    What i feel both done a great job but Rode has a better sounds reduction capability in shaking sound. If someone is searching for a mic for carvlogging or outdoor walking & running vlogging the rode is good

    Buy Boya mm1. Record in outdoor. At editing add a low pass filter at 100hz. Add a equaliser and boost in beween 5-7khz for 1-3db as per your taste. Voila ..you get a fantastic audio track better than the pricey Rode video micro. Rode is unnecessarily looting more bucks from the customers. In my country price of Boya mm1 is less than half of a Rode micro

      @@CrazyAboutLife thank you for the reply.... Sorry, but, I didn't get what models you are trying to recommend here.... Boom by rode is what model by rode? And is boya 2021 model same as boya by bm m1?

    • @CrazyAboutLife
      @CrazyAboutLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem, let me give you a few suggestions.
      Rode Video MIC NTG
      Rode NTG5
      Rode NTG4
      Most of the Rode NTG's will be a good choice as they are all Boom Shotgun Mics with directional pickup patterns.
      As for Boya:
      BOYA BY-BM2021 is the model by them
      BOYA BY-PVM 1000 is a solid choice.
      In the end it depends on your budget and the equipment you use for the recording. If you have a good pre-map you can get away with a cheaper option microphone.
      Hope this helps.

    Hey guys,
    thanks for the comparison. I'm curious. I want to record sound of my moutainbike, specifically tire sound. Do you think the Boya would pick up the sound and reduce the wind noise enough?

    • @CrazyAboutLife
      @CrazyAboutLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, interesting question. Will you be riding the bike, I’m asking cause if you are going to mount the mic to the frame, you might have serious shock mount noise. How about using a lapel microphone which you can secure well to the frame and record to a field recorder like a zoom?

    • @TheJewelin
      @TheJewelin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrazyAboutLife Yes, I'll be riding the bike. Basically I'm deciding between a lapel and shotgun mic. I don't have any experience with external mics and read lapel mics can pick up more wind than shotgun mics. Maybe I'll buy boya by-m1 v1 as it's quite cheap and see how it goes from there

    • @CrazyAboutLife
      @CrazyAboutLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheJewelin Lapel mics are more susceptible to wind noise and noises from the side as shotguns mics do a better job at rejecting sounds from the side. The best option would be to go with a field recorder like the H1 or something similar, but these are more expensive. If you can find a way to construct a more shock-absorbing platform then you will be getting some decent sounds.

      @CrazyAboutLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yo, this test was epic. Awkwardness intensified 😂. All jokes aside, tho. I can’t be the only one wondering if there’s a way to DIY some kind of mod using foam and vibration isolation (pads, springs, idk ) as a way to both reduce the vibration and wind interference. I’m obviously not a sound genius, and failed physics , but it’s tempting to think we could get a better noise to signal ratio by eliminating some of the acoustic interference, which I assume is a result of a cheap and sensitive mic. Lastly, have you tried running the footage through Izotope? I’m tempted by the new Videomic Go 2, but my inner cheap bastard/pseudo engineer wheels are turning . Awesome video!

  • @TexpatOTG

    Boya stuff is plentiful and inexpensive in Saigon. The background noise in the city makes buying an expensive mic an exercise in futility. I have several expensive lav mics, but I use a Boya by-m1. I also have the mm1, their interview mic (2) and a long shotgun. Any mic struggles when recording in Saigon.

    • @CrazyAboutLife
      @CrazyAboutLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @TexpatOTG
      @TexpatOTG 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrazyAboutLife I like it. 1st is has battery so it runs on all my recorders. The sound quality is good and a good working distance is up to a meter or so. Easy to get out of frame. For an environment like Saigon, and the content mostly made for TH-cam, I think it is a good buy. I didn't have a chance to compare it with the shorter model, but it wasn't in stock here when I got mine.

    • @CrazyAboutLife
      @CrazyAboutLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว
