance with the stiff leaf springs kept it from bouncing out of control.
