British gas 970 million in record profits this year. There are 28.2 million households in the uk. British Gas serves 12 million homes. What does this have to do with the war in Ukraine other than an excuse for companies to fleece us.
All of the big energy companies have made loads of profit, this suits the tories because the share dividends will be fantastic. That's what the CONservatives are about.

We've had more than a decade. We've all known about this for half a century.We could have quite easily set up society on the basis of saving resources for a long run, rather than spaffing a couple millennia worth of resources in a few decades. Man, how awkward is it how much fossil fuels we wasted just on happy meal toys?

I think instead of the test, making sure education was based on critical thinking skills and looking in to current events. Maybe a test on basic knowledge of science and current affairs (not celebrity nonsense) should be part of it?

I can’t remember the guy’s the name but some scientist published in a scientific journal that increased CO2 lead to increased warming and that burning coal (The main source of energy at the time.) would lead to global warming and climate change.

What i mean is, pretty much all of us in the developed world and beyond have know excessive human impacts are going to do for us if we don't wind it in. So not just scientists, but those running our cultures, politicians and oil CEOs, and all of us proles playing along. On some level we knew this is what we work towards every day, for quite a long time.

A progressive government with courage would root the banksters out of the Bank of England, ending the utter nonsense of central bank "independence", lower interest rates themselves and "print" however much money they need to do what they want, BEFORE we even need to tax the rich. And we should tax the rich enormously. Or even expropriate their ill begotten wealth.
Taxing those hording the wealth will cause distribution of that money, if the bank of England keep printing money it devalues the pound, making it harder for people and you risk hyperinflation and we already have inflation. Tax the richest people and ensure big business actually pays taxes here, reduce the barriers from brexit to reduce consumers prices paid for food for products, investment in green energy that belongs to the uk not private companies bring rail back into government ownership.
That people at Insulate Britain must be chomping at the bit saying, "We told everyone so!" But, nobody listened.

Interesting Ash brings up the dire need for insulation/retrofit across the UK. Actually industry I work in... Tory inaction has particularly hamstrung us here, even with all the political will in the world it'll be really difficult to get anything done because the industry just isn't ready to scale up. Long term lack of investment means there's not enough people with the skills or the knowledge to get this stuff done even if we did start spending loads of money.
Absolutely. They totally buggered up the green homes grant. Should have been so easy. Start small, get it running smoothly and then expand it. Instead they made a real mess of it and cancelled the whole thing. A massive waste of money and opportunity.

Totally agree on the decade of low interest rates. Absolute madness that governments didn’t borrow and spend when investors were desperate to put their money somewhere. Germany were the biggest fools there. They had the expertise and the motive to become energy independent using cheap debt and cheap energy and now look where they are…
