its better to buy vintage chanel, i got a skirt and a plain black blazer it has no logos at all, it was from 1980's the skirt was very well made, its almost like haute couture
Another stunning performance - this was healing to listen to. I haven't bought anything from Chanel, but I'm a huge Karl Lagerfeld fan, because he was, like you, philosophical about fashion and everything that he did. All the top people are (philosophical that is). The material world was a framework through which Karl made his own dreams literally come true (some dresses he saw in dreams). And he was a soulful and creative being, just like you. He would quote Nietzsche and it was great to see you quote Plato, yes! But back to you - you're a true leader , showing people how to enjoy this stuff, but not get lost in the world. How to be oneself, to have fun and be a leader in our own lives and be creative ourselves. Also loved your views on the resin pieces (I don't think I left a comment on that one, but I loved learning how all that stuff works, you have great knowledge to share). Thank you so much for your views, loving your work 💕🙏
On the first look of the last Chanel haute couture show you can clearly see the CC logo on the buttons, so not really sure about Chanel removing logo for haute couture
Nowadays when there is any logo very visibly placed in clothing/bag, I will take a step back and ponder. Do I want to do marketing for the brand? Is this brand actually worth marketing? Sure I like this piece but generally.. how I feel about them. And I feel conflicted. Bit like giving someone I do not know, a vote. So I try to choose stuff that is not so loud. And this is coming from a person who does not really buy luxury. But the idea is the same weather its Guess, Adidas or Chanel. Are you their cheap work force?
The logo overload is ridiculous, true. That’s the reason quiet luxury is a thing. I loved logos as well, now over it, but it’s maybe a development thing. Or age thing, although I see a lot of 50 plus ladies as well running around like billboards 😂
I've never been a name person, never saw the point of walking around emblazoned with a company name, but I do admit I love a Westwood orb, a McQueen skull, a Versace safety pin etc...actually I love a good safety pin be it VW, Dior, JPG or whoever, that's the old punk in me. But names have always been out. I think we should train ourselves, when tempted by a spendy item, to imagine it without the brands logo and then ask ourselves how much we would pay for it. I just bought a couple (Ok, 4 ) of Versace Greca Goddess bags at sale price and already feel mortified. I think we buy dreams. I am absolutely loving this channel btw. Dacob is such an honest voice and so natural.
Buying high-end stuff--especially when gently used--can wind up saving you a lot of money in the end, but ONLY if you already knew your own style, whether from thrift shopping and bargain hunting or whatever rich kids who do have style do. If you're just buying what you're told to buy, or clothes for the body you wish you had, then you're the person with a closet packed with wasted cash.
Thank God (gold oil and drugs) someone finally came out with it and just SAID IT. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 also love the way you know and openly talk about how monogram canvas is a thick PLASTIC (well, pvc, only the best plastic will do of course) coating on top of a somewhat lightweight cotton. Bravo Mr! ❤❤
People have made gucci look like a crazy standing billboard as well. Neither of those luxury brands aren’t even fun anymore because there’s so many people carrying fakes around. It just makes luxury look and feel no fun or no true genuine enjoyment because of those things.
I'm so proud when dacob mentioned muji cuz I thought no one knows that brand or people not caring enough for that brand. my wardrobe are 80% from muji cuz Iove their natural fibre clothes. I live in hot & humid country so it's important to wear breathable outfit
If I’m doing a logo it’s always restricted to one piece only at a time. Less is always more with monogram. I absolutely am gravitating to leather with less branding, but I’ll never not love LV monogram ❤❤❤

The only people I see walking around wearing labels on the outside are reality tv personalities, especially the real housewives. That was when I became turned off of high-end brands, they see common now. Plus, if you want me to be a billboard, you need to pay me. Plus, the quality is questionable, but these brands are now catering to the meh class, so they don't care.

I do not advertise for any brands, never have, not even as a trendy teen (except for some sneakers that have recognizable swooshes, and some jeans with recognizable pocket stitches.) I even have taken exterior logos off. I even try to get the least possible branding on my vehicles too (some vehicles allow for this), and have had some removed too. I have always had the mentality that I’m not getting paid, so I am not going to advertise. Sure if you know I’m wearing Celine jeans because of the fit or hardware, ok, but no big ole logos or monograms for me. I even bought an LV bag in Paris about 10 yrs ago and I have never worn it. It is the cutest with red leather trim, but I always feel weird showing off and advertising the brand. I have even sharpied, yes sharpied, over the Saint Laurent foil logo of my bag. I just feel more comfortable in my more discrete bags, like my Rows, my Hermeses (and no I will not sharpie those logos, I’m not that crazy) etc.
I have been waking up slowly and it is still a work in progress. I love your content. Just because I am on a different journey and doing a low buy year doesn't mean I need others to do it with me. Great conversation Dacob and I gave this video a thumbs up!
The clue is in the name brands. Extend the word to branding & concept is clear, they are branding folks. Not with a tool that has been in a fire & applied to the skin but with a symbol. A definition of branding = "Branding creates an identity of the product or service in the purchaser’s mind to acquire an edge over the competitors and capture maximum market share. Its design may be a logo, symbol, tagline, etc., that can easily capture the customer’s attention." Off topic but celebrities are influencers too. They are often given their items for free in exchange for being photographed with the item. This helps the brand to sell said item to those who are influenced to buy. I've woken up so the gig is up! The unboxings are great for me. I get to watch others enjoyment with their new purchase without spending a penny of my own money on stuff that l don't need. 💜
Remember how Eileen Davidson from RHOBH used to flex and rock her 60$ shopper? A fresh breeze of air and a clear statement in the hot lake of luxury designer everything! I personally consider logos as a signing of a brand, to signalise the creator, similar as a painter signs his painting. Of course it's not only the brand who profits monetarily but the wearer who receives an emotional and a sicietal gain. Surely a logo plastered outfit is poor taste at least, but paying a ridiculous amount of money to only remove the logo is even more insane, honestly. Haven't we seen it regularly with paying-to-get, back to paying-to-remove with tattoos, fillers, implants?
Very true I agree with every word and learned this years ago. You can have luxury quality without the scams. Luxury brands quality just isn't luxury quality.
Good point Dacob. I’m wondering if the sales boutiques or sales people for Chanel could be a scam outside the US as well. I recently brought back a pair of chandelier earrings 30+ years old for repair because a tiny rhinestone fell out. It took them weeks to get it back to me. More like 2+ months. Since I hardly wore these earrings I don’t recall the exact ins and outs other than that it was made heartier and less perfect looking back then. The pair I got back either parts had been tampered with or been replaced with a completely fake pair. The hanging bigger rhinestones looked very white compared to how I remembered and the earrings no longer had that blackened antiqued gold tinge on it. At first I couldn’t put my finger on it, but the more I look at it, the more unsettling I feel. I don’t know how to go about accusing them of something like this. Perhaps you could offer some advice.
As a trained biologist it is a bit strange to hear people without deep biology understanding talk about evolution. Evolution is just adoption. It could go towards complexity and increased intelligent solutions regarding optimisation for energy but it could also move towards inefficient solution, it is all a tradeoff. Evolution is adoption, flexible and just a process in time without a deterministic intelligent will but as a response to environmental random chaos
I do like your statement Dacob. Less is best. Showing off logos is so vulgar :( People who have the money to buy the Haute Couture: no logo seen of course. Being discret and elegant is so much more attractive.
Great comparison in regards to Chanel RTW logos vs Haute Couture logo less and youtube with ads and YT premium with zero ads. I never thought of it that way.
Well logos are an advertisement for sure. I never considered paying an extra extra premium to get them removed. That seems like a super duper burn if you think about it. pay the price of a small house for your made to order outfit and we'll take our logo off. Haha the joke seems to be on the super wealthy but they don't seem to mind being scammed. But I don't get why you're so angry Super Dakob? I don't really get why logos at a lower price angers you so. That's how things are and you can decide to buy or not the logoed items. If you don't, you can secretly laugh at the joke of those buying to advertise and those paying 10 times more to not advertise. But if you do buy a lovely item, aren't the Chanel buttons thought to be a thing of beauty to the point people want extra? So why rage about the logo on them??😅 I just don't get the rage. Why get upset over things we have no control over. But you can control to buy or not to buy. And most people really dont buy Chanel when you calculate worldwide.
I also LOVE hoe you mentioned the allegory of Plato 's Cave. I was unfamiliar and had to research it. Baby- you went DEEP in this video and l am here for it!!!
Maybe then you should take half a step back and rethink the way you react to aesthetic criticism of LV logo products--perhaps? I'm not a psychiatrist, but I AM crazy.
This is so very well put. About a year ago I sold all my LV monogram pieces (especially coated canvas pieces..this is not luxury) and replaced them with all-leather non-logo pieces. Today, if I see someone wearing LV logo AND its coated canvas, it’s almost an immediate indicator (speculatively) that they can’t afford the brand and shouldn’t be wearing it.. which also COULD send the message to me this person is most likely in financial distress..somebody insecure about their financial situation buying a piece with a distinctive logo or monogram print assuming it would send a message to others proving otherwise. Over the years I’ve definitely done some rethinking.. I’d see someone out that was wearing an LV monogram piece and I said to my self “really?”. I didn’t like my own reaction to seeing that and realized I didn’t want to give off that impression to others either. I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t have anything to prove by wearing logos. Now, I think it’s tacky. I know I can afford it and I don’t feel like I need to tell others I can afford it by wearing logos and monogram print. “Quiet luxury”. Subscription paid, ads REMOVED. In essence, this could just be MY evolution. I started out wearing LV pieces (I’m a wh*re for LV and only wear LV) with logos on them..and in coated canvas because at the time that’s what I could “afford”. I’ve grown a lot over the years and have evolved financially and can now afford pieces without the logo. So who knows anymore 🤷🏽♂️
People are gonna judge you regardless so wear and buy what you want. People will judge you with your LV canvas the same way they will judge you for your leather pieces.
When see someone carrying LV monogrammed coated canvas, I assume that they have proudly stepped up from Coach, MK or Kate Spade. For many, it's their first real luxury purchase. LV ain't my cup of tea, but I can appreciate what carrying it symbolizes.

Doesn’t make it feel special anymore.
I agree with everything you said in this video I do love the vivienne Westwood orb though I think she gets a pass ❤
I don't know what you have done dacob but you great & younger... A great topic & how you put your claims together was very insightful 💜
Hello! First video I see from you. You're so made for this! Beautifully said and nice to watch!
We’ll said! Bravo 👏 👏💜
Love your videos! Thank you for sharing this! 🤯
I do like your statement Dacob. Less is best. Showing off logos is so vulgar :( People who have the money to buy the Haute Couture: no logo seen of course. Being discret and elegant is so much more attractive.
Great eye opening video 👏🏻 thanks !
Glad you liked it! 🥰💖
Great comparison in regards to Chanel RTW logos vs Haute Couture logo less and youtube with ads and YT premium with zero ads. I never thought of it that way.
Best one ever🌷 Thanks 💓
By your logic the Kardashians are broke😂
How did u get so brilliant darling,

😊 Thank you for this video !🎉 I've been evolving, it started when I subscribed to you chanel!🎉❤,Lori
You stated beautifuly❤🎉

I don't have mega money (never had), but I do have a few bags that I got in the 90s.
Channel, Louis vitton, etc. still use them , also have some clothes from a shop that used to be called 'Chelsea girl'. Old English High Street store. (went on to become Top shop). Think I might be a hoarder 😮😂😂.
