What do you think about FX30 or FX3? I do attic spaces where the light is not good. I use the A7RV at the moment but because we do photos as well it's a pain to switch between video rig on A7RV to the photos. So I am looking for dedicated video camera. The autofocus on the A7RV is excellent and I'm worried the FX3 is a bit dated now.

I saw someone talk how the raw portion of the FX30 isnt good, hope you are able to test this in future when it can get fixed or so. I've been looking to get a 10-20mm pz or 18-105mm pz for indoor shooting YT. Not sure if OSS is worth it on 105mm or having half weight from the 20mm. On another channel, I use a tripod but would like to hold and shoot for faster shots. Really don't know what to choose between the two. These don't have the best low light compared to tamron or sigma, but I'm really interested in the PZ functionality since it can help getting zoom/pan shots faster.

I love rigging like any other cinema obsessed man out there 😅, but coming from a bmpcc I think that it defeats a bit the purpose of the form factor. Having something small with great IS means that I can just dump the camera in my bag and use it when I need. For bigger shootings I would probably use something else (bm or rent and fx6 or fx9 if consistency is an issue).

Thanks for the rig. How do you power your FX30 externally? I have a v-mount battery plate that comes with a D-Tap and a USB-A jack for power. I tried using a USB-A to USB-C to power my FX30, but, the FX30 did not see the battery when I plugged it into the camera. Any suggestions? I checked Sony firmware for FX30B, and it doesn't show anything at the moment. I have v1.0 firmware.
I found the same on my regular usb cable as well ! I did some digging and was recommended a usb c to usbc cable that has to be capable of a higher wattage I linked in the description I’ll be trying it out and will update the results !

I noticed that under the USB settings it has a Mass Storage setting. Is it safe to power the camera and monitor using the same V-mount battery? I’ve been told not to power my camera and monitor using the same V-mount battery because it’ll fry the HDMI port and possibly the camera. Is this true? (I shoot on the fx30) I'm using a small rig vb50 battery. I have an 8v dc connection to my monitor and a 9v USB-C power delivery to my camera.
@@KofiYeboah that's true I should of been more specific , I have a 16-55 zoom lens , and hover mostly around 16-35 range on my fx30 , I've been told its great to kind of have a 24 and a 50 if can only have two primes and a 16 and a 35 are great for apsc , so I figured either getting a 25 or a 35 would be perfect in these lenses but I can only afford one at a time ! anyway , always love your vids , appreciate what you do my friend !
Hey Kofi I have a bit of a problem. I just got this battery for my fx30. I ran a USB A to USB C cable from the fxlion nano two. When I used it for the first time I had to keep replacing the internal battery because it wasn’t keeping up. Any ideas? Do I need to use the USB C port on on the nano two?

I live beside a small camera shop in Toronto (DVshop) amazing guys ? Got the camera before every other store in town. I’d suggest going to an independent camera store to order hot items , I’ve had better luck there

Hey Bro I just bought three days ago the fx30 and Ninja V+ and working my bud and can’t set it up to record on my ninja I’ve tried the shotgun 7 same crap nothing works Atomos keeps sending short emails saying turn off HDMI and it’s turned off on my ninja but there is no audio too can’t make it work ! Honestly, no idea, I'm not actually worried much about it , unless I had the means to get into netflix, where at that point, you probably have the means to get something better than the fx30 lol
Camera and monitor connected to same battery it’s not the best idea, because of hdmi cable connection power transmission. I heard that it can fry your equipment because of this loop
@@KofiYeboah RED is more modular so you wouldn't need to stack attachments like that lol i think the fx30 is a dope camera as a base but i think if you add all your costs up you might have enough for a RED. lol

FX30 went beast mode! Clean rig, I have the Smallrig cage and I hate the rail slot on top. Might move into the Tilta at some point.
The tilts costs a bit more , but honestly it’s systems grown on me a bit !!

Is there a difference in battery life or power if using USB-C to the Dtap or getting a Sony Dummy Battery to Dtap? Or possibly prevents overheating?
I think most people do it to avoid overheating , I just do it cause I’ll lose my battery door easily haha
Never use a dummy battery to Dtap for the FX30. You’re connecting 14.4v to a 7.2v connection. You will fry the camera’s motherboard.
