      we know from your story and the Sandusky Case that sexual assault survivors can indeed be male too. I hope you continue on your path to healing.

      Thank you for speaking up. My abuse happened when I was 9 and 10 in US Figure Skating. The stigma around male sexual abuse is poisonous. Being honest is the anecdote. Take care ❤

    The comments in this thread about how these women came forward for money, or are lying are plain disgusting. This is not a "war on men." This is called justice. This man had accusations against him for years, that were brushed off and ignored for championships, gold medals, and notoriety. The USA Gymnastics Organization covered it up and allowed it to go on. If you are so fragile that you think it's a war on men then you need to check your actions. Victims who stood up to their accusers and put their foot down and said no more, are heroes.

      TH-cam for you. Always a bunch of kids under 10 years old who go against equality because other people do. They'll find out later in life.

      These were little girls, when this happened to them. I can't believe people would accuse little kids of trying to capitalize on their abuse.

    Even watching this in 2023. This is still heartbreaking to watch in a new unit of time. What these survivors went through is tough to hear about. Hopefully now there is drastic new changes re the USGA and a new code of ethics installed to stamp out this kind of behaviour and hopefully some of these survivors like Ally and Kayla and Simone been installed as new directors on the board. This is still hard to watch even years later

    What if the people who did nothing got the same sentence as the offender? If people were afraid of 170 year sentences, they would move heaven and earth to not only expose people like this but to proactively root them out as a basic function of self preservation. All of USAG, U-M Gymnastics, and the Karolyis should be buried under the jail.

      Yes, AND there are many MANY MANY more sexual abuse/assault survivors out there and a LOT more sexual predators. Putting Nassar behind bars is extremely important but that is a drop in the ocean. If victims speak up, hopefully the ripples will be seen

    There is a real problem with a society that fails to protect their weakest citizens. We are angry and distraught by the vicious abuse that these young girls were exposed to for many years and above that they were disbelieved and discarded when they tried to address the abuse they encountered. The only way to make their story have a positive impact is by making all the enablers of the abuse be trialed and convicted and sent to jail for the rest of their life's. These women deserve more of the people they trusted.

      Yes ESPN, delete the comments. We love living in an increasingly censored society. I will lose all respect for ESPN and I will do my best to stop others from listening if they delete a single comment. We may not like what we are reading but if you are going to put your laundry out to air you know you are opening yourself up to all types of comments. People have the right to comment and if others don't like it they can stop reading, skip over, and ignore them or respond. Notice that I think your comment is pure stupidity and it pissed me off but I am not running whining and crying to anyone to delete the comments because some people think they are "disgusting" You, lady, are helping to promote this entitled victim culture that is so prevalent in our society today. GET OVER YOURSELF! I am now going to find something different to watch because I prefer not to see anymore comments like yours.

    Were mothers not allowed in the training rooms when that monster was doing his "treatments." That seems very odd to just let your child go somewhere with a grown man.

    • @aidanallysmommy
      @aidanallysmommy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      roter13, there were times where the mothers were in the training rooms, and he positioned himself so they could not see. Also, Marta Karolyi wouldn't allow parents to stay in the same hotels as the gymnasts during competitions, and multiple gymnasts were "treated" in their own hotel rooms. In the case of McKayla Maroney, there was a time when she was actually drugged, and she woke up to find him "treating" her.

      because the me too movement has fostered a lot ofbullshit accusations and rhetoric against men. however, thats not today they dont have a point and are fundamentally correct: powerful men are more likely to abuse their power for their sexuality and people (vast majority women) were afraid to speak up. and thats lost on people
