Nice preview of Sherman Pass Rd. I plan to take this road to the Fish Creek area to do some early season backpacking, weather permitting, in April 2024. While I'm in the area I want to drive up to Sherman Pass as well, and maybe hike to the peak.
This a great drive either way. Going west close the the top during springtime I found a watercreek forming where there was not one. It was trippy. 😅🤣😂🤣😅😇😇😇
Looks like a great trip! I think I might be heading that way in a few hours for some overnights! Thanks for taking us along and showing some great areas!
Looks like a beautiful area. I'm up by Sacramento and eventually want to take the 395 all the way down to Big Bear. It looks like its a beautiful area with lots of stop a long the way. New subscriber
Thank you so much! The 395 and the 1 are my 2 favorite drives in California. I'm actually editing a video this week of Big Bear! Lol. There are 4 different roads into Big Bear all are awesome ways to see the area or to make a loop out of.
DayTrip Adventure yeah it looks like a beautiful area, and I’ve driven past it on my way to and from Texas. There are some nice off road trails that I want to run down there though.
We loved staying at Fish Creek. Never ended up staying at Kennedy Meadows but I always wanted to. The south Fork of the Kern River is right next to the campground
You can cross the Sierra's. Itsa an awesome drive. Here's a link to the second half of Sherman pass rd th-cam.com/video/qkxw1VK7itc/w-d-xo.html after this section you can choose to come out of the Sierra's into Bakersfield or California Hot Springs. I went to Bakersfield. You get to see the kern river and Lake Isabella. The pass gets closed in the winter tho.
I also have a video of the drive from Bakersfield to the Kern River and Lake Isabella if you want to check it out. th-cam.com/video/eOOH_qpVZeU/w-d-xo.html
I saw Kennedy Meadows on the map and my first thought was - who the hell goes up there? I bet not many drive up that road. When I saw the turn off in person I thought, I need to drive up that road next time when I have more time. Thanks for the post. Trees look healthy / beetle-free until the 7 minute mark. Nice video of the pass! Did you go in June? Doesn’t look like there’s any snow even on the peaks.
I think it was May but maybe closer to June.
You think the campground in that area is worth staying at or do you have another recommendation?

Does the road cross the Sierras or did you have to go back to the 395?
