Why Israel Matters to Americans

  • There’s undoubtedly a very special relationship between Israel and the United States. Since the establishment of the State of Israel in the British Mandate of Palestine, the two countries have had deep ideological, political and spiritual ties. This unique relationship between the two has resulted in shielding Israel from criticism and accountability for its occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians for over seven decades. Yet can this relationship be explained simply by the role of Zionist lobbying? By U.S. foreign policy objectives? Can American support for Israel be simply explained as continued empathy for the horrors of the Holocaust? Or is the truth closer to home and in the mirror?
In the season finale of Backspace, Sana looks at how the story of Israel has been constructed in the United States - and the very American story at its root, where the indigenous of the land are rendered visible in a very particular way.

Israel drove Palestinians out of their own land in 1948, killing many, and packing the rest into basically a tiny reservation that they’ve regularly bombed and starved in the decades since. Was this video created before 1948? Because since then, they’ve been violent colonists.

They were always the oppressor. To be held accountable for oppressing others is not oppression. Is an inmate a victim? As far as I can see they were always criminal liars willing to use and abuse other people. Lie to cover it up, subvert the truth, use propaganda, prop up their image, blackmail witnesses, defame critics, experiment on people, and even assassinate people. I would still like an explanation of WTF is up with the Bull statue full of fire featuring a belly hatch where what appears to be a living child is placed then the door is closed and smoke comes out of the nostrils? WTF is that?
Pre-published death tolls more than 200 times starting more than 30 years before any events in question. 1868 someone they knew what would happen in the next century accurately. Or they use a false number to account for history and what actually happened. They did not predict the future accurately more than 200 times. They devised a propagandized narrative that became the official narrative. Re-enforced by movies, social media, books, and a careful program of systematically destroying alternative history and prosecution of anyone objectively studying history.
They continue to double down on condemnation of critics because if that facade slips even a little then they will be subject to forensic analysis which will expose their lies and crimes over the centuries. Surely those political players should not be stereotyped and used to paint the entire culture with a single brush. As the global community largely condemns Israels criminal activity.

Key points for quick navigation: 29:57 Examination of Jewish Identity and Anti-Semitism - The Israeli state weaponizes Jewish identity to deflect criticism and silence dissent. - The manipulation of anti-Semitism serves as a shield for Israeli actions. - The connection between state actions and group identities highlights common forms of bigotry. - Societal fears lead to opposition against criticizing Israel due to its appropriation of anti-Semitism. 33:05 Zionism's Cult-like Control - Zionism has created an ideology that deeply intertwines Jewish identity with the state of Israel, creating a form of cultism. - The Israeli state benefits from a culture of anti-Semitism as it controls dissent and justifies its actions. - Recognizing the need for escape from this ideology is crucial for critical dialogue about discrimination and rights. - Historical context suggests that fear has prevented honest debate regarding anti-Semitism and Palestinian rights. 37:52 Historical Context and Zionist Actions - The priorities of the Zionist movement often superseded the welfare of Jews, leading to tragic consequences during the Holocaust. - Zionist leaders actively worked against Jewish rescue efforts that did not benefit their state-building agenda. - Internal conflicts arose between Zionist factions and non-Zionist Jews who opposed their agenda. - Intelligence reports from the time outlined the parallels between Zionism and fascism, revealing deep-seated issues. 47:22 UN Partition and Zionist Strategy - The UN's partition plan for Palestine favored Zionists, despite their previous opposition and violence against Palestinians. - The feigned acceptance of the partition was a tactical move by Zionists to achieve statehood and consolidate power. - Historical documentation illustrates a consistent pattern of terrorism employed by Zionists under the guise of liberation. - The narrative around Israel's creation obscures the reality of Palestinian rights and self-determination. 57:17 Call for Equality and Resolution - The discussion foregrounds the need for a secular, democratic state in which all citizens have equal rights to address historical injustices. - Proposing equality becomes a controversial notion in the context of Israel-Palestine, challenging the existing narrative. - There is an urgent need to confront the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and advocate for justice. - The current global reaction against Israel's actions presents a unique moment to argue for systemic change and accountability.

I'm one of those brainwashed Americans, and I make no apologies! My grandfather was Irish. What a f**king alcoholic loser he was! To the contrary, I am studious. And I know what a Palestinian is. A Palestinian is an Arab, and there are over four hundred million Arabs while there are only about fifteen million Jews. You see, the work "Palestine" is Latin, and it comes from the Greek word, "Philistia." That region, which was roughly where Gaza is presently located, was inhabited by a Mycenaean Greek people known as the Philistines. So, calling modern day Arabs who live in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank Palestinians is a complete lie. There is no relation between an Arab and a Greek. Calling an Arab a Palestinian is a way to fool the world into thinking that these people are an endangered minority, persecuted, Nazi style, by Israel. You have bought into this deception. You have drank the Kool Aid!

If people would educate themselves more about the tragedies all over the World, they would understand why a conflict like the one between Palestine and Israel is born out of hate, discrimination and oppression of one state being portrayed as the victims when he is in reality most of the time the real agressor towards the other state being portrayed as the agressor when this state is in reality the victim.

The Othman Arab Islamic Empire that ruled the place for 500 years might have enjoyed Palestine but the story has changed after the Arabs fought the newly established Israel state and lost the war. .the Arabs conquered Palestine by force in the seventh century and brought a different language, different culture and different genetics.
The origin of Arab genetics, Arab culture, the Arabic language and the religion of Islam is in the Arabian Peninsula, therefore the Palestinians are not indigenous by definition.
Latest ottoman census approximates less than 350'000 inhabitants in Palestine include Jewish.
Tuafiq Bey al-Khorani, the Syrian governor of the Horan, said in 1934 that "over 30,000 Syrians invaded Palestine in a few months".
" Winston Churchill said on 5/22/1939 that Arab immigration during the Mandate period was so great that "their number increased beyond any rate by which even the Jewry of the whole world could increase the number of Jews".
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the USA, said on 17. 5. 1939 that "the immigration of the Arabs to Palestine since 1921 has largely exceeded the immigration of the Jews in the entire recent period"
. In any case this influx of Arabs is evident in the surnames of the Arab families that live today in the land.
In Arab culture the surname indicates your membership of a particular clan and its origin:
El-masri >> originates from Egypt (masr).
El-tachriti >> from tachrit in Iraq.
      Halabi >> from Syria.
      El-lubnani >> from Lebanon.
El-hijazin>> from the hijaz in Saudi Arabia.
      El Kurd >> from Kurdistan.

The reason people dont see the humanity of the Palestinian people is because the Palestinian people behave in an inhumane way.
Hamas is a brutal authoritarian theocratic fascist regime that rules over its people with a brutal iron fist. They wage a never ending war against a vastly superior enemy with no end in sight.
The PA on the other hand, is a corrupt money laundering operation that takes in donations from foreigners by using the IDF occupation sob story, and then shoving as much of that money into their pockets as they can, while murdering ANYONE who dares speak out against them, especially journalists.
Then as for the Palestinian people themselves, all you have to do is simply talk to a Palestinian on the street to learn that they are not interested in peace, co-existence, or democracy. They are interested in one thing: killing Jews and destroying Israel. It is their entire identity. Their entire reason for existing. They go into shopping malls, restaurants, and villages carrying bombs and machine guns and kill indiscriminately with the goal of killing anything and everything in their path.
The Palestinian people are their own worst enemy and if they want us to see them as human, they need to behave like humans.

Appartheid is not democracy, genocide is not war.
There is a lot of evidence of Israel’s long-standing violations of international law. It has unilaterally annexed East Jerusalem, built illegal settlements in the occupied territory, and continued to build the separation wall in the occupied territory despite the International Court of Justice declaring it illegal in 2004.
The UN Special Rapporteur and several human rights organisations (see Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem) have stated that Israel’s system of rule in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is actually apartheid. Restrictions of movement, forced displacement of Palestinian communities, demolition of houses, land grabbing and settler violence and other human rights violations that occur under the occupation are well documented.

Finally someone makes a video analysis on the role of USA in this conflict. People forget that the main reason Israel was created is because the West needed a strong power position/military base in the Middle East region (just like they do with South Korea in Asia). So instead of colonizing Palestine directly, Britain/USA fund the Zionists to do the dirty job for them, give them billions, military, and let Israelis die for them. It's white settler colonialism in modern history. The West creates these conflicts in the Middle East so that the region stays destabilized and would never become a threat. After a century of this happening, our generation forgets and focus more on the problems being religions, political parties, terrorism, etc, which are in reality the symptoms not the cause.

    Bullet points of this video:
    - Israel is portrayed as a victor, pioneer, innovator, and necessary haven in U.S. news media.
    - It's viewed as moral and a democracy, sharing values with the United States.
    - Israel's portrayal is deeply rooted in American history and common values.
    - American exceptionalism is mirrored in the American-Israeli narrative.
    - Both Israel and the U.S. are seen as settler colonial states.
    - Palestinians and their history have been marginalized and disappeared in this narrative.
    - American media has played a significant role in promoting the image of Israel.
    - Israel has been presented as a model for the U.S. in fighting common enemies.
    - The moral authority of Israel has been unquestioned in U.S. media.
    - The cultural history of Israel in the United States is central to its portrayal.
    - The 1960 film "Exodus" and the 1967 Six-Day War reinforced Israel's image in the U.S.
    - Palestinians have been depicted as either terrorists or victims.
    - Honest journalism about Israel should consider its history and impact on Palestinians.
    - Journalism should challenge myths and exceptionalism tying Israel and the U.S.
    - It should not separate Israel from its origins as a European settler colonial project.
    - Good journalism should also acknowledge Palestinian claims to nationhood, resistance, and return.
    - Input from the audience is sought for future topics in the "Backspace" series.

the Arabs conquered Palestine by force in the seventh century and brought a different language, different culture and different genetics..
The origin of Arab genetics, Arab culture, the Arabic language and the religion of Islam is in the Arabian Peninsula, therefore the Palestinians are not indigenous by definition.
Latest ottoman census approximates less than 350'000 inhabitants in Palestine include Jewish.
Tuafiq Bey al-Khorani, the Syrian governor of the Horan, said in 1934 that "over 30,000 Syrians invaded Palestine in a few months.
El Hurani >> from Huran in Syria.
There are dozens more. I’ll send you the complete list if you’re interested.

Thank you for creating this video. I'm an American who lived in Dubai for 4 years and that's when I found out about what's happening to the Palestinians for the first time. Before my time in the UAE, I had only ever heard Palestinians referred to as terrorists by the US news media, so I had no idea about their plight. I think most Americans don't know or understand that they have either been expelled/murdered or imprisoned within their own country and continually oppressed by Israel since 1948. I met so many lovely, gracious, kind-hearted Palestinians in Dubai that I came to realize that most of what is depicted about the Arab World in the West is propaganda designed to make us afraid of Arabs and promote Islamaphobia. Frankly, Araqbs are some the warmest, hospitable, and gracious people I've ever met and it's unfortunate that our government and Hollywood continually want to frame them in a bad light to serve their own selfish end-games.Thank you for bringing much needed light to this subject!

There is no time limit in the definition of colonialism therefor the British will always be considered colonialists in Australia. The origin of Arab culture is in the Arabian Peninsula The source of the Arabic language is in the Arabian Peninsula The source of the religion of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula. On the other hand, the Jews' cultural and genetic origin and the language of the Jews were all created in Levant (Palestine). They did not come from outside, but were created in Levant (Palestine). The Hebrew language is the only Canaanite language that survived. The Jews lived in the land continuously before the Arabs before Islam and Christianity. Jews are considered indigenous by definition because the origin of the Hebrew language, The culture and religion of the Jews originated in the Levant.
True, Jews have been a minority among Muslims and Christians most of the years but the fact that they are a minority does not negate their seniority they are the oldest residents. And the fact that the Arabs are a majority does not make them natives they will always be colonialists like the British in Australia.

Geopolitics, religion and political benefits are the main reason why america is allies with israel.
      Americans want luxury goods.
They want to have security when they travel. They want to support places like hong kong and Ukraine.(we love being the hero to the little guy). They want their threats to be taken seriously and they have learn that trying to intervene in a war the people you are saving values do not line up with your own only leads to wars with no end where no side wants you unless you commit to staying forever.
America cannot show weakness when it comes to their support of thier allies. It is not morally right in this situation, but if we are being honest the only way america could make a change in the Palestine isreal war is by force via military or sanctions, this would breaks rules of being an ally. It does not not help that American values do not line up with Palestinian values as much as they line up with israel.
      TLDR
Palestinian is not as valuable geopolitically as israel. America"s historical background of being a nation of Christian values ensures that america will allways chooose israel over Palestine. America will not fight wars where they have to stay foever in order for peace to stay.
Side note: i hate that it is this way. But the world is not black and white. Context can literally make someone say as long as it is the "right people", killing, raping, and destroying innocence is okay. As long as it is the right innocent people, evil is okay. Hence why trying to compare the death of Israeli to Palestinian deaths feels unbalanced and cuase for anger. Go back 22 years and americans after 911 where extremely racist and prejudices against mulim background countries, going so far that the gerneral public where okay with america starting wars in the middle east becuase "they attacked us first". We killed countless people in our bid for revenge of 911.
The same people that are protesting the way Palestine are being treated is the same people that protest the war in the middle east. Where we spent millions of dollors shooting missile to kill terrorists, but ended up killing many civilians, cilvilans that just wanted to live their lives, their stories went unherd just as much as Palestiniana atrocities. Their is no good choice were blood is not on our hands and america will support "their own". History show us that power, money and moral justifications have and will always lead to innocent dying.

You may have stressed that the main reason for US support of Israel is not cultural and political affinity etc, etc,, the main reason is foreign policy interest. Israel remains, and will always remain an American police presence in the heart of the Arab world to serve American interests when necessary. Saudi Arabia and other friends can defect but Irael cannot so Americans of all sorts, even anti-Semites, in their national interest support Israel. If America and the Arab world became close and permanent friends, support for Israel would dissipate.

@@soniahemmati2372 yes love and unconditional support for a nation that just took the land from Palestinians and not only that they are trying to bring down America from within to implement their Communist agenda you only have to read some of the verses from the Talmud to realise these people can never be trusted they want total control and with the help of their Christian kiss arses they will not rest untill they achieve their goals.

This is quite funny rationalization but bears no basis in reality. Israel acts contrary to many American interests including selling American weapons technology to americas adversaries after being subsidized for these purchases with foreign policy aid.
Also an apartheid state against Arab people that is one of the roots of conflict in the Middle East is not supportive of American interests but instead endanger them. Israel has also participated in no American led Middle East wars. What kind of ally doesn’t send their soldiers to their “closest ally’s war?”
Perhaps a discussion of money in U.S. politics and where that money comes from is a much more direct reason for U.S. government support of Israel.

the Arabs conquered Palestine by force in the seventh century and brought a different language, different culture and different genetics..
The origin of Arab genetics, Arab culture, the Arabic language and the religion of Islam is in the Arabian Peninsula, therefore the Arabs calling themself Palestinians are not indigenous to Palestine by definition.
arabs indigenuos to the Aribian peninsula.
Latest ottoman census approximates less than 350'000 inhabitants in Palestine include Jewish.
Tuafiq Bey al-Khorani, the Syrian governor of the Horan, said in 1934 that "over 30,000 Syrians invaded Palestine in a few months.
" Winston Churchill said on 5/22/1939 that Arab immigration during the Mandate period was so great that "their number increased beyond any rate by which even the Jewry of the whole world could increase the number of Jews".
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the USA, said on 17. 5. 1939 that "the immigration of the Arabs to Palestine since 1921 has largely exceeded the immigration of the Jews in the entire recent period".
El Hurani >> from Huran in Syria.

I just saw your face and understood what you were going to say, so the truth is that you are a born liar because that's what Arab liars do. Israel is mentioned in the entire Tanach thousands of times, the nation of Israel was born 3500 years ago, Islam was born 1400 years ago, and it is written in the Koran that the people of Israel received this land from God, and it is also written in the Koran that this land belongs to the people of Israel, the Arabs all came from the Arabian Peninsula and conquered. the entire Middle East. The word Palestine is actually a name invented by the Romans when they conquered the Land of Israel, and when they were exiled from the land this name remained until 1948. Before 1948 there was no state of Palestine because the British were here, and part of the country was ruled by the Jordanians, and the Jordanians did not allow any Arab to establish a Palestinian state. Before that, the Turks were here and there was no state of Palestine, and before the Turks there was no state of Palestine. There has never been a prime minister, a president, a parliament, a palace, ministers or a currency that the Palestinians issued, there was no Palestinian bank and no official office of any Arab nation. Everyone knew that this is the land of the Jews and they are in exile all over the world, the Arabs of Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egyptians, Syria, Yemen, everyone knew that the Jews came from the Land of Israel, the Jews prayed 3 times a day to God to return them to the Land, to Jerusalem and the Temple.

There has got to be more of a money connection. I don’t believe it’s all just cultural feelings left over from a prophecy, the only way all the corporate media bands together with a united message is when there is a financial interest.

I'm glad that you pointed out the similarities on how Amerikka treats the indigenous people and blacks the same way Israel treats the Palestinians and the Ethiopian Jews there. Watched a video. They seem to adapt the same attitude that the German's workers party had toward them. It's like they play victim and are great victimizer .

Blacks get affirmative action in everything from government jobs to places at universities, as well as government pressure on the private sector to hire them under lowered standards. Native Americans live in their own reservations which are nearly separate nations to themselves and are economically supported by the US government. Seriously you people are so late, the civil rights movement already happened. but it is similar to the Palestinian situation in that the Palestinians are completely supported Economically by Europe and the hated USA.

Do you know the formation of Palestine? Half a million Jews were killed in a genocide, and then exiled from Judea. This is when the Roman empire created Syria Palestina aka Palestine. Jewish people had no true country up until recently, and the colonizers are not happy about it.
