Demonstrating exercise 6 of the DVSA Module 1 motorcycle test - the controlled stop. -------------------------------------------------------------- #Module1 #ControlledStop #DVSA
I watched all your videos as I’m (finally) preparing for my tests. I thought the location looked familiar and just realised you did my first CBT a long time ago! A shame I’m no longer nearby. Thank you!
I passed today after watching these so thank you. Two guys before me both failed ( got there a bit early). One put his foot down and also wasn't quick enough through the trap. Second also not quick enough and looked a bit wobbly in general. So my advice is don't go unless you're ready. Unless its close by and they've got slots. Also, don't fanny around through the speed trap. I had to retake the avoidance as I was a few mph under. its a big space and no one is going to drive into you.
Absolutely brilliant instruction videos Richard - I have my Mod 1 and Mod 2 on the same day - August 12th in East Sussex - apparently I am using a Kawasaki Z650 for the whole weeks of training before - Even though I have a full driving licence for 30 years I am a tad nervous as the bike seems big - do they not do the Mod 1 and Mod 2 on 125cc bikes anymore? Thanks again for all your videos - wish I lived in Poole and I'd be booking you :-)
Hey there Maf Moors. 😊 Thanks for the kind words - very much appreciated and best of luck on the tests! Yes, you can take the tests on a 125cc bike but this will restrict your licence to 125cc bikes only - this is the category A1 licence. The Z650's are actually reasonably light and nimble - nothing to be worried about. Thanks again and let us know how you get on! 👍😊
Hi Richard, very good instructive videos thank you for your efforts. Do you have any tips for me almost every time I stop my bike tends to lean to the right and force me to put my right foot down. I am good with my YBR125 but getting ready for MOD1 test and the 750cc is a bit tricky. Thank you.
Our technique for this is to stick your left leg out (but not putting your foot down) just before you stop - maybe a bike length before. Foot down as you stop. This shifts the centre of gravity to the left enough to cause the bike to topple left rather than right. Not 100% effective but pretty close! Best of luck.
You will also fail if you run over the speed trap and my colleague found that out the hard way. I asked the examiner what speed I hit in the trap when I did this part to help gauge my speed for the next ones. They won't tell you unless you ask.

@@Lets-rideUk thanks Richard will do :-)
What I've realised about this is all about planning ahead.
Hi Richard, very good instructive videos thank you for your efforts.

I like motorcycles. ✌🏽
Any mod 2 videos Richard? i appreciate not as easy to produce, but have found the mod 1 videos excellent
Thanks David. That's the plan, yes, but it's crazy busy right now and difficult to find the time. 😭

Hi, are you allowed to put both feet down once you stop? Thanks
Yes, no problem. 👍😊
@@Lets-rideUk Passed my mod 1 today, thanks for your informative videos! Helped me know what to expect and good tips!
Congratulations! 🥳
