👏Thank you Richard for taking the time to make these training videos. Brilliant training with a clear explanation. I used quite a few of them in preparation for my MOD1 and MOD2. If it wasn't for this video I would have been that person who left the bike in gear. I was already stressed enough so this defiantly helped. I passed my A2 test a couple years ago but have only just got round to buying a bike and riding again. I am finding your videos are an excellent reference point to remind myself of the basics. Thanks again.
You are very welcome James and many congratulations on the pass. Hopefully the weather will improve soon so you can enjoy your new steed! Ride safe. 🏍️
Good day, Richard; I passed module 1 today thanks to my training and your good explanation on your TH-cam videos... On to module 2, I will watch your videos for that too...
Just done my mod 1 at the age of 60 yesterday (passed) Got to say thanks to Richard for these videos. massive help in clearing my mind, my instructor implicitly said not to watch youtube but found these videos fantastic.
Great to hear David! There's a lot of misinformation out there which was one of the primary reasons for making the videos. All the best with Module 2. 👍😊
@@Lets-rideUk Cheers Richard, to be fair the test was easier than the training, do you have a MOD2 video with common faults etc.? i should be fine i have driven 40k a year for 25 years in a car so feel more confident in that.
Just wanted to thank you for all these fabulous videos. I used these plus tor on-road CBT ones and have just passed Mod 1 and 2. There is no doubt that your videos helped me get through (as I didn’t have any lessons). Highly recommended!
I was practicing this manoeuvre in preparation for my upcoming test. I had my left hand on the handle bar and my right hand holding the back by the seat. The instructor told me off saying I was doing it wrong and I should keep both hands on the handle bars, yet most TH-cam videos I've seen demonstrating this show it's ok to hold the bike the way I was doing it in the first place which I feel more comfortable doing! I'm so confused and anxious now that I'm going to mess it up on this part of the test alone!
Just wanted to say thank you for this & other Mod 1 videos. Currently doing DAS. (tests at Lee On Solent). I won't mention exact dates...(I prefer not to discuss same until passed...less pressure). Some mixed offerings on YT. Having sorted out the quality from less so offerings yours one of 3 main channels I watch for clear/good Mod1 content. (consistency is key - your channel great for having all exercises broken down & chronological in one playlist). The diagrams are very useful for reassurance & mind visualisation. Only improvement I can suggest would be to have one video of you in hired an official test area doing a mock test with 3rd person cam & rider cam in corner). Very natural presentation style, (a bit like Martin Roberts from Homes under the Hammer ! I really appreciate you making & sharing this content F.O.C. Stay safe

Really useful and informative series. Thanks for doing this. I got my mod 1 next month, but because of work, I don’t have time to do any training, so I am attempting to pass it with my CBT experience (plus 16 yr car driving experience) and watching people do the mod 1. Your series is the best I have found on explaining tips and tricks of each manoeuvre. I will be binge watching this series.
@@chrischristofis8501 You can learn a lot when you have your 125 bike, and get used to riding and also practise the test on a parking lot for example. I did not pass at the time, because the ultimate issue for me was the bike I did the test on. The clutch was awkward, and I struggled to get a grip on it. So yeah, it’s ideal to do the training in order to also get used to the bike you do the test with.
@@drsparwaga thank you picking up my 125 from dealer tomorrow will practice and book a course of lessons similar to yourself i am restricted on time so want to get it done so i can go on holidays touring
That's the best video I've seen on the manual handling exercise wonderful. One question is there a point in the boxes where the bank cones are that is too far in ! Or does the bike just need to be inside the 4 cone's thanks
Hey there Iain. 😊 Glad the video was useful. 👍 Not entirely understanding the question there - when you say "bank cones" did you mean back cones? As long as the bike is surrounded by the cones you're good. But pretty much all test centres the back of the box is a fence so you can't go further than that anyway! Good luck with it. Any more questions let us know. 😊
@@Lets-rideUk question I have a full USA California motorcycle license I don't think it can be transferred over to a UK licence ? Can I ride to the test center for mod 1 and later mod 2 test on my own.
Got my Mod 1 test next month on a 300cc scooter can I use the side stand for this part of the test or does the examiner prefer the scooter on the full stand?
Hi Benjamin. Ok good news / bad news. Good news: you can use whatever stand you like. Bad news: 300cc is not suitable for any test category (at the moment). A1 is 125cc maximum, A2 is minimum 395cc / 20 to 30kW, A is minimum 595cc and at least 50kW. Plans are afoot to reduce A2 to 250cc but that's still only plans and no idea if / when it will come to fruition. For more information see here: www.gov.uk/motorcycle-test/motorcycles-mopeds-you-can-use 👍
For me i always grab the front brake then put kickstand up, then get on the bike still with the front brake applied. same for getting off i step off with the brake applied then kickstand down. is it ok to do it this way or should i change it for my A2 Training?
That's absolutely fine Jon. It's not set in "law" doing it this way, but we've found it's safer using this method, particularly with smaller riders who have trouble holding the bike up whilst trying to kick the stand up / down at the same time. It's just a bit easier sitting on the bike and doing it - but whatever works really! 👍😊
Watched a few of your videos. I have found them very useful. They don't seem to accommodate riders like myself with disabilities. I have cbt ( and did it on 2 wheels in case you're wondering). I did not do this exercise. I'm worried I will fail mod 1 because of having disabilities. I would struggle to do this exercise because of weight bearing issues. Usually my carer, or one of the other boys that looks after me (that just happen to be bikers as well), helps me get my bike out of parking spaces or moving it where need be when we're out on bike runs. The rest of the exercises aren't a problem. Just that one! Please can you advise me what to do. Staying on a 125cc license is not an option for me. I want to do the direct access course and work towards getting a trike. (It would accommodate my needs better). Many thanks.
Hi there Anthony. Yes, we've always been puzzled by the need for this exercise. Some riders of shorter stature can really struggle with it. We've not had any riders with a disability preventing them from carrying out this exercise though, so at time of writing I can't answer on where the DVSA stand with this. I'd be extremely surprised if they can't make concessions in cases like this. Will have a chat with our local examiner when I'm down there next. 👍
