honey, we have a war going on here at the European border. Cost of living in Europe went up, the standard of living went down, prices went up. Europe used to rely on cheap Russian gas, now that that is gone, Europe is importing expensive gas and oil from the US. Luxury boutiques in Europe are empty.
I see a lot of Asian tourist in Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermès. Very few European locals. It's getting too expensive for EU customers. Hey they may just close their boutiques in EU at this point and called it a day.
It's inevitable that prices of everything will go up regardless, except salary. For people that can afford luxury, they will keep buying. For those who can't afford it anymore but currently have some collection of luxury items already, just enjoy what you have in the meantime, or declutter & sell if necessary. I feel luxury brands nowadays are more like the fast fashion industry. They constantly churn out new bags & collection every few mths. It's too much!!!
Chanel should just round up prices of their bags to $20,000 and be done with it and leave us all alone with their price increase for a few years . For a price of a Chanel bag and jacket you can buy a small car. They have gone mad.
Oof, that Oran sandal increase is yikes but not surprising as it's probably viewed as the entry level piece for Hermes. I never got the appeal. It looks like an old lady sandal so I find it odd that people in their 20's and 30's like wearing it.
My opinion why the oran sandal went up is because they are very recognizable and “relatively affordable” way to get into the brand so Hermes is capitalizing on it
I love watching your videos because it makes me feel like I'm on track by not emptying my luxury savings, I feel like I'm at a point where I just appreciate luxury items from a far and I really pick and choose the items I'm buying and that is also thanks to your videos, it keeps me grounded from all the temptations when I go to the boutiques. I learned that if I think about purchasing an item, I go to just look at it and see if it'll fit me and my lifestyle and 90% of the time it's not so I'm really happy that I've learned that it's ok to walk in, ask to see something and not buy it right away and simply think if it's worth my hard earned money so thank you Dacob❤❤❤
I was just in South Korea 2 months ago. I had never seen so many Hermes, Chanel, and Dior bags in my life. You see a bunch of people carrying them on every street. However, everything else you actually need to stay alive (food, transportation, entertainment) in South Korea is very affordable.
whenever i go to Korea for work i pack my most expensive stuff. it’s dress to impress there. if i show up at a meeting with a designer outfit, a big Hermes and a small Chanel bag i get taken seriously. also i always need to lose 10 pounds before i go because i hate being called fat to my face😂 it is what it is. but you won’t get robbed on the street so i actually like wearing my things there and get to enjoy them.
I will be SHOPPING MY CLOSET…. I have been priced out or luxury and at this point its so obnoxious I don’t care anymore. I would never go broke over a handbag but I feel like continuing to buy makes me look like a chump not to mention at risk for getting mugged
Crazy !! I’ve been saving for atleast one Chanel bag. By the time I’m ready they have another and another and another price increase. Madness !!! I’m buying 2nd hand
@@ral808No, it's actually not. I got to add a few Chanel handbags last year and this year after wanting my dream bags. I got great deals on the preloved market. It's a buyer's market right now. Bought a black medium classic flap in lambskin with gold hardware full set in like new condition from 2019 for $6400 USD. Chanel black jumbo single flap in caviar leather with gold hardware was $4500 USD. Chanel red mini square in lambskin with gold hardware was $2850 USD. Just to name a few items I bought recently.
I stop buying Oran sandals at the end of last year with the last price increase they had. I was able to buy in November 2 pairs of Manolo Blahnik Hangisi on sale for the price of one Oran. Totally worth it for me, classic Manolos even if I have to use it to wash dishes with them on 😂😂 feel like a million dollar housewife 😂
What shocks me the most is the quality is down. Like really down. I see complaints with “leather” bags and even in the beauty segment of Chanel and others people saying they used their fragrances their whole lives and now it doesn’t lingers anymore.
Until people understand supply and demand and stop spending money for a while in these luxury houses then they will continue raising their prices. Sad but true.
Wonderful advice SD! All good things to those who wait ❤ 2024 is definitely shaping up to be a reflective year, a year to slow down, a year to luxuriate in what we already own. I’m feeling the sentiment from everyone, and I like it ❤
I was ready to buy a new watch this year but JLC raised pruces on the model i wanted from $6k to over $10k in the span of just 2 years! Feels like a scam to pay twice as much for the same product.
They are so basic and nothing special and lot of people say they aren't comfortable. People wouldn't even bother buying them if they weren't after bags so they buy whatever it takes to get an offer.
Having owned a couple Orans purchased from US boutiques (which I don’t wear anymore sadly) it’s insane to know that such price arbitration exists in other part of the world. And there is no way I will ever spend 2 to 3k in a pair of ordinary looking sandals..
Your vlogs have become my new addiction (move over luxury handbags, there’s a new Sheriff in town and his name is Dacob)! 😁 Your content is top shelf! 👏🏼👏🏼
Just checked the Oran sandal at the local Hermes here it’s 760$ in the Middle East don’t think these price increases are correct that you’re suggesting. It’s not correct that you are suggesting it’s 3k$…
This must be it. Today in South Korea the normal orans are 794 $. And the article says that the price increase is already there. It’s so misleading. They could also claim that the Birkin was 11000 $ in 2023 and in 2024 it’s 30000$.
Chanel no 5 has definitely been changed, and no longer worth the money. I will never buy another bottle. Purchased the holiday edition, and it lasts about 2 hours max. It used to linger on things for weeks sometimes .
No kiddin. I bought another set of bottle last dec and it didnt last like my older no.5 bottle I bought few years ago. I keep asking my husb.if he can scent the perfume..
Thanks for your take. They will still make their sales, but they will loose a big chunk of it, because the most sales come from people who are buying a lifestyle and a dream.
The price increases make it very unappealing for me. I enjoy luxury and I still will purchase but I a much more conscious of my purchases now especially when it comes to handbags now. I only have 3 on my wishlist and I believe that if I don’t get a certain one this year it’ll just go on the list for next year. I’m also really focusing on the sales and discounts for items. Something about getting something for a percentage off thrills me so much!
Another great video! Couldn’t agree more with what you said, I’m sick of these luxury brands too, everyone is copying the same design here and there then tweak a little bit, then slap their brand on it. Nothing unique or special anymore! In fact I love brands like Senreve or Polene, they have their own unique styles.
Are we still talking about luxury goods? Or is it the housing and rental markets? I feel like all these things are mirroring each other. Plus what the war in Europe has been doing globally to the food and gasoline/oil market. One thing piggybacks the other. As always, your video is thoughtful and informative. ❤
Well I'm glad I bought my Parade en Fanfare 90 a few months ago and not today. I wouldn't get it at the new price. $3000 for Oran sandals? Hell no. Also in Canada they are CA$1050 right now, which is US$780.
I noticed that at Hermès the Chaine d'Ancre bracelets went up: GM from 1210 to €1400 and TGM from 1260 to € 1500... Do not regret my 2023 purchases... And the necklace is never in stock. Very hard to estimate how much mine could worth now.
Why would I ever visit a Dior/Gucci/Versace hotel/restaurant if I can go to an actual 5 star hotel, even better a boutique, or a privately owned Michelin starred restaurant? Idiotic.
I got my small classic in caviar in 2020 after watching your review video of your clasic bag. So thank you 😂 today it costs double than what I paid for 😅
To be honest, I’m waiting for the collapse of the luxury system... don’t worry, the craftsmen will eventually realise their bosses were idiots, discover they were the ones possessing the power of know-how and skill all along, and set up their own collective workshops like what Loewe was when it first began, producing things with more pride and love and bringing luxury back to what it is supposed to be, before the internet they needed these conglomerates to run brick and mortar shops in foreign countries and connect suppliers, now all that can be easily managed without the middle man.

In Australia Chanel sales for vip only😂
Australia seems to have quite a bit wrong going on eh? Allegedly
The designers have become too much.. it's all too much so I've stopped caring. I only buy sales too.
I agree with you my love, I buy less now and more thoughtful with my purchases. 🙏🏼😘😘😘Sandy
Best way to proceed in my opinion 🥰
Oran is not comfortable to wear. Might as well use the medically prescribed slides
I think that seeing all those unboxing makes me don’t want to buy things anymore…. Everyone has the same thing, be original
Oran sandals are $1250AUD in australia - is that about to change ?
In Europe the price increase happened on January 1st. It’s about 3-4% for shoes. I bought Chypre sandals in December in Paris, now they are 3% up.
Preach sista!
