Thank you so much! next I need to replace brake lines, make shorter ones, relocate brake resevoir due to putting on rear controls. I don't know the procedure on what to measure etc. Also I need to shorten my throttle cable. It's too long from the last handlebars. It fit them but not my new one.

I’ve been thinking about changing my hand grips on my 2003 1200C sportster. You made it look easy. My bike is always inside in a heated garage all winter. Might be able to get out one more time before winter hits. You make a good teacher. Thanks for the video and explaining how to do the job. I also watch your video on neutral switch replacement. Another job I have to do. Can you tell me if there is a braided oil line kit available and where to buy. Thanks

Thanks Rocco I'm replacing my cables and having a hard time not pinching the wires under the master cylinder clamps. My cables were missing the brass bushings and even with the cables adjusted all the way out had a hell of a time getting them both on. Took a second person to compress the spring on the carb end of the return cable

@@TwoWheelRocco I'll get back with you tomorrow. I did the washers on the needle (3) and put a 48 jet and it's running a bit rich at 2 turns out on a/f screw. But the throttle isn't sticking anymore. It has aftermarket handlebars on it, should there be a dimple or something so the harness from the switches doesn't get pinched when bolting on the master cylinder?
@@mikes9117 Yes there should be a dimple in those handlebars to conceal the wires so they don't get pinched. Try 1 3/4 on the air /fuel. Let us know how it works out.

Okay so I changed my grips but I still have too much play in the grip what cable are you tightening at the bars ( the front one or the back one) to take up that play and are you turning the adjustments towards to tighten? the bar or down towards the cable to tighten it. I’m really struggling understanding the service and repair manual. I tightened them both up I couldn’t even turn my throttle and it was clicking. Hopefully I didn’t damage anything went back to having them both lose showing no thread. I’m just so confused. Can you please help me. Lol.
Happy to help, what you want to do is adjust the slack out of the cable if you twist your throttle and it will not move freely go back to that adjustment turn it in or out until it moves freely. and then make the rest of the adjustment on the other cable. I own a 98 Sportster and I just replaced the throttle cables and I have no kind of play at all is that normal adjustment screws completely unadjusted but I still have no kind of Slack question is is that normal
Happy to help. Take a close look at the carburetor throttle linkage I believe the end of the cable is not fully seated into the linkage and that will give you the play, for your adjustment. Some times the aftermarket cables are just a little thicker at the end. You could take a small screwdriver and you'll see the slot where the cable goes and you can open slightly and fit your cable end in fully. Widen the one where the spring is on the cable. hope this helps.

@TwoWheelRocco actually I do have a quick question. I started doing the process of changing the grips last night when watching your video, but didn't finish yet. I just made sure I had the tools I needed, put some oil on, and could loosen everything. But I did notice my right side grip with the throttle doesn't naturally snap back when you rotate it. And then I started playing with the wire length tension a little (this is before I've taken the cover off to get to the little balls) and it didn't seem to matter much as far as it snapping back. I'm going to open that cover today and try to do the whole process. But I'm not sure why the grip isn't snapping back.
Happy to help. Usually when everyone. the throttle doesn't snap back, one of the cables are too tight, loosen them up, get it to where It snaps back easily and then make your adjustment with a little 1/8 inch play between accelerate and decelerate. I read in a manual that a piece of cardboard should be placed between brake lever and housing. Is that just or particular models/
