For the S2 bracket battery mounting, it has a belt clip, can use the screw mounting bracket as (many of us still) used for AD360 batteries. Then can mount it on the light stand you'd be using anyway with a larger Bowens modifier and have a little counterweight with longer cord.
So what you're saying is "You would have to mount it further down onto a stand, it does have a clip on the back of the plate so there are ways to do it" like 11:38 ?
Just found your video...I just got a ML60 bi light and I don't have a softbox. The one you mentioned in this video is no longer available. I don't need anything fancy but a softbox I can mount on this light without any adapters etc...just something to soften the light a bit- I have some interviews to record this week! I will use this light as my key light and 2 led panels as fill and back...how would you soften the light without a softbox? Just diffusion paper? Not the same I know...where can I get a compact softbox for the ML-60bi in 2023? thanks so much

Though the same I said about the AD300pro I will say here, I have already invested quite a lot in Bowens modifiers, while I appreciate the smaller foot print of the speed ring, but I don't see myself buying another set of modifiers just for the Godox mount, kinda wish the Bowens adapter was included (Specially when all my other Godox lights are Bowens mount) Kinda not liking how hard they are trying to push their own mount. I know it is an easy fix: get the newer S mount adapter.
Great review as always! In my humble opinion, the ML60 compares favourably to the Forza 60 in terms of performances, whilst offering a superior value proposition. The battery plate is included with the ML60 but is a cost option on the Forza 60. Nanlite accessories are also significantly more expensive than their Godox equivalents - but in fairness to Nanlite, their current accessory line up is definitely better. I'd love to see a sensibly priced zoomable Fresnel attachment in a Godox mount, plus a strip box and a lantern style modifier - I think these additions would make this the most compelling proposition in this class.

Should I get this light or the sl200 mark iii? Given being a beginner and limited space. My art studio is in the basement with not so great daylight ceiling lights . I also want to use a dome diffuser
Yeah, I was caught by the same dilemma where ML-60 is designed to be a location light, but at the moment there are very limited accessories. I can't even find a complete set of honeycomb grids to work with the ML-60 reflector. There are a few more accessories for AD300Pro that I think should work for ML-60, but there are no reviews at all. I have to dig very hard to put pieces together. AD-R14 with filter holder for AD300Pro should work for ML-600, BD-10 barn door too but you need AD300Pro reflector. Can you share the snoot that works with ML-60 if possible? Also no info about the f stops for the diffuser and grid on AD-S60S.

Doubt it. There's one bi-color COB on the market right now and that's the Aputure 300X. I don't see that making it's way to smaller LED's yet because it can be too much of a reduction in peak brightness across the color range. Not sure what you mean about the Forza being a better option, all the Forzas are daylight as well.
it's name is nanlight forza 60b. b for bi-color (2700-6500K). it's already available at adorama etc. of what I heared peakbrightness should'nt be that bad ...
Simple solution for the S2 bracket is to not mount it on the stand. Mount the handle bracket on the stand and simply tighten the S2 brack on the unit and attach your bowens modifier. Best of both worlds!!

Thanks Wendy. I'm confused on the latter part though. Flashpoint has not changed the mount on any Godox product. The Godox AD400 Pro has a Godox mount natively, but includes a bowens mount adapter to be attached. Flashpoint Xplor 400 Pro is the same. Both the Godox AD300 Pro and the Flashpoint Xplor 300 pro have the Godox mount, and both can be put into the S2 bracket for use with Bowens mount.
Robert what (bigger) batteries were you using? I don't have any batteries so would have to buy a pair, hate to order the wrong ones! Very interesting review thank you.
great review ... going to give you a tip on its setup: instead of having the light set up with the front (softbox side) on the same side as the battery pack, mount it facing the opposite way. Like that, not only you can tilt the softbox further down, because the battery pack is on the back of the light, it will help balancing the weight ... and you can put the S2 bowens mount ring without an issue
I would instead just tilt the mount all the way back (under the ML60), and use the S2 bracket as the stand attachment, since it's a much larger pad and will more easily support a larger bowens modifier. This works, and keeps your battery close, but it's simply not a clean or well-thought-out design.
If I wanted to use the "paparazzi effect" could I have it dialed in and ready to go so when I switched the light on it begins in that mode? I'm thinking ahead for a video project I might do and a couple of these would be great for that effect, but it will lose its impact if it's already strobing before I need it to.
Have you tried folding the handle back and mounting the light upside down in the S2 Bracket? I have to turn the Forza 60 through 90 degrees to get it in the S2 bracket.

How do you gel this thing in a AD-S*? Since it is not bicolor? Maybe the only thing I don't like about Godox. Gelling is an afterthought in most of their products.
I recently received mine about 2 weeks ago. My unit has the “pre-production” tightening handle. No biggy, but I think the 2nd batch got the high leverage handle.
I'd have much preferred a slightly larger light with battery attached to the light (like the SLB60 does) but smaller than the SLB60. Even more batteries of a different kind to carry. Why couldn't they have used the ad200/ad300 batteries to power?
I think you're looking at it from the wrong lens. While you and I may already have ad200's lying around, filmmakers / cinematographers have NP-F batteries from other LED lights, powering small rigs, and monitors / recorders. NP-F is the standard for small rigs and has been for years, making it the logical choice for any portable video accessory.
There’s various sizes of NPF batteries. Though, it’s simple math. If you have 2 NPF batteries that are 20wH, you have 40wH of battery powering a 60w light, that’s 40/60, or 2/3 of an hour. If you have 2 NPF batts that are 60wH, you have 120wH, so it would last 2 hours.
So yes, I received it and as I thought, it can be easy mounted into S2 bracket, with original handle and batteries attached, just rotated upside-down. Unfortunatelly I cannot attach images here but try it :)
Like any light, whether or not it suffices any need depends more on the ambient conditions and distance applied. I often use an R1, a much weaker light, as a video hair light.
It's impossible for me to know the output of a 600 led light, as the individual LEDs could be a variety of watts and even that doesn't directly correlate to power. Would need photometric a of a specific model to compare.
after using the AD400Pro as a photographer, the battery solution they give you for this is absolutely unacceptable. there should be a small battery pack that fits the back of the light perfectly
Oh man, I couldn't disagree more. Do you realize how synonymous the NP-F battery is with portable filmmaking? Monitors. Recorders. Panels. Cameras. Audio gear. Why create a proprietary solution when an entire segment of an industry is already using the NP-F? And in the event that your gear leans V-mount, there's a D-tap option as well.
In discussing it with them and all the talk of people replacing with rubber, they said in their testing, a rubber washer quickly broke apart from the pressure. Mine is still hanging in there but we'll see what happens down the road.

This would match well with my VL150. I'll have to see if it has a barn door option without using a Bowen's mount.
I have both now. The VL-150 and ML60. The 60 is astonishingly bright.

Also neglected to mention that it has a built-in umbrella hole, so you can use smaller octa/softboxes already in possession as well as shoot-through.
