Aside from both being dorks, we both have a lot in common :-) I do a lot of the same stretches, but my 50's are passed! I also like the PCT and the mountains... hitchhiked and backpacked many miles, some of which were on the PCT in the PNW. Nice video of your escape, but it was nice to drag all of us along with you so you weren't entirely escaped!
@@KV_Aventuras from what I can tell you're doing the right things by getting out there and doing what you love! Are you planning on hanging out in the Sierras much longer? It's a long drive to get up there, but of course it's worth getting into the thick of the big mountains there. Fortunately, if you're creative, there's enough secluded stuff for you in SoCal to enjoy without going so far. I bet I can make some suggestions for you closer to home in San Diego!
@@biketothetop The most dangerous part of hiking for me is the always drive to and from the trailheads. Highway 395 and the 15/215 was like MadMax meets Death Race 2000 this Memorial Day weekend. I usually try to hit the road between 3:30 and 5:00 a.m. on a weekday. I'm planning to go back to the Sierras 1 - 2 times per month well into the Fall as permits/roads allow. Discovering this part of Kennedy Meadows (in this video) at the 5-6K' elevation range has extended the Sierras hiking Season by least an extra two months for me. So much to see in So. Cal. I hike a ton in San Diego area as well.
@@KV_Aventuras I like riding my mountain bike and motorcycle near Kennedy Meadows in Troy Meadows and down to Kernville on Cannell Tr.. I know what you mean about the chaotic drive there-- that's the worst part! That's a pretty ambitious plan you have to get up there that frequently. I once hiked up to Kearsarge Pass... so precious!
Don't fret about being past your fifties. One year when I was doing South Lake to Onion Valley, I met a couple guys in their 70's doing the John Muir Trail. I'm in the same boat as you and hiked across America last year and plan to do it again starting in July.
memathews Thanks. Iwould love to come back up to the Washington Cascades. Waiting to see how travel shakes out for July. I’d also like to try out my new Tarptent in a decent rain storm. Cheers.
Nice ! Thanks for taking us along mg with you!
Nice video. Very well done. Thanks. Confirming no need for wilderness permit for this area?
Yes. I got mine at recreation.gov. Look under “Inyo Wilderness Permits” and request the “Kearsarge Pass” trailhead. Costs $5/person + $6 handling fee.
Breakfast #2 is always my fav. Great use of the drone. Dig the music.
Gracias Amigo. I look forward to more hiking and seeing some of your drone footage.

biketothetop Yay! Thanks. Fellow Dorks rule. Being cool is too much work. As for being past your fifties, that is also my goal one day.

A nice overnight to watch on this Memorial Day morning drinking hot tea as it rains here in the PNW.
