      Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water isn't state-owned, but it is run by a not-for-profit private company which has no shareholders. Any money they do make is used to improve the service and to keep customer bills low. Personally, I'd like to see water and other utilities renationalised eventually, but the Dŵr Cymru model isn't a bad solution in the meantime.

    What stands out to me is how Fiona Bruce is allowed to clearly exhibit her partisanship increasingly every week. She ensured that drip from the cabinet got to say everything she wanted (none of it worth hearing) whilst Ash was continually interrupted and questioned and asked to justify her statements by Bruce. It's a disgrace that the wife of a major Tory donor be allowed to chair a political discussion. Every week we hear more and more of her voice. This week it was taking 2 audience polls, in other weeks it's giving background information to the issues raised, information that everyone with a smidgen of interest in current affairs would have known anyway. privatization of utilities is literally just the private landlord model applied to services. We could own them, meaning that all money we spend on them increases the value of the asset we own. And if a problem needs fixing we can get it fixed. Or we could have someone else own it, have a large portion of what we spend on them go to making someone else rich and leaving us with no assets. And if we want something fixed we are reliant on the good will of someone for who it's more profitable to let the problem continue unaddressed cause they know we have no alternative than to put up with it

      @@leehenry5764 No. you fell right into the lies of the Tories on the EU which would oblige to privatize the public services. It's totally wrong. France, Germany, Italy and other EU countries own their train companies for example. In France, electricity also (public nuclear), EDF is a state company, the postal services belong to the State in France too, the same for water. More than 70% of water in France is governed by cities or groups of cities. They are public services. There are some private companies, but they have maintenance obligations, otherwise they pay heavy fines. Most decisions concerning the water market or water meter legislation are regulated by states to allow local authorities to harmonize their decisions. Whether it is public or private, the EU has no decision-making power. Competition is possible but not mandatory when it comes to an essential public services

      @Keith Brighouse she came up with a solution then on the video. You can renationalise the water because it's an asset and there will always be people paying into it as we need water to survive. It's a safe business and an asset.

    • @SunilChodha
      @SunilChodha ปีที่แล้ว

      @Keith Brighouse Firstly what makes you think it's immigrants that are causing the problems in this country? Secondly, you need to wake and smell the coffee. This country isn't all that and the whole world isn't desperate to come here, despite what the Daily Mail keeps telling you.
      As for Sarker - she gives a solution right there. The money would be spent on an asset that's profitable and something that should be run for the benefit of people in this country.
      You seem to think immigrants are the problem, but you don't seem to have an issue with investors in Australia taking piss out of British people. Maybe take your head out of your arse and learn how the Tories AND New Labour alike are taking the piss out of us.

      @Keith Brighouse so for starters a lot of the wars they're Fleeing were wars funded by uk. You found the money to fund the wars so you could find the money to fund the refugees also... you don't have to keep them in hotels ...you could pay and employ english people at a decent was eto process them so that they can work and be productive att a low wage which people need. We need plumber builders electricians seamstresses etc and we don't have qualified people and many of the people coming are qualified they need their quallifications stamped for approval for the uk and they need their papers processed then they would very happily get a job and pay rent and bills rather than be a burden. It is the government fault that they're not processed in a timely manner it is the government fault they are a burden and it is the government fault their waulfications are not validated because rthey have not put infrastructure in for this. They were too busy selling weapons and organising conspiracies to speak of weapons of anss destruction and all to happy to invest in failed war endevours which now they suddenly are too poor to fund the consequences of those wars. And I might add that you are reliant on other people from outside the uk for the food you eat the clothes you wear most of your technology you use and a vast amount of things and products which you nó longer produce yourselves. You thankfully have a thriving service and financial sector that makes you have some wealth and plenty enough wealth for all the uk citizens ... but unless you manage that wealth properly it will not trickle down by magic to your poor and unemployed in the uk. You do actually have to have good government to see employment stimulated to see bussinesses supported and to see production raised. THat does happen in a vaccuum and only happens with a government who is competent. You have had it before when you created the nhs and many other amazing things the uk should be proud of. THe national rail the bbc the nhs all amazing achievements and amazing production and behind all that amazing government funding the whole engine and the people who made it function. Now you government funds something else. War and globalisation and banking and media and corruption and financial tomfoolery. All of which could be stopped tomorrow and we would not miss it. There is nothing so dispicaable as a slave who praise his master for beating the darker slave harder my dear.
