      Let's face it as the world's policemen , Britain and the U.S.A. have done an appalling job creating disaster after disaster everywhere they go . You cannot force every country on earth to become a liberal democracy just because western corporations prefer that form of government . A lot of Arab countries choose to try to protect their people from western decadence and corruption . Bombing them back to the stone age never was and never will be the answer . Although arms manufacturers doubtlessly think war is the best policy . And unfortunately corporate money dictates government policy !

    A reactionary doesn't care about Britain's role in creating crisis in other countries. I've heard it from them before "it wasn't me that invaded Iraq" "why doesn't Tony Blair take in refugees". Explaining Britain's role will make cock all difference. Especially when those wars were so unpopular here.

    • @sarangistudent8614
      @sarangistudent8614 ปีที่แล้ว

      The people complaining about immigrants coming here now were the ones that supported the wars 100%, they all though it was a great idea, even the Tories voted it for it. Corbyn didn’t but they don’t like him, they’re a bunch of absolute hypocrites.

    • @alanwhitham4
      @alanwhitham4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      NosyFella We have to answer the much deeper question of what all these wars , invasions and economic sanctions were and are really all about . What they are never about is freedom , democracy and human rights , they are about profit and opening up new territory for western corporations to exploit . War is highly profitable ! The likes of Blair and Bush seriously expect us to believe that bombing Iraq , Afghanistan , Libya and others , destroying the lives of millions , were humanitarian actions . It is time western governments took some responsibility for their actions past and present . If the U.S. and Britain went to war to fight for just causes why not Saudi Arabia , Israel and others ? A tyrant is ok as long as he's our tyrant . A lesson that Saddam Hussein was too slow to learn .

    • @hanunyafa
      @hanunyafa ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its quite commonly the view in the UK that the UK should be isolationist.
      People do commonly accept that the UK foreign policy is either cynical (for oil, etc) or, if well-intended, it is unneccessary interference in other people's problems that cannot succeed. So they will not feel obliged to accept collective responsibility for the consequences of either scenario.
      Isn't this the Trump doctrine, basically? USians as well are tired of their country policing the world.

    • @alanwhitham4
      @alanwhitham4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hanunyafa It's not about sorting out other peoples problems it's about seizing resources or at least making the profits from them accessible to western investors . You nailed it , oil , diamonds , heroin etc . that's what they're after . There's always a humanitarian cover story to justify sanctions or bombing , which is complete b.s. It always follows the same pattern , sanctions , subversion and then oh no it's a failed state we must do something ! Islam forbids usury , there's a major problem straight away , an excuse for war right there . Of course the public wouldn't buy that so then false flags and disinfo. come into play . The west had no problem with Iraq when Saddam was fighting a proxy war against Iran . It's all deception and it's all very simple . Whether a foreign government is a democracy or a dictatorship matters not . Can we do business ? is always the key question . They can do business with the Saudis but not Iran , which is ideological opposed to western greed and decadence . Socialism is another enemy of corporate profits . We can't let them spend their oil profits on social programs and decent living conditions when they should be going into the pockets of western corporations . In my opinion liberal democracies are favoured by western money lenders and corporate businesses because they are the easiest to corrupt and in fact they are generally neither liberal nor democratic in any real sense , they are owned !

      @paulroberts7544 I'm very sad you think so Paul, so please let me explain why I think you are wrong. Would you agree that the "needs and values of working-class people" are: community, dignity, family, affordable housing, good free education, good free healthcare? Please justify your comment by explaining which of those I am attacking as an advocate for healthcare investment, and an improved economy. Judging by your rhetoric, you appear to have sided with the far-right and billionaire aristocracy, yet have the cheek to call me an enemy of working people. The Right have been in power for the last 13 years, and 65 out of the last 100 - yet you still think they are the salvation of working people. I want to tax the elite, in order to support the needs of hard-working families - I'm not sure why you would disagree with doing that. From what I was told, the general opinion was that we were not wanted, we were just immigrants. I now live in France and have found my treatment to be very accepting. I came across antisemitism and racism against us and tried to forgive and forget, but it seems this rhetorical dialogue is on the rise. As you have so rightly reiterated, Britain has been involved in creating some of these problems and therefore Britain does have an ethical obligation to help with the aftermath of the consequences they were involved in. @paulroberts7544 Very well said . In 18th and 19th century Britain children were forced to work in dirty dangerous cotton mills barefoot for 12 hours and more . Mostly they didn't survive to adulthood . People should read Dicken's Hard Times and Tressell's Ragged Trousered Philanthropists . The poor were forced into the army and navy but they had no choice ,the Empire was not of their making and they didn't benefit from it . I agree that when we talk about the British Empire we should make these distinctions . If a poor man stole a loaf of bread to feed his family he could be sent to Botany Bay , hung , or forced to take the King's shilling .Our own people were often treated even worse than slaves . Mill owners didn't have to buy workers , if one died they just got another one . The victims are not to blame . Nothing has changed except that the working class organised themselves and forced concessions from the rich . So the working-class should be proud of their ancestors and never ashamed , because when it comes to the exploitation of our fellow human beings they were not guilty . Now we have this new form of exploitation of humanity and the planet called neoliberal economics which again the poor do not benefit from whatever their nationality . Divide and rule operates unceasingly because if the world's poor ever unite , what a wonderful day that will be .

    I was born in a British Colony. I had no choice as a child when my parents decided to immigrate to U.K. Thus I know no other world than that of being British however during all my school years I was not taught a single aspect of 400 years of global domination of the British Empire. Whilst it brought a lot of ‘British’ good to overseas countries it also raped and pillaged and stole far more resources from these countries. As an example in my ancestral country of India in over 200 years of British rule an estimated £45 trillion in wealth was prised out of India. Now in the 21st century U.K. is rapidly being turned into a 3rd world nation by unelected PMs like Rishi Sunak and decades of neglect brought about by successive governments on both sides of the aisle. I am old enough to recall the huge impact Thatcher had on ordinary families with her fascistic policies and it hasn’t stopped ever since. To blame everything on just one aspect ie immigration is to overlook all the neglect that the U.K. governments have imposed on the people of this country.

      🤔 EVERY Prime Minister of Britain has been elected as a Member of Parliament. NO Prime Minister per se is elected, other than by the members of a political party as their leader. Said leader then becomes Prime Minister when the party has a majority of seats in the House of Commons.

    Immigration needs to be discussed as an issue about the rule of Law in the UK, not a race issue. Certainly, we should firmly refuse economic migrants, but get them out of the water first, and process them quicker. Then get them out. The problem for genuine asylum seekers is that they have travelled illegaly. The UK can overlook illegal travel, but some have gone further in helping the traffickers by disposing of their documents. That's an extra level of criminality that benefits the traffickers aims of rushing bogus applicants through the system. That can't be overlooked.

    It is the lack of perspective from these morons, they can not even for a second put a shoe on the other foot. People do not want to come here to exploit, they want to come here to survive, be free, thrive, rebuild, I work with people like this and they are just mean and not nice to be around. I'm so sick of this mindset, this idea that only the people here are valuable, there are plenty of people in this country that would seek shelter after kicking down the bridge for everyone else.

    I try not to get too political.I’m open to both sides of the debate. I consider myself slightly to left of centre, although I do have some traditional right-wing views, particularly when it come to asylum. But, I fully agree with this video that the only difference with Afghanistan and Ukraine is race oriented. WE, the UK helped to create the problems in Afghanistan. We did nothing to create the issues in Ukraine. So why did so many people make such a big deal about throwing their doors open to Ukrainian refugees but remain so silent about what was going on in Afghanistan if it’s not about race? It’s disgusting.

    The thing is, what is not mentioned is, that the people of this country never wanted wars, we never signed up for war and we have to put up with whatever the government do, for example, tax payers money. We have no say in where they spend our money. If we had a choice, non of us would pay taxes, but we have no choice, it's just taken, that is why people in this country are so angry and opposed to the migration of people to this country. Imo

    By continually stirring the shite, HM Gov. have made this situation far worse than it needed to be. Example: even in the phraseology: Mainland European countries are building "RECEPTION AREAS" for these people. Britain alone continues using any old redundant sites as "DETENTION CENTRES" . This 'bog awful Gov. closed many safe & legal entry points. So it could easily be argued that HM Gov. itself, at least impart, created this situation. They are now so determined to turn honest law abiding people against. Blaming the migrants for their own dreadful governance.
