@john doe Isn't that ironic. ''If you want peace, prepare for war''. Which pretty much locks humanity into a perpetual state of being prepared against an imminent threat. Which I guess makes sense, considering human nature. It just seems unrealistic to hope for no one to have them, therefore no one needing them, for example.

I agree Bush has lost any credibility to speak about anything outside of his ranch. But the invasions you mention could not be more different... from Russian 8 year effort to avoid such conflict ....to the conduct of the military action to avoid human and other damage BECAUSE Russia looked past the conflict years to the time when all would have to live together as neighbors.
My young country with immature leadership goes into other sovereign nations before thinking through how to deescalate. Anyway, Wanheda, you get my meaning: the 2 events are not equal.

the US overthrew a brutal dictator, Putin is brutalizing a country that elected their leader. It is not the same thing. The Iraqi people had the opportunity to design an effective government, instead they were intent on evening scores and brutalizing each other. The condition of Iraq is due this infighting. Thank you for making this video. I was one of the troops sent to Iraq in 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The only thing that came out good about that experience for me was that it opened my eyes to the lies our government has told to justify it's selfish wants and maintaining power. I lost 2 friends out there during that war and for what? You know the part of this video where it shows President George W. Bush misspeak and say Iraq when referring to one man deciding to launch a war was spot on. Then he said "Iraq too" in a joking way. I don't see how that was funny. All the lives lost because he wanted more power. He was playing an international chess game with our lives. This is why my mind is open to videos like yours. I know now from my experience I need to see both sides of a story before believing in anything. Thank you.

I'm sorry you lost family and friends, and as an American I'm apologizing to you for the atrocities by demonic George Bush and other liars in office. It wasn't actually a war - it was an invasion upon a sovereign country based upon the many lies they told.
I think the American government knows very well that they've run out of lies to start wars, which they've done for decades or centuries. It WOULD NOT surprise me if they used the anti-gay laws that Ghana and Uganda leaders have imposed to invade those countries next for 'Crimes Against Humanity' like they blamed Hussein and Quaddafi, yet the only crimes against humanity was by the hands of America's dishonest, heartless leaders.

      @@hosihbhb6496 To recap;
Hans B. had not been given enough access/hindered when trying to inspect sites in Iraq for WMDs, which is where tis started. Then there was the death toll from sanctions, (lack of western medicine and oil sale sanctions).
The USA and other 'willing' countries were convinced that the Iraqi people would be delighted to be saved from the savage Hussain family.
It all went to plan pretty much, however the insurgency began, and so the Sunni/Shia violence started, leaving the USA and others with a far nastier situation.
USA had no option but to stay and try to contain the violence over a period of years.
The plan was to have a quick and overwelming force to remove SH, and to set up and create a fair governing democracy for all, then leave.
Because of the Sunni/Shia violence, (and other actors from other countries wishing to destabalize and grab power for themselves), the USA had to maintain a presence in Iraq.
Some/many in Iraq now enjoy a safe and fair country with a bright future, and wish the USA stays in as a small force. Some in Iraq want all USA forces out.
      What is your point?

The same thing happened from the pledging US nation it done to the British in 1775, not by shoes thrown to them, but bullets out of raged. So what's new if millions of Iraqi citizens enraged and billions of people across the planet aggrieved by the 1991 & 2003 US invasion of Iraq that found NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. The US-led invasion of the West resulted to the destruction of the country and caused the deaths of million Iraqi women, old folks, children, livelihoods and destroyed this nation historically called Babylonia. Geopolitical sentiments of humanity shifted away respect for US political leaders, instiutions and all things American. US had alienated people on earth away from them. US made a martyr out of Iraq and former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein no matter how the West picture him dictator. To the eyes of the world it's otherwise. If another state is strong enough to apply the same procedure to the US, surely its political leaders are super aggrieved, and would go to war. The threat to world peace is not the poor, developing and emerging states, but the US and it's Allies arising from being dominant economically and militarily- who want to control and manage the world when they themselves cannot resolved domestic problems such as recession, huge unemployment, border security, immigration, illegal-drugs, home-grown terrorism and home of the homeless people on earth across 50 states millions of Americans to name few social problems.

Iraq is thought to have the fifth-largest oil reserves in the world, with an estimated 145 billion barrels of known reserves. This amounts to around 17 percent of the Middle East’s overall oil reserves and 8 percent of the world’s total reserves. Iraq also ranks second in OPEC’s Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (after Saudi Arabia) in terms of oil production.

I was an undergraduate at university at the time. And I remember plenty of people around me, many of whom had multiple university degrees, telling me that I was wrong to oppose the invasion, that Iraq would send those missiles and "weapons of mass destruction" everywhere, that no one anywhere in the world would be safe, that we could all die. I mean, these were professionals, most of them, who actually bought all this shit. I didn't know at the time, all those years ago, why it was so hard for people to think critically, to avoid making sweeping generalisations, to cross-reference information, to engage in open, respectful intellectual discourse. I guess reading misinformation or lies and watching really disturbing images on television can do things to the human mind. I know now that media sources are powerful weapons that can, and often will, help governments sell anything. Anything for "peace"! And "peace" sells!

In an objectively just world, they both would be, but unfortunately the current international system is based on Anglo-American power projection, therefore, the ICC's authority is based on their primacy in the international order. That means American and British leaders, and their close allies are more or less exempt from the ICC's authority unless they willingly submit to it's authority. Had there been an acute and extreme backlash to the Iraq war and opposition parties gained power in either country based on promises to make those leader's be held accountable, then there might have been some maneuvers to turn them over to the ICC, but that didn't happen, unfortunately. For me though, Bush was a willing stooge in all this; he was too stupid to come up with this on his own. The true master minds were Cheney and Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld is dead, and Cheney is not too far behind. Powell is dead too, so that leaves Rice, but her culpability is not as big as those top 3, imo.

    IRAQ INVASION WAS ABOUT OIL
Brigadier-General James Ellery CBE, the Foreign Office's Senior Adviser to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad since 2003, had confirmed the critical role of Iraqi oil reserves in alleviating a "world shortage" of conventional oil. The Iraq War has helped to head off what Ellery described as "the tide of Easternisation" - a shift in global political and economic power toward China and India, to whom goes "two thirds of the Middle East's oil." His remarks were made as part of a presentation at the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), University of London, sponsored by the Iraqi Youth Foundation, on 22nd April 2008.
"Iraq holds the key to stability in the region", Ellery continued, due to its "relatively large, consuming population," its being home to "the second largest reserve of oil - under exploited", and finally its geostrategic location "on the routes between Asia, Europe, Arabia and North Africa - hence the Silk Road."
