I'm an absolute sucker for the Astray Red Frame. I got the bootleg daban version when I was starting out. Now, I bought the Bandai one. I love the poses you did on the MG RX 78-2 Origin
I constantly recommend your TOP videos to people on our Facebook group. You should expand them, maybe a TOP RG, maybe a TOP 3rd party, etc. I just love them and there is not enough TOP lists on TH-cam.
Wow, thanks for checking out my video. Well, jabman I'd say do it coz everyone's opinions on which MG to start with differs... And we always need a... "Oh and one more thing"😉
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel amen to that. I hadn't done gunpla in over 8 years and i got the barbatos I completed the first part and put it away. Lol. Im still practicing on hgs for a while.
My first mastergrade was the MGEX Unicorn. Stopped not even a quarter of the way through and decided to get the verka unicorn, full armor, Psycho Zaku, FAZZ, Hi nu, and nu Gundam verka kits. Then I went overboard and bought the PG Unleashed PG red frame kai, mg Exia (fk that kit), Dynames, Kyrios, 00 XN, and mg freedom strike full burst, and mg Quant. That was all in the past 2 months. Have MG Astray sengoku and Red Dragon on its way over from Japan should be here in a couple days.
I built 2 MG's when I was a kid: the Super Gundam and the OG ZZ Gundam (yeah, I know). 20 years later I've picked up the hobby again, and my first MG was the Wing Zero Ver. Ka; probably my 3rd or 4th kit overall after coming back. Aside from the amount of decals like every Ver Ka, it was a very fun build, and I love the gimmicks. Don't fear Ver Ka's, just look at reviews of them first.
I have been hooked on gunpla for the past few months and i only bought 1 model so far, ive been looking for a good mg model to purchase and this helped me out. thanks man!
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes there are many knock off at the moment. If you can’t find them at the moment just wait till Bandai reprints them they are quite popular and Bandai might do it soon.
Done with MG Barbatos, Astray Red Frame, and an RG Sazabi. Got Wing Zero EW verKa last February. Finished the torse and head. ThenI put them back inte box 🤣
Hahaha yes that's where they belong in the box. Once in awhile take them out... To capture that wonderment... then keep them in the box to not loose that sense.
Personally for beginners I would recommend the MG Gundam OYW. Tons of surface details, a straightforward build, good articulation. It doesn't have a Core Fighter, but then that's what makes this MG RX-78-2 version exceptionally solid. The catch is, the kit has been quite rare to find on the market and old stocks can fetch for a ridiculously high price. But once the kit gets reprinted it should be a good beginner friendly MG that doesn't feel as dated as the Ver. Ka or the 1.5.
It has been years since I've built one so I appreciate this list. Fortunately, I have 3/5 already: the Origin special ver., Red Astray 30th anniversary (w/ clear parts) and the Zaku. I continue to buy kits but haven't the time to build them. However, getting some free time now.
first MG is GM 2.0. because there's no modern og GM in 1/144, despite getting into gunpla after hg grandaddy revive released and hguc gm ground type existed. the other reason is because i personally find 1/100 looks pleasing on display shelves as grunt suits. its big, its bulky, its simple, its real robot. with that in mind GM 2.0 becomes the solid choice
My first master grade was the Wing Zero Ver. Ka. I had always been fascinated by it ever since watching Endless Waltz when I was a kid. I stopped gunpla not too long after that. Then, back in June of this year (2021 an 18 year time gap), I got back in with the EG RX-78-2. From there, I was hooked again. I purchased the Wing Zero and never looked back. I've built 12 and a half kits since then (currently working on PGU RX-78-2) with a backlog of about 15 kits ranging the whole spectrum from more Entry Grade RX-78-2s to the Ver. Ka Sazabi that was delivered 2 days ago. I now have an addiction to plastic 🙃
My first MG was the G-Gundam. I fell in love with the fighting series articulation. I've completed the MG Master and Shinning Gundam, and currently working on the MG Spiegel Gundam.
I just got into gunpla last weekend and bought my first zaku 2 revive built then proceeded to go to hobby lobby and bought all the models they had there since there was a sale. And I've built 5 this week. I have two left to build.
I'm currently building MG Barbatos as my first, and have really been enjoying it so far. The injection locations are pretty forgiving in location and easy to make look nice
My first MG was the Kyrios actually... with the second being the Jesta. I would say the Jesta is just like the GM Sniper II: solid, straightforward but with a much more SpecOps vibe to it. TBH, modern kits are so much fun to build in comparison to those old non-grade kits. Now, I've built a bunch of the newer HGs, RGs, and a few MGs. Even building the HG Hazel Custom as my first kit in over a decade, it was so much more fun. I've even built a few non-Gunpla Bandai kits because the experience is so much better.
I did consider the jesta for this list, but since it’s a list for beginners, I know those nubs on the dark blue can stress easy. Dont want that to be a discouraging thing form building more. Yeah true once you are confident in building they’re all fun to build, I’m having fun with my zaku 2.0 mg. I feel Bandai puts a lot of effort to the hg kits too, they’ve come a long way.
When I did my first Master Grade there was only three to choose between OG 1.0 , Char's Zaku II 1.0 and MS-06F/J Zaku II. I went with the Char's Zaku II 1.0 and only built the 2.0 a few months ago (after not building gunpla in around 20 years) but the first kit getting back into gunpla was the High Grade Origin RX-78-02 (to me the Char Zaku II 2.0 was easier to build than the RX78-02) and I'm working on the Dom (wish Bandai would say when 1.5 is coming out).
I just finished my first MG, I did the Gundam Victory 2 2.0 Ver Ka kit, its assembled and I am waiting on panel pens then Ill do the water slides. Ive been doing models and miniatures for 35 years, I really enjoyed my first gunpla.
That victory V2 I never recommend to beginner. When I first read your comment I was surprised. Then you said 35 years doing miniatures I realized that this should be a cake walk. Glad to hear you enjoyed the victory V2 it's one of the hardest mg to build actually, so I think you can tackle any MG no problem. I hope my other gunpla list can help you choose your next build.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel It was a house warming gift, and I really did enjoy the build, Im very much looking forward to the next steps. Im eyeballing the Zaku 2 2.0 next. Ill be watching your videos closely in the future Im sure, I think my friend has created another gunpla hobbyist. Have a good evening.
My first MG was the Z’Gok, standard version. I think I assembled it 11 years ago or so, not knowing anything about gunpla building as it was also my very first gunpla built! I snap built it as it was, no painting, awful nubmarks in place, seam lines, etc and put it on a shelf. Last year I took it apart fixed the nubmarks and seam lines and painted in full with the airbrush and weathered it. Now it’s on display as part of the permanent collection at MUFANT, the fantasy and science fiction museum in Torino (Turin), Italy!
Awesome story… that art piece took many years in the making. Hopefully one day I can make a custom piece to display on one of my local hobby stores. That would be sweet.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel, I’m sure you will, but you can also come over to Italy with one of your kits and present it to the Museum for display. I’m sure they will take it.
My first MG is the Strike Rouge + Ootori. It was a gift for myself. It was refreshing sight because it is out of the ordinary blue and red frame. It is more pink than the rest. I'd say MG build will really surprise you and I agree with what you say about "biting too much more than you can chew."
Bro you deserve so many more subscribers I love your videos. Even though I’ve been building gunpla for years I still think these are all great kits that I’d easily buy again.
The very first Master Grade Gunpla I made was the Gundam GP01.The Core Fighter for this kit is a bit fragile, but over-all is a pretty solid kit. Any mistakes I made on GP01 I rectified and improved when I build the GP01-fb.
My first kit was the MG kyrios about 2 months, then i jumped to Wing proto zero and Epyon! Now im addicted ordering my first “bigger” MG the Seven Sword G
Thanks for checking out my video and taking the time to comment! I think since you’re done with those, you can tackle any mg…. … … but here let me feed your addiction with 2 more videos about BIG MG: 🤣 th-cam.com/video/d6jJKBCHnyU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/KlxjpU9DWRE/w-d-xo.html
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel i watched your video, with the suits ive built would you say i have the experience to to the Nu or ZZ Ver Ka? Ive been one of those people intimidated by a Ver Ka
I bought mg banshee from a guy who quit Gundam It's built and there's a lot of work to fix. He don't properly cut the parts and left so many marks to fix. Eventually I fixed it and I airbrush the new color.
Both good kits, I love my MG freedom 2.0... I actually want to build another wing. I'd say save the barbatos for later after you build a few MG coz it's a refreshing build.
My first kit full stop was the MG Red frame, the detail on the arms and legs- and let's be honest, the Katanas- turned me on to this dead sexy MS. Every few years I go back to the well with the RG astray, both are great options.
Ngl, picking the MG Age 2 Magnum as my first Master Grade kit after 2 HG's was a bad decision ngl, now 2 years later, I dismantled it, because while I was in the building process, there were some difficulties that I had to face, like I had some fitting issues so I had to cut something to fit it in, and then after 8 months of finishing it, I picked it up again to change the pose, the hand peg just gave up to me, and then after 4 months after the left arm was broken, the same thing happened again on the right arm, so I decided to just dismantle it, and just use it for kitbashing purposes in the future, I kinda wished I picked the MG Sengoku Astray thou, but sadly I was a dang Kyoya Kujo Fanboy
My second gunpla kit was the MG RX-78-2 3.0. I kinda liked the complexity, might’ve set my expectations a bit high though, but haven’t been too disappointed with the Zeta ver Ka, or the Char Zaku 2.0. Btw my first gunpla kit was the RG Wing gundam… Sorry for the long paragraph…
I also have the same HG red Frame modified it. Built the same MG Red Frame, I love it and I think its awesome kit. The only gripe I have is the joints degrades in time. The "V" fin of my MS also to brittle (notice the same as your sample).
Gundam Mk 2 2.0 was my first master grade because finding anything in the MG scale is hard where I live and i like how it looks then I started collecting the Gundam Wing Gundams because they were my first big exposure to the Gundam series and I always liked how they looked I do need that Proto Zero kit as well as Tallgeese and Epyon to complete the gang but they are all great looking kits on display
I do need a MK II 2.0 that is a special MG. Thanks for sharing. My delima is I want the original version for the base it comes with but I also want the titans ver for it's color. But I don't want to get both... Such a conundrum.
My first MG is the Blitz Gundam which was really fun to build but had so many bad nubs, because I did not have proper tools at the time I was building it.
I got the Red Frame Astray as my 1st MG kit, it was supposed to be an MG RX-0 - but it got delayed so while waiting, i grab the RFA - and it's absolutely fantastic for a 1st timer to build a MG. I choose the RFA due to its design and the 3 swords you'll have as a weapon.. body frame is quite slim, the mecha design is a wow factor. Sword wielding mecha looks great (just wait until you build all the weapons - that big, Tactical Arms II L) You're insights about the MG build for beginner is cool..
Indeed it is. I’ve build the tactical arms already just omit it in the video to give the Red Frame a more swordsman mode to show off the articulation. I do love my Mg RX-0 not for beginners, the 3rd mg kit i build. broke it in few places managed to fix with glue but still love the kit. Thanks for your comments, glad you enjoyed the video.
just got into the hobby, my first kit was the RG Nu Gundam and i loved it, and now in transit i got the RG Sazabi and the MG RX-78-02 The Origin, looking forward to my first MG
Alright!!! The MG Nu Gundam Ver Ka is my favorite MG. The RG came later so the MG is not as solid as the RG but still my Favorite. Excited for ya. Coz you started with the RG Nu it's basically a mini MG, so transition should be smooth just don't get those Ver.Ka till a few MG later. 👍
The very first MG I bought was Destiny gundam and as a kid I’ve always loved the strike freedom gundam but as an adult I’ve grown to love the Destiny gundam more
I just join to play gunpla, after 2 HG (Kyrios, and Union Flag), then my Frist MG is Heavy arms Ew Igel custom, and that quite difficult to build, take me whole 4days to build it, then zaku II(much more easy), then my 3rd is HRIM Wings Zero(abs build frame) and build it much more faster 1 and half days, even Wings is quite pain to build, but with better experience and tools it's appears easy and more enjoyable to build, and now 2 weeks in my new gunpla hobby I find this channel, relaxing speech, good even compare with Mecha Gaikotsu ( different approach) but I find same quality.... Thx man
Thank you fellow hobbyist! So happy to hear you're enjoying the hobby. You build it fast takes me 1 month to finish a kit but I like to take my time. It's an honor being compared to Mecha Gaikotsu... Learned lots from him.
First MG: Shin Musha Gundam because first time in Japan and it was Gundam + Samurai combo, a perfect encapsulation of "Japan". Followed by: Sinanju Stein Ver Ka; Unicorn Ver Ka; Wing Zero EW Ver Ka Is this why my hair is going white? Quick, someone slap me before I get a Sazabi Ver Ka or Zaku II Psycho Ver Ka
Aight for the reason why the red frame was my master grade(the daban one) its because my dad showed me a photo of his friend gundam collection and i saw the red frame kai and i fell in love with it and the time he showed me the photo before was 7 years ago
My first MG build is Gundam Exia, 2nd is Freedom Gundam (weak pegs), 3rd is RX 78-2 Gundam the Origin. RX 78-2 Origin is my favorite among them. I'm also planning to buy Zaku 2.0 since bandai haven't release any Origin version Zaku's yet which kinda sucks.
Nice, I am currently building the char Zaku 2.0... for same reasons, no origin ver 😂 I'm hoping to try modify it to look like the origin version... Maybe some scribing and water slide decals.
5:02 I actually bought and own MG Hi-Nu Gundam Ver Ka. A little while ago. THAT WAS A BEAST OF A BUILD!!! Took me 3 days to finish it!! I’m actually enjoying knowing about these easier MG sets! I may get one of them in the future. Thanks!
The Nu ver la was my 3rd kit I got didn't build it till my later. It's my favorite I like it so much I got the Hi-Nu... Saving it for when I need a Beast building fix. All the ver la kits are really next level MG.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel Nice! I really really want to build Wing Zero Custom! It’s quite possibly my favorite Gundam. My love for Gundam started with the Gundam Wing Anime. Word of warning for when you do the Hi-Nu Gundam. Some of the parts are really fragile! Specifically the fingers for the hands, we’re they can pop out of their ball sockets very easily, if you use to much force. Enjoy the build though! 👍

I’ve gotten 4 kits under my belt now (2 HGs and RGs) and I’m thinking of getting the MG Wing Zero EW Ver. Ka as my first MG based on the stellar reviews it’s received. I’m looking for something a bit more challenging than HGs and RGs, so hopefully I can do it once I get it!
The original wing zero was going to make this list. But we have a ver ka wing zero now. I did consider putting that ver ka in. As I do think it’s on the easier side of the ver ka spectrum. What made me not recommend it is, its more complex as should be and the transformation is not as easy. Looking at the kits on my list, I think it’s a notch higher in difficulty level. But if you really like it and have the passion for it go ahead as you can see many started with a ver ka kit on the comments here. Its definitely more challenging than a hg and rg and some mg, but again it’s not as challenging as some other ver ka kits. I’m rooting for you! Do tell me how it goes!
This was an awesome video. Good choices. I do stop motion animation with the many kits i built and havent been building. Watching videos lile this got me back building and i just built the mg wing 2020 ew. It was so fun and videos like this inspire to build again.
So far I've only built one HG AC Deathscythe but yesterday my first MG arrived. I pretty much picked the 00 Dynames based on the color and design. Of corse availability and price also played a mayor role.
I decided to get into this hobby and my first kit that is on it’s way is the astray red frame kai. Those dual katanas were awfully tempting. I will probably snag a few high grades and build those first before the kai.
when i was a lil boy, i bought my first mg. zeta 1.0. loved it to bits, i even broke the hip joint. must blown my mind back then due to the transformation gimmick. and i friggin love zeta! however i never able to turn on the led. so is pg eva
@Khoirus sobri: I got MG Zeta 1.0 and MG Gundam GP-01Fb as my first two MGs. MG Zeta 1.0 was my favorite version of Zetas over time, if it wasn't for the crappy transform system (over time, the hip joint breaks/splits apart from the back frame on its own, losing both legs right away… I had to glue it to the back to keep it in one piece, and never transformed back to MS form after I fixed it and left it in Wave Rider form). It is one of the few that has the best balance between Waverider amd MS mode --- I did built Zeta ver 2.0 but the legs are way too long and once tramsformed, there is no landing gear for either plain Waverider or Waverider with Hyper Mega Launcher mode, which Zeta 1.0 has perfect landing gears for both. MG GP-01 was good looking in its time (technically, ALL GP series too) but deserves an MG overhaul, whether it be MG 2.0 or ver. Ka. However it seems that Bandai rather release RG versions… and we are still missing MG GP-03S in RG (there is an extremely important use for this --- replacing the well overdue HGUC GP-03S, especially for the Orchid base). Honestly I think Bandai should redo MG 2.0 for GP-01/Fb as a convertible kit (just like the PG one), maybe under MG Ex brand? it would certainly prove to be quite a kit for Gunpla fans to look forward to... although looking at Bandai's strategy lately, they are concentrating mostly on RGs and HGUCs as new products.
My first MG was the MG Gyan just for the sole purpose that i really like its design. I hope my tastes arent classified as weird by most people lmao but i enjoy it nonetheless
I started with the MG Red Frame Kai and the Nu Gundam Ver Ka. They just looked so awesome. Any Zaku 2.0 is a good starter. Love the MG Origin I'd throw the 00 quant/raiser/7sword in there too
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, i do agree if you wanna get 00 kits to get the older kits first before the new ones. I know 7 sword is newer but based on the old kit.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel yea. I kinda accidentally jumped in the deep end of the pool 1st🤣 I was going to get the XN Raiser but I got the 7sword as a gift so im good for now. It was much easier than I thought it'd be...Looked like alot but it actually wasn't.
I got the astray red frame because my first real grade was the red frame so I wanted my first master grade to be the red frame but after that I got hooked on master grades and to build one a year just for the fun of it
My first mg was a gundam mk 2 2.0 I bought it because I was overwhelmed by how many gunpla is in my local hobby shop and I wish I got something better If you like the granddaddy gundam but like something a little bit unique I’d recommend the age 1 mg
I start building gunpla this year and my very first one are MG Duel Gundam. I never build HG and jump straight to MG and I never regret it. Why I choose this kit? Because I grew up during SEED era and I like Duel design in its full armor more than anything in that series. Duel Gundam is the one that looks like a military prototype unit the most(?). The box art is awesome and the kit is not hard to build either.
That’s a good kit! Glad you got a great kit to begin with! True SEED kits are polarising stylised designs and the duel is the more military looking like you said. Thanks for sharing.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel yeah nubs wernt too bad, I had also built a few hg kits before, the only thing about black kits is that decals do not look good on it lmao
My first mg was non other the titan himself. Sazabi ver ka. But I basically had an army of hg and rg at that point so only the size and water slides really intimidated me. Learned a lot from that one kit alone and it opened up the gate for my ver ka love. Still don't have a pg yet. But I'm pretty sure when I get one it's gonna be a unicorn or maybe strike freedom
Nice nice, I’ve yet to build a sazabi, right now working on the Hi-V ver ka. It’s funny I have not build a pg yet but I want my first pg to be the unicorn, if possible the final battle version. I just hate how the LED is so expensive!
My first MG which is on its way, is the MG Gouf Custom. Just love that MS in every way possible, my favorite of the entire franchise. Wish Bandai released a 2.0 Gouf Custom. I’ve been eyeing that Astray Red Frame for a min now as well - I built the RG and it was definitely a bit more difficult than the average RG, but it was such a fun and amazing build to see finished. I can only imagine the MG.
Coz the rg red frame came later it might be more advance then the MG. I think if they have a gouf custom 2.0 it would be a Premium Bandai kit. But I wonder if one can kit bash a gouf custom 2.0 if one combine the 2 kits? Older gouf custom and a 2.0.
I like master grades it took me 3 days to complete my Mg Exia and Mg 00 seven sword. The Mg Exia was my first Mg. Now that my brother owns me over 400 USD I’m getting almost every Mg from the Seed series
I forgot that my brother owes me 375 dollars also for a bed. So I might add in the Mg Dynames, Mg Kyrios, and the upcoming Mg Virtue/Nadleeh to complete the Gundam Meisters of Celestial Being.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel unfortunately I don’t have one but I’m thinking about making one once I start making speed builds on TH-cam. The Eclipse is definitely going to be my first speed build on TH-cam so I might have an IG account by then. Though I won’t be posting things weekly or anything since I’m starting high school. I just hope I make money from TH-cam so I don’t have to spend my brother’s or my moms money.
My first model kit in general was the MG full armor unicorn and uh...yeah I should have waited before ever doing that kit, I messed up so bad on it. I plan to buy it again and build it with what I know now
Actually my first MG was 00 Quanta Full Saber but I love every moment of building it even tho it overwhelmed me with the runners and I only just started building and I only build 1 HG atm. xD still loving the hobby hehehehe
Ver 3.0 granddaddy was my first MG, fun but I can cosign that it's overengineered. I would've went with the origin if it was available but I needed a rx-78-2 and it just happened to be there. Was a little daunting and might've turned me off from the hobby if I hadn't built the RG Nu Gundam just before it. My advice to anyone starting would just be to take your time and have fun. Definitely looking to get my hands on a gm Sniper!
So far I’ve built 3 High grades, 1 rx-78 2, a gold coated phenex “unicorn” , and a destroy mode unicorn with a titanium finish. I’d like to know some tips about kits that have “gold coating” or “titanium finishes” and just know what you have to do differently about those than other kits. But anyway I’m looking to get a master grade and I’ve always had my eyes on the red astray just because I think it’s the best looking kit and that honestly might be my first master grade
Hey thanks for checking out my video and commenting. Unfortunately... With those kits... You wanna make sure they designed them to be coated first. Sometimes they just coat them to sell them as an afterthought. For example... They made the MG Unicorn, then later coat it with gold and call it the Phenex. And the problem with that is, they didn't plan for the nub marks problem. When they made the Perfect Grade Unicorn, they made a lot of the runners undergatted that way the nubs don't show when they came up with the Phenex. So the takeaway is know if the kit was made with coating in mind. Apart that... I do know that with the gold coat at least you can paint the nub marks over with a certain gold Gundam marker its not a perfect solution but, at least it blends it good enough. I guess the same applies to titanium finish if it's a coating. Sometimes they make these high gloss version... Eg the old MG unicorn + Ms cage. Be careful with those because they're brittle somehow. Red Frame? Choice excellent!
Often when removing the nub marks after using the nipper, don't use stuff to sand it down... That would ruing the surface. Use a hobby knife, be careful and All the best!
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel I figured lol I just had to deal with nub marks for those, unless you have other recommendations for a master grade or what I should get down the line. I have looked at the exia but I have heard very mixed reviews
The Exia is great only down is the feet, literally the archelies heel. Can't support isn't body weight. If you really want the Exia I think get the ignition mode. Or... Just wait... Perhaps there will be a 2.0 on the horizon who knows
I've been building for 2 years and I remember my first gunpla was a mg Gundam astray red frame. I didn't realize that there were differences between hg and mg at the time lol
My first kit was wing zero ver ka 😂. Almost done with it. Just trying to find time but I’ve never put stickers on since this is my first kit. Any helpful tips?
I don’t know about you, but I have stubby man hands, so I use a tweezers. But if it’s water slide decals, I’d say get a topcoat to spray on once you apply them to seal them from flaking.
my first MG is RX-78-2 ver. 3.0. kinda weird why those kit got too many parts to put together especially on the arm part. haha, now I know it kinda complex for the 1st timer..
I am a Sentinel nut. My first MG was the ZPlus C1. Having built a bunch of HGs before, I was over confident and careless. As a result, I broke a couple parts in the process. =( Since then, I built the FAZZ (old version), GP02 Fb, GM 1.0, and I have a bunch of the older kits in the queue. I picked up the Thunderbolt Full Armored Gundam Ver Ka. too but I am too nervous about tackling that because I keep hearing how challenging some Ver Ka. kits are. Yikes!
Well since you've build a few of those mg I'm sure you can build that FA Gundam. The FAZZ, C1 and GP02 are mini ver Ka coz ... Katoki Hajime designed them. So you should have no problem. Just go slow take your time enjoy the build. The biggest challenge with this FA Gundam I think is the long build, the main Gundam should be similar to the 3.0 and Alex 2.0 and the rest are the weapons. All the best!
Enjoy it, I am jelly for you, I’ve yet to get my MG sazabi. Be sure it’s the ver ka. The RG is good too. But the first MG, is just in the words of jabman025 “elephant man”
My 1st was MG Ball ver.ka, then I built Zaku Char and RX78 3.0. But those were 10 years ago. Now I'm only interested in MG EX-S, THE-O, Sazabi and Deep Striker. Those bulky ass kits :O
Nice video! I'm aiming to get "Every" version of my favorite Gundam: EXIA! I already have a SD Exia, so now I'm looking for the HG, RG and PG version later on(Yes, I know PG Kits are expensive, but if I can get the cash, I'll order one!)
Nice, tip about getting a mg exia if you’re interested, make sure the Bandai logo is blue. It shows its new and the upgraded the plastics. I wanna get a mg exia one day.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel I started out this hobby with only 1 Hg kit, 1 Rg kit & 1 Mg kit maybe im just to hype for this hobby 😅🤣. Also thanks for the recommendation for other videos i will check it out and congrats u got a new subscriber 🎉. Selamat malam bro 😁
My first master grade was the Freedom 2.0.. so fun to build and also panel line.. I then got the Strike Freedom full burst mode, and that was also fun to build but it's not as flexible as the Freedom 2.0.. my Strike Freedom model kit's joints then broke into pieces when I tried colouring the joints with Golden Gundam marker :(
My 1st ever MG was Shining G Gundam. But I was really young back then and I didn’t really built it. So I guess you can say what my really 1st MG is the exclusive Geara Doga Rezin Schnyder Custom 👍
I want to get my first MG for my birthday, but I'm stuck debating between the NT-1 Alex 2.0, Zaku II 2.0, and the Strike Rouge Ootori RM. Which should I get?
I'd say the strike rouge is the same level as the red frame. Zaku II 2.0 is the most simple... Of your 3 options. The zaku is very simple .. so it will be a step up from HG. The rouge is slightly harder. So maybe both of these
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel Wow, I would've expected the Alex to be the 2nd simplest one of the 3 based solely on the design. But thanks for your response, it really helps me make my decision. I hope that you continue to make great Gunpla vids, and thanks. Also a video suggestion, I would really like to see a video about older kits that still hold up well today.
Welcome... Happy to help. The Alex 2.0 is a intermediate kit. It's a longer build because of the layers. Makes you work with the plastic wrap thing, and some parts are brittle watching a few reviews I hear people braking some parts. Bandai made it with knowing people may have build the 1.0 and want more out of it so they made it more complex. Also people who want 2.0 Alex before it came out we're veterans so Bandai was aware. That's a good idea... Oldies but goodies I'll try scripting. Lately I find... halfway through scripting some ideas don't work but I'll add it.
@Toyama23 Hobby Channel Thanks again for the advice on choosing my first MG kit. I just bought the Char Zaku II 2.0, I was going to buy the MS06-F but it was overpriced, so I bought the next best thing. This is probably going to be my first painted kit, so now I’m thinking about what colors I should use.
Yeah kinda wish I had seen something like this before I started. My first gunpla ever was the mg full armor unicorn ver. Ka still loved it though and got me addicted to this hobby
Thanks! I’ll keep working to make more. This weeks video will be a rereleased of one of my old video. Because I need more time to refine the script for my next top 10 video.
I'm an absolute sucker for the Astray Red Frame. I got the bootleg daban version when I was starting out. Now, I bought the Bandai one.
I love the poses you did on the MG RX 78-2 Origin
😅thanks just trying to make em look dynamic. Thanks for checking my video out.
My first mg was the Psycho zaku ver ka. Excellent kit but it's got way more tiny parts than I thought.
@@nofuxgivens2797 Wow... That's hard core... Respect!

Gee thanks for the support! I will make more!
was honestly just thinking of doing a video like this
Wow, thanks for checking out my video. Well, jabman I'd say do it coz everyone's opinions on which MG to start with differs... And we always need a... "Oh and one more thing"😉
Whooooooo.....
Jabman was here...
And 1 more thing....
Hahahaha
I'm very talented and i bought Master Grade Barbatos and is very good!
Nothing against Barbatos, i recommend it for later coz that kit has a certain jes ne se quoi that you’ll enjoy it even more after building a few kits.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel amen to that. I hadn't done gunpla in over 8 years and i got the barbatos
I completed the first part and put it away. Lol. Im still practicing on hgs for a while.
The MG Psycho zaku Ver Ka is amazing. No words.
It seems to come up in many videos I make... I notice... Must be amazing.
Man you are really enjoying the hobby!
I have been hooked on gunpla for the past few months and i only bought 1 model so far, ive been looking for a good mg model to purchase and this helped me out. thanks man!
Also can you send the link for where you can buy the red astray? I cant seem to find a legit one
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes there are many knock off at the moment. If you can’t find them at the moment just wait till Bandai reprints them they are quite popular and Bandai might do it soon.
My first MG was Deathscythe Hell EW, and other than the wings being a little frustrating, I can definitely recommend it.
Yeah lots of fans for the Deathscythe out there.
Wow!
Next: low price hg and stylist for beginners
Will try make a script with that idea.... But what do you mean by stylist?
I mean a kit that attracts beginners to buy it based on a stylish look .....
Will try to script it thanks
GO try burning gundam
@@Bent_-ms9tl I like try burning too.....😊 But my favorite is astray no name.... is a most stylist and unique kit for me👍
Done with MG Barbatos, Astray Red Frame, and an RG Sazabi.
My first was MG Justice. It was years before I realized and used all the gimmicks. When I did, I bought more MGs and now I’m addicted
Awesome I do like the justice MG love the extra added details
It has been years since I've built one so I appreciate this list. Fortunately, I have 3/5 already: the Origin special ver., Red Astray 30th anniversary (w/ clear parts) and the Zaku.
I continue to buy kits but haven't the time to build them. However, getting some free time now.
Wow... Suprise my list for beginners interest a veteran!
first MG is GM 2.0.
because there's no modern og GM in 1/144, despite getting into gunpla after hg grandaddy revive released and hguc gm ground type existed.
the other reason is because i personally find 1/100 looks pleasing on display shelves as grunt suits. its big, its bulky, its simple, its real robot.
with that in mind GM 2.0 becomes the solid choice
Awesome story! Those EG kits sure are something! Thanks for sharing!
My first MG was the G-Gundam. I fell in love with the fighting series articulation. I've completed the MG Master and Shinning Gundam, and currently working on the MG Spiegel Gundam.
Starting there makes all the other MG feel very very different. I do wanna get a MG Burning Gundam… hoping for a 2.0 or Ver. Ka.
I just got into gunpla last weekend and bought my first zaku 2 revive built then proceeded to go to hobby lobby and bought all the models they had there since there was a sale. And I've built 5 this week. I have two left to build.
Awesome, I’m still working on my mg Alex 2.0 a kit I started last year! 🤣🤣
I'm currently building MG Barbatos as my first, and have really been enjoying it so far. The injection locations are pretty forgiving in location and easy to make look nice
Yeah that mg is pretty special!
I feel Bandai puts a lot of effort to the hg kits too, they’ve come a long way.
sick video! I'm 3 HG kits in and this video was perfect as I want to dabble in the arts of MG's. Keep up these cool videos!
Thank you. I’ll do my best!
Wow that’s amazing, love hearing about the early days of MG.
Nice, the strike remaster is on my wish list to get.
My first mg model kit was the third model I ever built and it was as a ver. Ka and it was the most fun i’ve ever had making a model kit
Glad you had fun, which ver ka was it?
I started on MG Heavy arms and then MG Barbatos. Didn't find it hard, and I loved adding preshading and weathering to the inner frame 😁
I'm saving getting barbatos for later heard it's special to build. Awesome!
Bro you deserve so many more subscribers I love your videos. Even though I’ve been building gunpla for years I still think these are all great kits that I’d easily buy again.
Geee thanks... Never thought this many would be this interested. Will keep working hard for hobbyist like you. Thanks for keeping it awesome.
The very first Master Grade Gunpla I made was the Gundam GP01.The Core Fighter for this kit is a bit fragile, but over-all is a pretty solid kit. Any mistakes I made on GP01 I rectified and improved when I build the GP01-fb.
I want the Gp03 mg the core fighter in that one is my favourite core fighter. Better still i want a 2.0 of all 3 of those kits.
My first kit was the MG kyrios about 2 months, then i jumped to Wing proto zero and Epyon! Now im addicted ordering my first “bigger” MG the Seven Sword G

Haha same first mg!
Astray was the first one I picked too I just love the color Red and the katanas. plus its such a cool looking gundam.

I bought mg banshee from a guy who quit Gundam
It's built and there's a lot of work to fix. He don't properly cut the parts and left so many marks to fix.
Eventually I fixed it and I airbrush the new color.
Ah, doing a kit justice good man! I've been eyeing the banshee. Thanks for watching my videos and subscribing!
I only build HG/RG kit, but I will build 1 or 2. My fav MG rn is MG Freedom 2.0 and MG Barbatos
I do like to pose it without the backpack buster sword
Thanks for sharing your experience. Keep building one-day you'll do a better job on a new MG Age 2 Gundam. I feel that way with my freedom 2.0.
My first mastergrade was a verka kit
still working on getting the time for the decals
Ver ka wing zero?
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel Yep
My second gunpla kit was the MG RX-78-2 3.0. I kinda liked the complexity, might’ve set my expectations a bit high though, but haven’t been too disappointed with the Zeta ver Ka, or the Char Zaku 2.0.
Btw my first gunpla kit was the RG Wing gundam…
Sorry for the long paragraph…
Hey no don’t be sorry, thank you for taking the time to share, I love reading about people’s experiences.
I also have the same HG red Frame modified it. Built the same MG Red Frame, I love it and I think its awesome kit. The only gripe I have is the joints degrades in time. The "V" fin of my MS also to brittle (notice the same as your sample).
Yeah ABS joints… sharp eye spotting it.
I should make a list of top 10 tools for absolute beginners.
Sword wielding mecha looks great (just wait until you build all the weapons - that big, Tactical Arms II L)
You're insights about the MG build for beginner is cool..

Sengoku Astray was in my first 3 MG Builds.
Not sure if I built a GM Custom first or the Astray. Both came from HobbyWave.
First MG: Shin Musha Gundam because first time in Japan and it was Gundam + Samurai combo, a perfect encapsulation of "Japan".
Followed by: Sinanju Stein Ver Ka; Unicorn Ver Ka; Wing Zero EW Ver Ka
Is this why my hair is going white?

My first MG build is Gundam Exia, 2nd is Freedom Gundam (weak pegs), 3rd is RX 78-2 Gundam the Origin.
RX 78-2 Origin is my favorite among them. I'm also planning to buy Zaku 2.0 since bandai haven't release any Origin version Zaku's yet which kinda sucks.

Wing Zero Custom! It’s quite possibly my favorite Gundam. My love for Gundam started with the Gundam Wing Anime.
Word of warning for when you do the
Hi-Nu Gundam.

My First MG is The Freedom 2.0 and the second one is the Wing Zero EW Ver. Ka
The Ver. Ka was a bit tricky but is a fun and enjoyable build
Thanks for sharing. Glad that ver was not one of the very difficult ver kas. I love my freedom 2.0
This was an awesome video. Good choices. I do stop motion animation with the many kits i built and havent been building. Watching videos lile this got me back building and i just built the mg wing 2020 ew. It was so fun and videos like this inspire to build again.
Thank you! Made my day
MG wing gundam proto zero ew is my first mg grade build, I already have the ver. Ka but didnt start on it yet
That would be a smooth transition
So far I've only built one HG AC Deathscythe but yesterday my first MG arrived. I pretty much picked the 00 Dynames based on the color and design. Of corse availability and price also played a mayor role.
I mentioned that kit in the mg audience pick video. And yes especially price plays a big factor!
I decided to get into this hobby and my first kit that is on it’s way is the astray red frame kai. Those dual katanas were awfully tempting. I will probably snag a few high grades and build those first before the kai.
Choice excellent!
when i was a lil boy, i bought my first mg. zeta 1.0. loved it to bits, i even broke the hip joint. must blown my mind back then due to the transformation gimmick. and i friggin love zeta! however i never able to turn on the led. so is pg eva
Awesome! I love my zeta 2.0, one of my favourite builds. I never knew the 1.0 zeta had LED in it! Love hearing about older MGs thanks!
No weird… all unique. I do love the led light up sword.
I got the astray red frame because my first real grade was the red frame so I wanted my first master grade to be the red frame but after that I got hooked on master grades and to build one a year just for the fun of it
Wow... I'm still surprised how many choose red frame for first MG. Awesome!
My first mg was a gundam mk 2 2.0 I bought it because I was overwhelmed by how many gunpla is in my local hobby shop and I wish I got something better
If you like the granddaddy gundam but like something a little bit unique I’d recommend the age 1 mg
I think the mark 2 is a great kit. Agree, if you can find it.
Thanks for sharing.
my first mg was the blitz gundam, a great kit and it looks sick
Not many black Gundams, nubs easy to clean?
My first mastergrade was the wing zero ew verka and my second was the mgex unicorn, was a struggle but i managed and boy was it an experience
Wow that's a leap in level. I think the MGEX is a notch below PG.
I kind of skipping a few steps, my first build ever was MG Strike Freedom Full Burst Mode, easier than what I was expecting tbh
Mine was just the strike remastered. I've since fallen in love with master grades.
I've always wanted a Strike Freedom MG what held me back is the transparent sticks that holds the dragoons and dealing with the gold nubmarks.
oneday... ill get that strike remaster.... love the launch pad, and crazy details added👍
I like master grades it took me 3 days to complete my Mg Exia and Mg 00 seven sword. The Mg Exia was my first Mg. Now that my brother owns me over 400 USD I’m getting almost every Mg from the Seed series
Yeah!!! And save up for 2 Eclipse Gundam! Nice profile pix 😉.
Thanks. That what I’m thinking about since the Eclipse should be compatible with most of the backpacks.
I forgot that my brother owes me 375 dollars also for a bed. So I might add in the Mg Dynames, Mg Kyrios, and the upcoming Mg Virtue/Nadleeh to complete the Gundam Meisters of Celestial Being.
Awesomeness… so happy for you. If you have a IG account for Gunpla I’d like to follow.
I plan to buy it again and build it with what I know now
😱 I feel you bro... Maybe go for the MGEX unicorn instead next 😉
See I would, but money is a major factor in it haha
my first ever master grade was the RX78-4 and 5 back in the day
I think those are good for first time kits, mg was still new and not as hard… those must be hard to find now.
Good advise, thanks of taking the time to share your thoughts. Indeed RG Nu Gundam is a mini MG!
😂 still can't believe how many choose red frame for first mg.
Thanks for your comment and watching. Appreciate it.
so far the first and only Gundam ive put together is the MG wing gundam ver Ka and its amazing
It should be. Coz the 1.0 was already a good kit, dated but good. And Bandai has to make it better than all those 3rd party wing zeros.
Going to buy mg sazabi, for my first gunpla,
Enjoy it, I am jelly for you, I’ve yet to get my MG sazabi.
I see complex stuff only nice
Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
My first Mg was the RX-0 Banshee Unicorn took me around a week or so to finish it. Btw im from Malaysia too.
Hahaha you build faster than me... I take a month 🤣 yeah! I make videos in Malay too if that's your cup of tea.
Selamat malam bro 😁
built 3 hg and my first was freedom 2.0. it was fun and then next I built the xn raiser damn it was not so fun lol
I feel you man... Coz the XN is like the 00 raiser + few more runners ... 😢
My first master grade was the Thunderbolt Fullarmor Gundam Ver.Ka and oh boy did I make a mess of that one.
Must really like the anime
Great vid, Excited to see your favorite RG kits. Still trying to figure out which to get first
The upcoming wing gundam save your money for that one.😉
My first mg was the nt-1 Alex 2.0 I've just started yesterday
That’s as close as we get to the Perfect Grade Unleashed in MG form 😂
Best MG for beginner is Ex-S Gundam. I start with this Gundam as my first MG. I like the design of the Ex-S that my first MG kit.
You're the perfect case of love for the kit surpass the difficulty level.
The other i will suggest is Master Grade Gundam Age 01. It's simple, but it has mind blowing design.
Absolutely, only reason why I don't have that kit in this list is currently hard to find... Unless bootleg.
My first master grade was the Freedom 2.0.. so fun to build and also panel line.. I then got the Strike Freedom full burst mode, and that was also fun to build but it's not as flexible as the Freedom 2.0.. my Strike Freedom model kit's joints then broke into pieces when I tried colouring the joints with Golden Gundam marker :(
Aw… feeel for you man I hate it when stuff breaks… guess we need a strike freedom mg 2.0
My 1st ever MG was Shining G Gundam. But I was really young back then and I didn’t really built it. So I guess you can say what my really 1st MG is the exclusive Geara Doga Rezin Schnyder Custom 👍
Wow straight into premium Bandai territory. You sir are bold.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel
Thanks but I did my research here on YT first to not mess things up 😅
I want to get my first MG for my birthday, but I'm stuck debating between the NT-1 Alex 2.0, Zaku II 2.0, and the Strike Rouge Ootori RM.
@Toyama23 Hobby Channel
Thanks again for the advice on choosing my first MG kit.
I just bought the Char Zaku II 2.0, I was going to buy the MS06-F but it was overpriced, so I bought the next best thing. This is probably going to be my first painted kit, so now I’m thinking about what colors I should use.
Greetings fellow Malaysian gunpla brother. i love your video
Thank you fellow Malaysian hobbyists!
Literally my first MG.. the red .. + katanas.
Still surprises me that so many choose this for 1 mg
Yeah kinda wish I had seen something like this before I started. My first gunpla ever was the mg full armor unicorn ver. Ka still loved it though and got me addicted to this hobby
Thanks ... What I love about that kit is the base jabber
I always liked the astray red frame revise one of my favorites
Awesome, thanks for watching and commenting.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel I like your videos
Thanks! I’ll keep working to make more. This weeks video will be a rereleased of one of my old video. Because I need more time to refine the script for my next top 10 video.
Ok I'm counting on it
This was my first zaku master grade I ever built
Same! My first mono eye gundam for MG
