On me... the fragrance opened reminsent of cherry robitussin, very medicinal, as it dryed down, I'm getting almond, powder with a hint of cherry. The cherry makes my mouth pucker initially but after a few hours of wear, the cherry becomes syrupy. I wish it had a hint of peppercorn to balance the powder. I like it. I envision the wearer living in Georgia, she spent her day cooking for the evening dinner party, she sprays this as the guest begin to arrive. This fragrance compliments the smells of home cooking and the cherry pie she made for dessert. The person who wears this lives a carefree lifestyle full of warm interactions. She likes to get cozy with friends and family over a good meal. It's very feminine.
My 2 favorites of the Chanel Les Exclusives are Coromandel and Comete ... no question! Coromandel covers fall and winter and Comete covers spring and summer. I think Comete has such lasting power and the dry down is fresh with some kind of sophistication. I would put Chanel 22 , Le Lion and Sycamore as the total top 5. I really enjoy your reviews, they are great!
I was optimistic about Comete but didn’t like it at all. I hope the next Les Exclusif is something more original and distinct, the line has enough soft, sweet pink scents. Something more in line with Sycomore or Cuir De Russie would be amazing.
Comete is very strong floral. It stays floral on your skin the whole day. So it is definitely for floral lovers 😄 price is not a factor for me since other brands as Tom Ford cost even more. So this price is kindda expected
The name Comète is taken from the Comete necklace in diamonds, designed by Gabrielle Chanel in 1932! (Also a fragrance LEDC 1932) The design themes of that ‘byoux de diamants’ collection were stars, bows, fringes, feathers. These diamant jewelry designs are now part of Chanel haute jouailleri, to be bought at Plave Vendôme No 18 ( also a LEDC fragrance) the metallic linked CC logo on the top op the box is to represent diamants and the actual comete necklace is as a 3 months limited edition embossed in the box. Like the fragrance, not totally love it and it smells different, more musky when layered with the Les Exclusifs De Chanel body cream. For me the top note is ‘amarena’ accord in stead of cherry blossom.
I have tried comete in Chanel boutique: and I love it it’s feminine and sophisticated but idk if the $$$$ it’s worth it bcz the longevity it’s 5,6 hours on my skin! I’m 30 years young lady! 😂❤
I have it and I like it for Spring & Summer. I put the Les Exclusives oil on first to help it last. I also like 1957, No22, and also Coromandel and 31 Rue Cambon for Autumn and Winter.
I've just bought Cometé without trying it first but I love cherry and almond notes so I think that I will like it. I have the whole Les Exclusive range and my favourites are Gardenia, Sycomore, Misia and No18. Great review thanks 👍
Its too cherry blossom for me. I love iris but not a cherry blossom fan, its over bearing here. I have 11 of the exclusifs but im glad I sample this first especially w price hikes. Glad its better for you!
The cherry blossom and aldehydes are not there for the life of the fragrance for me. The drydown is musky, almondy heaven. Olivier does musks very, very well imo. This would layer very well with Misia!
As someone who has invested in Chanel products for a long time, I am not shocked by that price, but how do they expect younger buyers to afford it? The box is exquisite and elegant but I am with you, the iconic logo should be black. I am surprised to hear that heliotrope is almondy. Not sure I am crazy about cherry fruit, but am not sure I know what the blossom smells like. I have so much to learn about the molecules behind these scents. Along that line I just bought the book Scent: A Natural History of Fragrance by Elise Vernon Pearlstine to get me up to speed so I am more conversant with the data that you have at your fingertips. I do love the inclusion of Iris in perfumes and look forward to your video on it. Btw, it is so nice to have fruit trees with such a long growing season here in California, as your mom does. We have quite a number and it makes for such a lovely environment. ❤
I feel like this is Chanel's response to Dior's Gris Dior which has been a bit of a hit with the younger generation especially with the star of that Wednesday show on Nextflix being the face of it.
I’d love to be able to get a sample of Chanel Comete before purchasing. Personally I think the prices of Chanel are outrageous. I’d purchase this fragrance only with some type of discount or sale. I’ve never been a fan of Chanel no 5 so not sure if I’d enjoy the #5 Leau. Anyway thanks so much for the video and keeping us all informed.
Your description is making me think of L'Homme Idéal Extrême. Very much so. I'm writing this while watching. Who knows, maybe you'll actually mention it.
About price increases, I heard estee lauder is going for a second price increase in July 1 2024, so that’s gonna be a second increase this year. Did you hear that absurd too?
@@sebastianveri8602I know, that’s why I said “About price increases, …”. The increase I mentioned is gonna impact Tom Ford, Frederic Malle, Killian etc 😓 and it’s going to be the second in 2024 🫥
See? Maceration! 😂 I tried “New Look” at a Dior store; it lasted on me the whole afternoon. Bought a bottle and no, doesn’t smell like that taster at the store and doesn’t last on me that long. Iheard that testers get used many times a day so they get oxygen, and this gives a "push" to the scent. What i heard, but when you said "this doesn’t smell like the one at the store" reminded my experience with Dior. I tried Comete and dint like it much. What i don see is "the younger generation" spending $500 in a scent. They are not that interested…
I recall from my youngest years, going back 60 years now, the smell of Chanel No. 5, that my grandmother and my aunts would wear. I think my mother might have worn it sometimes, too. I loved it. It was hypnotizing, transfixing. Since I got into fragrances, about 4 years ago, I have from time to time pondered that and wondered whether a man could get away with wearing it. I mean, just because it smells so great. I'm not out to seduce anybody, I just want to enjoy that astounding scent! I barely care even whether anybody else notices. And I'm definitely open to unisex fragrances, even ones that lean feminine (I love Ombre des Merveilles, also Armani Privé Thé Yulong), so I'm ready to "push the envelope," as they say. But when I've done the sniff test of Chanel No. 5 in shops....... Nooooo.... So disappointing, but it really is wa-a-a-y too feminine. I've heard that some men wear it, but it's a no-go for me. I want it around but not on me! I keep thinking, what's the closest thing to Chanel No. 5 that has just enough of a masculine edge to let a guy get away with wearing it? I would love to know, and I'm almost certain I'd spring the bucks for it!
I laugh at the old grandma comments because those women at the time were young and wore Chanel No5. I can’t wait until the next generation says the same thing about the perfumes of now. 😂
😊 I just ordered this perfume when you started the video it did not sound like you liked it 😂and I was like oh! No 😅but then it seemed it got better ❤❤😂
The only Les Exclusifs I have is Boy. I like that one. Fougere accord wrapped in Chanel powdery aldehydic floral DNA. Full bottle. I tried a decant of Jersey, which is similar to Boy. I like Boy better. This Comete sounds too feminine. Boy and even Jersey are more unisex to me.
This video seems WAY off your game. The box design is limited, to celebrate their Comete necklace! Cherry blossom was a little strategic by them, it was released right near Chinese New Year, so to appeal to a particular demographic at launch.
Chanel is such a miss. The brand name is so well known but the actual fragrances simply would not sell if they didn't have the name. Dior has remained modern and has made the shift through the years while remaining a classic brand. Chanel.... goodness no. The mens line is much better at staying relevant. I just don't know how their women's line sells at all. And seriously.... chance way Tendre is just a pink bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy.

Interestingly, I'm stumbling on this comment just hours after sampling both comete and coromandel at the chanel boutique in selfridges manchester

I went into the boutique to buy a bottle of 1957 and left with Comete instead. It creates such a comforting scent bubble.
You are my favorite so glad you are reviewing
Mine too
Thank you both!! :)
They are actually using a cherry note, a specific French cherry that is savoury. They told me this at their VIP launch for Comete
The price for me is just sky rocket, i can't keep up!
I agree! There are so many other great fragrances at a fraction of Chanel prices
Comete is very strong floral. It stays floral on your skin the whole day. So it is definitely for floral lovers 😄

I really like it. I got a 200ml tester of it a couple of weeks ago.
nice. how?
Where?
I really enjoy it. I get so many compliments!
Good to hear!
I love Iris scents. Looking forward to that video.
Chanel certainly smells amazing on my mum, not so much on me. Chanel does have a DNA for sure

Chanel Comète is a beautiful perfume.
I enjoy Comète. As the juice macerates the heliotrope comes out even more 😊
Great review thank you
Thanks for watching!
I am about to buy this one!!! I love it!
Awesome!!
Great review. Thank you!

I agree. The drydown is sublime.
Thank you Sebastian, Comete is beautiful warm and cuddly.
Beautiful scent Comete, purchased last week in Europe..Love Les Exclusifs from Chanel ❤
I'm receiving a Comete sample with my most recent Chanel order! I'm excited
Hope you enjoy it!
It’s not a big wow, but very well done and super enjoyable to wear, the dry down and trail are so nice!
Got to try it out

They have a few Iris scents Misia and 1957.
Yes
Are there any similar fragrances that you would recommend? Also any realistic or sour cherry fragrances?
@victoria4671 have you tried Guerlains Cherry Oud from the L’Arts and Matiere collection? That’s quite a sour cherry fragrance.
@@lindahawthorn6075 im pretty new to fragrance so no i have not; but i will look out for them, thanks!

Are you planning to review new Fendi collection?
I still haven't gotten into Chanel. There's something to be said aboout that vintage vibe so many of their fragrances have.
have you smelled any of les exclusifs? Le Lion for instance is nothing like the others
That’s what great about Chanel
the price is a barrier, but I'd like to sample it
I bought this after smelling it on my girl friend. The trail is beautiful. We’re 35-40. Is this the younger crowd you speak of? 😂

Might you mention Momentum Unbreakable in your iris video tomorrow, I wonder? I'm mad for it.
I don’t know this one, but the video was shot week ago. I’ll have to search that fragrance out though. 😀
Comete Reminds me of Chanel’s 1957
Still think this is are three best one Le Lion, Coromandel and Sycomore
I sniffed this one last month.. Iris bomb if I remember correctly.. unisex leaning pretty.

I love my comete!
Which fragrances does it remind you of?
Wife tried a sample and loved it. So I got it as Xmas present all wrapped up already! This is a female leaning fragrance in my opinion.
I thought it was released in March?
I laugh at the old grandma comments because those women at the time were young and wore Chanel No5. I can’t wait until the next generation says the same thing about the perfumes of now. 😂
Exactly, Erba Pura will be a geriatric scent
Comete was love at first sniff for me. To me it's extremely powdery, with a touch of florals. I am female and would say it leans feminine to me.
Finallyyyyyyyyy
It's Comète.
Yes when you have people assisting there's always screw ups!
this sounds like my style..please let us know if it can be worn for summer heat 🥵 or whether it will last..

I tried it in store, nothing special.
I can see this yes but it grows on you
Seem like they’re trying to reach the young. Yes the price is🤬. It reminds me of Obessed for women by Calvin Klein the bottle
Oh I haven’t tried the Obsessed.
Seem like they’re trying to reach the young. Yes the price is🤬
Nope, powdery fragrances are not for me and for those prices... no thank you! 😆 Guess no Chanels in my collection. Thanks for the review Sebastian!!!
Fair enough!
Le Lion isnt powdery. get your nose on it when you can

I see your designer bottles are proudly displayed again with JPG’s Scandal Absolu leading the way. Have you posted the review for that yet?
Didn’t work for me, nothing special
The L'Eau bottle is just a copy of their very popular and expensive (yet mediocre) hand cream.
