@@muhammadsaad6382 Yes, it really works. If you don't trust it, try to cut it out so you can attach it later. But this is the trick. You don't have a lot to lose because the sound you have now is not what you could use anyway. Let me know how it goes

I'm using a R0de video mic for Zoom conferencing. The quality in your video sounded really good on my laptop, which is similar to what most of my customers used. I didn't notice the difference to the Boya in a room so I could of got the Boya and saved a little bit of money. What was missing in the test is what happens if you are recording voice from a distance and/or off to the size
I have the Rode Videomicro ME for phone, so far it's been good, but seeing your video i also tempt to have a Boya for back-up, but since it's not good with the wind so I'm happy with mine. I'm thankful seeing your video, short and precise, just what everyone needs to see
The Boya might work bad in wind due to the chock mount, it is simpler. With a different mount the difference is not notisable. I made my own and also got rid of the handeling noise.
@@saikobanters4323 There are several ways, you can use rubber bands or wrap wind fur around it so its sits steady in a cage. I made mine from a bird feeder, put the wind fur that they sell together with that mic inside, and then an external wind fur made from fake fur. It works better in wind than the Rode video mic pro with the wind fur. I plan to make a video about wind noise later this fall, I might include that DIY wind protection in it.
@@PaulBlast2 No I didn't. The content I put out is about sailing and building boats. I mostly use water proof gears and thus doesn't use mics like this so much. Still wind fur is always on my gear and I'm pleased with the result.
I've been using rode for a while doing weddings and now I'm venturing more into content creation and looking for a value for money solution with these mics. I find that Boya is pretty good even better than the rode I think it just fall short when the electric fan was blown directly to it. Which is for me is a unlikely situation. Great review Jeremy!!!
The rode sounds clearer and sharper and has better windscreen protection, whereas the boya's sound is a bit dampened and feels less clear. Not by a whole lot though. I got the boya and have been filming on one of my channels with it, and am pretty happy with how it sounds. For me the price difference was not enough of a reason to get the rode over the boya. That 10-20% extra was just not worth the 80% extra money spent.
I've had a few Rodes and thought they all sounded tinny. I'm really impressed with the low end of the Boya. You can always adjust the EQ later if you want a super crisp sound but the natural bass of the Boya is fantastic.
I have been using my 2 boya mics (m1 and mm1) for majority of my talking head content and what i dislike about both is the fact that the "one directional" is sort of a scam. Why? Because my bedroom studio is untreated so any noise at home, even from our porch, can be picked up. I am wondering how rode would handle ambient noise.
I'm having a tough decision because I just got the new Sony ZV-1 and the mic on that camera is pretty darn good but could be better so if you've used that camera before or anyone on here, do you know if the Rode Micro would make a substantial difference?
I wonder if the sound dropouts in the wind and while shaking are caused by autogain over-reacting to the plosive puffs and vibrational clicks. They're both sudden audible spikes. I don't understand why else the audio would drop out like that. On other cheap mics, it clips, right?
Just one question... I've had the Boya for a few years now, I was just looking for a video comparing with the rode just to decide whether to upgrade or not, but in my trips I've never had these issues... are you sure your camera isn't cutting or peaking the audio signal from de boya?
OMG... never mind. I've just tried it with my Sony A77 mkII and the bass clips at every single noise... never had this issue with my Nikon D7200 and my Canon T6i
I've been researching and wondering why my voice doesnt sound good on boya, due to your video, now i know and have made a decision to purchase rode, my voice is kind of bassy and with boya, my voice sounds like an exhaust pipe, of course it can be fix with post but that's too much work compared to the time i can save with rode.
thanks a ton! you answered my doubts so precisely. especially about the crackling sound when the camera itself is vibrating! is that a function of the furry windshield? one addition to your insights: if you are performing with live audio (with singers as well as instrumentalists, in a multicamera setup) this can be floor mounted, or even on a boom. the bass in the Boya does make a huge difference to liveperformances, when the cameras are on tracks. this is invaluable for independent filmmakers more than Vloggers!
To me, the Boya sounds overly basey and lacking in detail at the high end. It’s higher base response actually made it much worse in the echoey bathroom.
What was the distance from your camera to your face when you record the review? I bought Boya MM1 and record with my PC. It doesn't pick up any sound if the mic is about 30cm away from the sound source.
My Boya mic is good when the camera is stationary, but it's not really good when vlogging and thus walking. Movement makes the mic create weird noises, maybe the mic's internal parts are moving also...
This is the best video of it for me. Thank you. i'm planning to take mostly the outdoor video and this comparision made my decision. I'll go with Rode. One question here: Will Rode Videomicro work with usb c port only phones? oneplus 8 pro? with an adapter?

I think that the sound with the Boya microphone gets interrupted is because it exceeds the decibel level. Perhaps it is too sensitive. If you would reduce the sound level, tgen you wouldn't have that problem
Hi Jeremy, what Im interested in is the following: the boya mic is stuttering in wind and shaking. is this related to the wind shield or related to the fact that the mic holder has no smooth silicon layer which holds the mic? have you tried the boya mic in the holder or with the wind shield of the rode?
Sounds like they are using the same capsule but the Boya is simply hotter in signal. I wouldn’t be surprised if RODE provides the capsules for Boya because RODE capsules are made in house and therefor are cheaper to distribute and fabricate. I seriously doubt Boya has its own factory to make microphone capsules.
Hi, thanks to your video I decided to buy the Rode microphone.
