MTL at 14 is a bit crazy... Reinbacher being a "middle pair guy" is a hell of a hot take. Don't see how a sort of Pietrangelo is a mid pair guy. Then not even talking about Mailloux is crazy. Low on the some of the forwards as well.

Maybe a shitty Pietrangelo, his production this year has been pretty awful. Don’t really know about his defensive metric, but the offensive upside of a Pietrangelo type player certainly isn’t showing…

The Fact the Blue Jackets are #2 without Kent Johnson, Fantilli, Marchenko, Voronkov and Sillinger is even crazier!!! Love what the Ducks are doing!!!Hopefully in 2 to 3 years we start seeing Ducks and Jackets for the Stanley!!!
The red wings definitely have a lot of very good prospects, #1 was a fun surprise but I think Augustine and ASP helped get them to #1 from an already solid pool.
I'm a Blackhawks fan and based on how good both their prospect pools are, I'm really hoping we get to see a Chicago vs Detroit SCF in the future

I live in Wings country (Toledo) but as a 30+yr Hawks fan that remembers the halcyon days of the "real" rivalry between them. I'd love to see that.
Blackhawks prospect pool still isnt even close to good enough to make a terrible team like Chicago really good. You guys need multiple more top picks.
The Blackhawks are much further behind Detroit. These rebuilds realistically take 7-10 years before you have the team you're icing for a real run
@@frequentsee3815 thats looking purely at the prospect pool and doesn’t take into account future trades and FA signings. Chicago has a true #1 in Bedard, and most teams including the Wings don't have that guy. The Blackhawks also seem to have pretty good lottery luck which the Wings have never had even when they were pretty much the worst team in the league a few years back. Imagine if Detroit had its current roster assembly including a true #1 like Bedard. Not many (if any) guys on that roster were drafted by that team with the exception of Seider, Raymond, and Larkin. None of Yzerman's other picks have cracked the main roster except for call-ups. He's built mostly through trades and FA signings. The kids will come up someday but even then the odds are against the majority of your prospects being everyday NHLers. Chi has Bedard and a player like that gives them a head start most teams would kill to have. They could be competitive in 3 years with savvy trades and FA signings.
Shakir Mukhamadullin is another sharks prospect worthy of highlighting, he was the center piece in the timo deal

30:08 "Filip Bystedt who has been a beast the last couple of years, especially at the World Juniors." Bystedt was a beast in the 22-23 season, especially in the 2023 World Juniors. This year he hasn't been as good and he had a very disappointing World Juniors. He had some good moments, particularly early on, but pretty much disappeared once the medal rounds started.
I'm not saying he's a bad prospect, just that he's fallen down most rankings I've seen with his performance this season after jumping way up through his play in his D+1 year.
As a Sharks fan I must agree. But still not panicking as he's still young and we know he's long term project. Next season I expect full AHL season and wel'll see how he will adapt to the NA style of hockey. There's definitely a potential.
sooo... prior to adding a top 5 pick, habs were ranked top 5 prospect pool in many publications. On your review, they're 14th? this is a crazy take.

Boston should be in the teens with how much depth they have, but they are mainly in college right now. Give them about 4 years and you’ll see what their cooking. Most of their great picks have been mid to late round picks and they’ve been going crazy this year.
As a wings fan, I’m shocked. Glad you see some things that I don’t. I like our pool but outside of ASP and Buchelnikov(long shot to make it) we really lack dynamic game breaking offensive talent
As an oilers fan i think redwings have better odds at being a dynasty than the oilers. Its not all about star power and the redwings have EVERYTHING they need to win a cup. Just wait a few years and you'll see.

Seattle has a top 3 underrated prospect pool. They remind me of how good the canes draft, always geting too much value in the first 3 rounds. (the canes even without having 1st rounds get good value. Last year Nadeau at 30th is looking like a steal with amazing upside too).
Ron and the drafting staff (Robert Kron etc...) are doing an impresive good job for now, hope they keep this key of going for BPA/upside in high rounds. Too much depth in only 3 drafts.
Montreal is a top 5 teams in the future probably the most underrated prospect pool in the NHL
Montreal at 14? Kapanen breaking records for a player his age in Shl, other players shattering records in their respective league hutson, volokhin, Fowler, engstrom , Logan Mailloux allstar first year as a pro and one of best ahl defenseman , Roy, Beck , Mesar , reinbacher , Dobes . Not sure there’s 13 teams with better prospects than the habs

Clay Stevenson is legit the best goalie in the AHL rn rocking like a .940 but sure don’t include him for the caps. But nobody can look too much into these rankings given you had Kakko over Hughes LMAO
Nice to see STL crack the top 10. They had a hell of a draft with Dvorsky and Lindstein, and both guys had an amazing performance at the world juniors.
My only concern is they seem to be kind of forward heavy when they really need more defensive prospects. Makes me wonder if they try to trade one of their forward prospects for a defensive prospect.
I agree about the D side. A little weak at the moment. I think we need to get into the top 5 or 6 range. Maybe trade Kryou to Columbus for their 1st
also Buch is in a position to were his age doesn't line up well with the younger core and needs a contract soon so there is a opportunity to get some picks or some defense prospects as well.
@zacharyhines3343 you don't move kyrou, you move Buch given age and contract, kyrou dropped 37 goals last year and has been a lot better recently.

If the Pens decide to rebuild early or sign a bunch of good players in free agency and trade them after next season, their prospect pool could explode with talent. Especially with Dubas and Spezza handling the drafting

Unfortunately for the Pens, you have Kyle Dubias as the GM. He’s going to turn the Pens into what the Leafs are now, offense heavy with little defense.

i love you Grav :P but i think you underestimate Lane Hutson, just this guy is a stod at D and probably oone of the best Offensive D outside the NHL just that make habs a top 10 with Jacob Fowler and Logan Mailloux ..Habs have one of the strongest D prospect of all NHL team
How is MTL #14 ?
They got Reinbacher who's been playing in a pro league in the worse team of the division against old NHL and AHL players in a rough and physical league,
then you got Lane Hutson who could be a the future top 2 pair for the habs and has superstar upside,
Logan Mailloux who's been carrying Laval with Xhekaj (both have great physical presence and both have been more consistent with their shooting)
Mesar who's been MVP countless of games for Slovakia and Rangers,
Owen Beck that could be a smart and solid 2 way center
Cedric Guindon who's been point per game for two seasons in the OHL and could be a big surprise
Joshua Roy which has really great upsides and some silky hands
And then you got Sean Farrell, William Trudeau, Engstrom, Luke Tuch... like cmon #14?
Bradley and Josh Nadeau will be a future Sedin twins combo

I think the reason why MTLs is so low is because of their quantity or quallity. They have imo one star prospect in Hutson 3 above average prospects in Mesar Reinbacher and Fowler and then just good deph in every catagory. Thats probably top 10 but I understand
Somehow Olivier Rodrigue who's arguably been the Oilers best prospect only gets a passing mention, Akey who was good before he got injured gets basically no praise, and Raphael Lavoie who's now a AHL-NHL tweener doesn't even get mentioned. Goes to show that Grav basically knows nothing about the Oilers prospects given who he though was their "standouts".
For Colorado is good prospect Maroš Jedlička too
Montreal just needs to draft a offensive forward that could be a top scorer on the team that would definitely make the pool go up in the rankings

With Lekkerimaki (WJT 2024 MVP), as well as Pettersen and Willander anchoring the best defense at the 2024 WJT, not to mention Hunter Brzustewicz who just happens to be leading the OHL in points (and he is a defenseman), the Canucks have four top prospects no other team can even come close to.

That's not really a excuse when other teams year after year find players later in the draft and the Oilers basically just a pick a name from a hat. The Oilers scouting is horribly bad and I don't even know how the hell the scouting department even have jobs when I myself can do a better job than them from my computer.

Clay Stevenson not being mentioned as a Caps goalie is an absolute crime, by far the best goalie in the AHL this year leading all goalies by a big margin in basically every category as a 24 years old which is still quite young for a goalie

RedWings, Canes, Dallas are good drafting teams even them being good teams thats they key. I hope seattle keeps drafting like they are doing and be similar too them.
Honestly, the only reason Wings got first here is because there's a few prospects (like Edvinsson) that are already ready to play in the show but can't quite get in the lineup.
Any other sens fans confused why Grav only mentioned the prospects he did? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the sens should be even middle of the pack, but choosing to mention guys like Hoyt Stanley, Oskar pettersson, and Kevin Riedler over guys like Maxence Guenette, Tyler Kleven, Roby Jarventie, and Mads Søgaard just seems weird…It’s like he just picked random names off of the sens prospect list.

Honestly, Grav if you can't fairly and honestly speak about each franchise then you will never gain respect as a respectable scout, you will always be the typical TH-cam Scout for Americans who don't have access to watch these kids play… I thought you've grown from laughing at prospects like Guhle who you believed was trash when he was drafted, but anybody who watches the WHL could tell he had lots of skill he just played on a bad PA team. But here we are again the fact that you excluded Mailloux from the Habs segment is actually pure garbage we all know you don't like the kid We get it you don't like anybody the Habs draft. but to not even mention the guy's name since he was drafted is pure pettiness plus the fact he is lighting up the AHL as a Rookie Dmen and is almost on pace for 50pts is enough to get some recognition even if you dislike the guy… personally, if you ever want to be respected in this industry then you need to grow tf up and start analyzing the players by talent and not by personal vindictives. You don’t have too much hockey knowledge to be honest this was hard to watch. It’s like a 12 year old talking hockey.
Detroit is extremely overrated here. They possibly have a couple 3rd pairing defensemen, possibly a couple 3rd or 4th line forwards, and possibly a backup goaltender. ZERO future all-stars in the Detroit system. The Wings have a middle of the pack farm system at best.
Well I can tell you have not watch any of their prospects play.
