it looks like a RED Komodo bro nice setup!
I just love me a heavier build out setup! I’m a big handheld guy and needed the FX3 to be rigged!
We’re grateful that you chose to post this video. We’ve been looking for slim cable tie downs for the longest time and have never heard of the Smallrig ones you mentioned in this video. We were able to streamline and slim down our rig. Thanks again for the upload!
I agree with you that your rig setup is the MOST BALANCED out of more than 6 videos of Cineback I've ever seen. Thanks.
Appreciate it!!
Love your style man! To the point, clean, cinematic but also has your personality shining through. Love the rig! Got me excited for my own!
Thank you bro! Trying to get the personality out more haha its hard I swear second I hit record is some proper guy speaking and I'm like nah they need the real me hahah
@@TheAutomotiveDP Hahah I feel you 100%. It seems easy but it’s something you really have to consciously think about. Great that you’re self-aware of it!
That's a pretty dope setup, I'd love to have something like that when I was shooting
Thank you bro! It’s dialed in for my shooting style!
Thanks for sharing boss! Really appreciate the review!
Have had it since November and loving it!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Jay if you love that handle. Get it 3D scanned and 3D print it in alloy.
You know what that is a GREAT Idea would you mind messaging me on IG @im_jasonanthony would love to pick your brain more!
I feel like this might be a patent violation... you definitely can't sell them. I think your best bet would be hitting up smallrig's dream rig program and trying to get them to release a new version. @@TheAutomotiveDP
I'm full time dop (documentary, reality, tv) and use FX6 and FX3 most of the time (canon cinema line on second place). Our team uses FX3 only for gimbal works, b/c cams on interviews, underwater housing or when we need 8-10 cams simulateneously (because fx6's renting price in my area is more than twice as much as fx3). Can't imagine to build such monster for seriouse paid work when different dp should switch cams during day and scenes. We have no time to get used to different ergomonics and all bells and whistles of such setups.
I'm glad it works for you. There is no perfect cam, but for me FX6 looks to be pretty close to that. I'm waiting to test C400.
best wishes!
Totally agree Alex as my company I co-own has 4 FX6’s and 3 FX3’s. We do a lot of big branding videos, doc work and high end commercial which we rent other systems for. At the end of the day it just matters the end users needs and how they operate with it. I was simply showcasing and Cineback and went over usage cases. Not all my productions require or can afford the fx6 packages. This is another alternative paired with say another 3 on a gimbal
Been following you since 2018 my man. Always dig your content.
Bro I was legit showing my girl your videos for Real Estate the other day haha LETS GOOO!!! Love what you've been doing over the years Brad!
@@TheAutomotiveDP that’s wild man!!!
Love the setup and the look!!!
Thank you so much brother!! Means a lot
Great setup dude! Got me wanting that top handle
Means a lot bro! I found one super close to it but going to reach out to SmallRig and see if they’ll bring it back. They do custom orders on their FB group 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
I got one of the SmallRig V-mounts for my FX3 that screws onto the bottom of my cage. 99% of the time I'm running solo and need the audio top handle, but if I didn't need that I would definitely go for something like what you have.
That’s what’s up! The best part is there’s no right and wrong way to rig the camera! Make your rig work for you and your workflow!
Another clean video my brotha. Loving the look of the fx3 in that build. The reverse top handle is a nice tip for the balancing, rig is ⛽️⛽️ 🔥🔥🔥
My man! It just made sense for this build going the old school way!
Awesome video bro! Thanks for sharing. I’ve actually been kicking around the idea of fx30/fx3/fx6 I just can’t really justify the fx6 price for the lack of video work I do 😂 but this build vid hits right on the money for what I’m looking for.
Yooo super stoked you enjoyed the build man if you have any questions you know where to find me
sick vid! The audio/video is just vicious
Appreciate you my G!
Absolutely amazing video!🔥🔥
Appreciate you brother!!! Means a lot
it's like $1400 with the cost of the small rig cage, cineback base, cineback handle extension, the Sony XLR handle and a wooden side grip... you might as well get an FX6
I get that but not everyone has the $6k to drop at one time for an fx6 and then you still need to buy a cage & baseplate 90% of the time you’re rigging out the fx6
Jay is back 🎉👏🏻
FX6 without a doubt
Instead of getting the XLR top handle attachment I’d just find away to put the zoom f3 on and then you keep the same top handle and get 32 bit float audio on your rig
I have a few f3’s and for those who rely on the 32bit float or want to “set it and forget it” type deal it makes sense. Like mentioned in the video we have audio guys on most sets. If I need audio I either properly set levels like everyone’s been doing for the last few decades or take advantage of the 32bit float 🙌🏻🙌🏻
super clean set up man.
Was wondering if you can adjust this set up for vertical video?
Don't sleep on the Rigid Pro. The voltage meter is digital and you can also use the native fx3 XLR handle with it. Also it's still like $200 cheaper than the Cineback even after buying the 8sinn cage and the delivery time is much shorter.
I never heard of the rigid Pro until I saw your comment. But the Ridgid Pro is only $10 cheaper than the cineback. $318 for the rigid Pro on their website so thank you I am placing an order for the Ridgid Pro because they haven't come out with one by cineback for the a7iv and I like that it has the voltage meter
@@LMActionsports To Clarify, the Cineback top handle alone that allows use of the native XLR for the FX3 is an Additional 300 US dollars on top of the $329 USD you have to pay for the cineback base. Plus another 90-110 for either the SmallRig or Tilta Cage. So that puts you roughly at 710-730 USD without any sort of vMount or cabling.
You know what they reached out to me and I am interested in it. It is a little bulky looking but the voltage meter for sure is a nice plus
@@scottjohnson3017 oh wow that just brings to price up seriously. I already have a smallrig cage plus a smallrig top handle with the record button built into it plus a v mount battery . So I am set for the rigid pro
@@LMActionsports As an FYI,
The RigidPro requires the $135 FX3 cage by 8Sinn, but its still cheaper than the Cineback
no ninja v? so no 12 bit Pro res raw? crazy. Ive heard Komodo was "slighty" better, but thats very incorrect. In terms of pure color info, my komodo smokes it in a studio set up. but the the pro res raw gets it much closer in the grade. They have a audio top handle attachment, aand i wish they sold it all together. Either way, this looks really fun build. im gonna build mine out now. I ,ove my fx3!
@@seanfrancis7101 I’ve owned 3 ninjas and see no difference in footage. Shooting Netflix shows and network commercials on an fx6 for 6 figure budgets and not one client said anything about it not being 12bit. Been doing this a while, peep my IMDb times are changing don’t buy into the hype but what do I know 😅🤷🏻♂️ have Kevin hart in my DP reel, shot commercial work for Toyota USA, Lamborghini global, Microsoft Xbox and more. I also had a RED Gemini and 2 Komodo’s a the same time so here’s where I’m at. If client wants a mini LF or Venice we rent em. This is how the industry works out here in LA
Dude great video 💪🏼
Means a lot David! Appreciate you watching the build
I've seen dudes rock a FX6 on a gimbal. Do you think a streamlined setup of the fx3 without the handle and monitor could work on a gimbal as well?
Hey mate I have the original smallrig cage too. I angle grinded off the piece you mentioned but the bottom screw doesn’t line up at all. Can you help with some insight there?
There was a company that makes you a custom cable. like you can choose the angle, colour etc. I forgot where I saw them and what was their name but as soon as I remember I will post it. In the meantime maybe someone knows what I am talking about.
You know what you’re a legend you just reminded me Alvin’s cables on Amazon. Haven’t had to order anything since my Komodo’s thank you!!!
@@TheAutomotiveDP For Nothing dude I actually didnt think of them as well hahaha. The rig looks really good, just waiting for them to make it for Fujifilm and definitely will get one :)
Rumor has it Fuji film is dropping a cinema camera this year 🤫🤫
@@TheAutomotiveDP Fake rumours, CineD Asked them plainly in an interview and they said so far they dont have anything in development but have been considering it.
Interesting this came directly from a rep 😅
Can't wait to build one of these out when I finally switch to Sony lol
Hell yeah bro! means a lot
🔥🔥
Appreciate you!
hey buddy I don't see the comeback link Can you send it ? Great video man
My bad bro I was away out of the country filming! camerafoundry.com
No problem J . I appreciate your response 🙏🙏
Could you tell me what the purpose of the nato rails in your rig build are for?
One is for my top handle the other is for my monitor mount, if you watch a little more you’ll see them installed on the rig 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@TheAutomotiveDP Those 2 rods at the bottom is what I was referring to, I thought those were called nato rails my apologies.
Could you build a similar setup for a7iv? Can I use the same parts for building a7iv?
Does anyone know if the a7 Series would work with the a7iii? I know the monitor will not be usable, but that is okay - I have an external monitor with camera controls. Wondering if it still fits and is compatible. I have not sold the a7iii yet so, I have not upgraded to the a7iv yet.
Is The Cineback compatible with The Sony Zv E10?
Have you ever had any concerns with dummy Battery? Ive been using a small rig v mount battery to power the fx3 via usb C and it seems fragile
To be honest yes and was told back a year or so ago dummy batteries would fry the board hence the type C your using was the safe way. Apparently now kondor blue claims they have a resistor to safely output the power from the Vmount to the camera. I’ve been using the dummy since November with zero issues so far!
Yo legend, how’d you get the battery gate to close with the dummy battery in?
You dont, there is a level to remove the battery door/gate DM me on IG and can always send a video how to pop it on and off @im_jasonanthony
@@TheAutomotiveDP thanks mate! it’ll be from @hhhenry.guy 🫡
Love the setup. The rails are useless. Get rid of those and that thing is a slim beast!
They’re not useless when I need them so they stay on, this demo showed an E mount. Run motors when using my PL’s. Not worried about a few ounces when they’re not in use 🤷🏻♂️
It looks like it's not balanced, because it's falling lens side
Balanced while holding it Ben! Not when it’s like resting on the ground haha my bad for not clarifying but you see when I hold it up it’s perfectly balanced. I only really care if the setup is balanced when operating the handheld rig. I don’t mind if it leans forward if I put it down and with my cine glass that’s heavier it rests flat. It was just the lens I was using for the demo!
Put a zoom f3 WITH SYNC a atomos ninja with 4to A GOOD FOLLOW FOCUA
Nah I don’t need all that, I get audio guys on my sets because we have budget. What do I need a follow focus for with an auto focus lens? If I’m using anamorphic or cine glass I pay for a first AC on set. I’m an industry DP bro we get budgets for proper department roles. The ninja is trash too btw I’ve had 3 of them. No one needs to record internally you’ll never see the difference in quality because I know your work isn’t going on network tv, so why have a horrible monitor with weak features then?
Euhauhauhahaha nice mic spot 🤣👍
Man iI just wanted to make the video and these days it seems like anything goes. Done is better than perfect its youtube so said who cares everyone does whatever these days, now if it was one of my $50k plus budgets that be a different story haha
@@TheAutomotiveDP thats right youtube in important is information like ur videos 🤙
Thanks bro means a lot haha! It’s hard being a busy DP and having a ton of time to make the TH-cam videos over the “top” deff will work on producing better content on here. Been a little while since I made one but will have consistent content coming!
Esto es mas Ergonómico ???? En serio...
Do you own both setups to test? If not you can’t really give input brother
If i had a fx6 i would never touch a fx3 expect for private insta stuff. Fx3 is a toy to me
Doesn’t sound like you know a thing about what you’re talking about my guy. A toy for you okay Deakins what are we shooting? I have 3 fx6 and 3 fx3’s on our company and we shoot 100k+ commercials for Toyota USA, Lamborghini global and more. on these things when we’re not renting Mini LF’s and Venice. Please tell me what it is you’re shooting 😭wanna hate more peep my gram for the vet.
@@TheAutomotiveDP small cameras are a toy to me. There is a reason a fx6 exists. Its not all about the sensor.
Bro you clearly have Napoleon syndrome the sensor is the same 😅 some BDE energy right here my guy but has to be the opposite
@@TheAutomotiveDP customers have no clue about cameras but they know if a camera looks like the little sony thy bought for their wife to make pictures of their children🤣 i tested the fx3 its too small, front heavy and has not enough buttons for me, no internal nds... Its a influencer camera nothing more nothing less.
@@andersistbesser I just don’t understand why you’re so angry 😅 best thing about this is there’s a camera for everyone we have REDs, black magic cinema cameras not just Sonys with our production company. There’s a time a place but your lack of experience shows man. I appreciate the engagement tho
Just buy a fx6
I have 2 clearly you didn’t watch the video 😭 what a noob
Legit feel like you didn’t even hear the first 30 seconds stating I have FX6’s. If you’re going to make comments listen up first my guy 😭
Seriously, just buy an fx6 over doing this
Just listen, then think.
