great trip! big fish and that is a nice drive up there...awesome to see all that water in the river, Bakersfield didnt even get any water in spring this year. ive driven through on 178 but not up to kernville, super nice up there thanks for showing us
That catch is still one of my favorites! The water levels everywhere are low this year. Such a bummer. If you find yourself on the 178 again it's definitely worth the 30 min deture. It's one of my favorite spots!
Those last few shots of the river and surrounding area were especially awesome. Also, you had some great choices of music accompanying the videos. Very well done. Cheers!
@@DayTripAdventure Actually, most of my trips across hwy 178 were purely to get to the east side of the Sierra (e.g. Bishop, Mammoth) to go hiking. Sometimes I'd have a little extra time on my return trip, so I'd explore some of the area, like a drive up to and beyond Kernville along the river, or taking hwy 155 north-west which is a nice (but long) drive. Often I'd pull off 178 near the Onyx store to take a nap before heading back home.
We took the 178 out of Bakersfield to the 155 towards Kernville Ca from there we went on Sierra way that follows the Nfork of the Kern towards Johnsondale. Thank you for the feedback and for commenting. If you have any other questions about the area I'm happy to answer them.👍🏕😀
Nice trip! It’s such a nice drive up there and you captured it well. I don’t come from the Bakersfield side so I don’t get to see that route. Looks like you guys had a great time!
Thanks Duane! It's one of my favorite drives. We did! Covid has us spending more time together and made us wonder why we weren't doing this before. It was a great reset for us. Which route do you usually take into the Sequoia's?
@@DayTripAdventure - man I hear you on that - feel the same way - we should have been doing this more often! I'm on the other side so I come up Highway 14 then cut across Highway 178. It would be a really long trip for you. A couple weeks ago I picked my girlfriend up in Tehachapi and we came around the other way through the California Hot Springs, that's a good trip too!
Lives lost in the river. Especially in spring when the snow is melting and the river is high. Also the lower portions of the river are more dangerous. The place to go in the water would be late summer and above Kernville on the north fork of the river. Past lake Isabella.
The North fork ends in lake Isabella around Kernville Ca. Kernville is a cool little river/mountain town. You can leave Kernville heading north and the north fork runs along the rode and there are many day use areas marked by brown plastic markers that say day use. Thank you for the support. I hope this helps
All the spots we visited were day use but I have heard of people dispersed camping along the river and there are many camp grounds. This is where I caught the fish. Day use area www.gaiagps.com/public/TKnwd9qdpkY9WKWU1Qa8LRdZ
Looks like a beautiful trip! That was a big fish too!
Thank you. I was shocked when I pulled it in. Thanks for watching! I shocked and humbled that you checked it out! Thank you!
I could definitely spend so time here. Thanks for sharing
The north fork is very beautiful and you have that out in the wilderness feeling
Stunning!
Totally it’s a beautiful place! Can’t wait to go back. Few more months!🏕👍😀
Beautiful B roll, awesome 👏

Its an amazing place. One of our favorites!

Thank you! Those last shots of the river were some of the best views I had ever seen of the river. Thank you for thee kind words.

Super cool! That 155 drive is long lol! Bishop and Mammoth are on my short list. Thanks for sharing.
Wow...wow...wow! Absolutely breathtaking!

I went to the Kern river this year and it doesn't even look like the same river. It was roaring and full of water.
I heard this year the snow melt was crazy. Might be calmer now or if you go in October. If you go in spring it can rage for sure.
Whatcha catch that brown on... beautiful fish eh...
Ya beautiful fish. I caught it on a white trout magnet!
Fantastic
Can't wait to see you all!
Do you have the specific coordinates to these two locations?
I don’t exactly but if you put Kernville into google maps it will take you to the area
Why does it say lives lost? Like while driving ?
