I had a 2006, 999. Fantastic handling bike. So easy to ride, and ride fast. I had to sell it. The amount of heat generated from that engine made riding it more than 45 minutes impossible. When they became nearly worthless, after the Panegale series came out, some were installing 2 valve, air cooled, Super Sport engines in them in the 1000/1100 capacity. If I see one of those contraptions for sale, I’m buying it! I got lucky. I was able to trade mine in for what I paid for it on a 2006 Bimota DB5-“S”. Not the “R”, but a much better bike all the same. My current ride is 2004 Super Sport 800, track refugee with a GDM fork. Such a nice bike! This era of Ducati is it for me. Fantastic handling, with realistic power that doesn’t require electronics in order to ride it. Basically, a man’s motorcycle.
I have the identical 749S monoposto ( with the red frame ). I kind of agree with "banana" I tend to wait till the engine coolant temp. has stopped flashing before going for big revs. That said nice example.
I have a 06 999 fila rep I am 6'4 love it.. yeh it gets hot but in the uk we wear a suit so it's OK. But jeans are impossible because of the heat.. I love the dry clutch. The maintenance can be costly ..desmo service every 12k miles and belts every 2 years or 5k .. but sound and ownership makes it well worth it..
Leave the throttle alone when starting it.
And don’t rev it when it’s cold 😅
Nice revving on a cold engine 😅

Advice : Do not throttle old generation Ducati when cold - i.e coolant below 40 degrees Celsius. Then smoothly, up to 80 degrees . ✌️ride safe

if the battery and starter cable were upgraded you shouldn’t have to grab throttle on startup. One push of the button and it fires 👍🏼
What do you mean by upgrading the starter cable?
@@RuBa1Z The original cable was too thin, a thicker calble interfered less with the current required for starting that grumpy L 90° desmo :)
@@mafkeezzz I understand, and starter cable is a special one or just the terminal cables?
I love your bike and it's always been a dream of mine!
Isn't it too hot under the saddle?
How tall are you?
Thanks
