I think if bixpy figure out how to put a spot lock on that rig. Im sold. But the real game changer is the motorguide with the same speed and the spotlock as the cherry on top. But bixpy has that sleek design and plug and play feature. Just put a spotlock on it lol
Randall, thanks for a great video. My Bixpy is set for delivery tomorrow and this video made me even more excited than I was! I am putting it on a Vibe Shearwater. It will be interesting to see how the top speed compares. Thanks again.
That's great to hear. Don't forget to drain your battery 3 times to calibrate the power display. Also, if you plan on a long distance, keep trolling speed max at 6 to conserve battery.
Randall, consider the possibility of stressing the kayak’s mounting location when jumping to a top speed all at once from an idyll position, gradual increase in speed would be advisable . I’ve seen youtube videos where the scuffer holes area crack and start leaking on a Hobie while transporting the kayak with a cart to the water
Great video! Thank you. Purchasing one of these for my Old Town Pdl106. I've been looking for new content on the K1 with the new battery. Stay safe and keep the vids coming!
5.8 mph really great for Hobie Outback ! Each boat has an inherent hull speed. Important formula to calculate hull speed : 1.34 X SQUARE ROOT OF LENGTH OF WATERLINE. This explains why there are videos on TH-cam with several motors added on one kayak and no increase in speed.
Good informative video bro. I’ve been undecided between bixby and torqeedo, but after watching your video. I think I will save money up for the torqeedo.
Yeah, Torqueedo is most def #1 choice out there, but that price tag tho is out of my tax bracket. Now if one day I gain the number of subs and get the views you be getting. I'll upgrade then. 😂
Get the mesh guard. I recently jammed up my motor with a bag that wrapped around the propeller. Bixpy says I probably burned my motor even though it shut off immediately allowing me to easily pull the bag off. Motor would not restart again and have to send to bixpy to have it looked at. Before I was going to send off I tried to plug the motor back in to see if maybe it 0:15 would restart but it started to smoke at the connection. I went ahead and ordered a K-1 motor with the mesh guard this time. The other guard is too open and now I know it could ruin your motor and possibly battery too🤨
you cover more ground than you think, I forgot to drop my motor the first time too. Make sure you cycle the whole battery run it down to like 10 present before charging. So all the cells get used. Bixby. The clip will loosen up. Enjoy it
I'll be interested to see how the life of that battery is over time. I currently have a compass, but am considering getting an Outback/Bixpy. I fish open water on Lake Michigan for Salmon/Trout. Nice video keep us posted!
We need to go fishing down in Galveston soon. Came from a soloskiff to a kayak. Need some kayak fishing buds lol. Looking at getting the bixby soon. I like the ease of setup and less clutter than a trolling motor.
@@TheFishAndTrips I fish all along the se tx coast. All inshore fishing. Freeport , Galveston, matagorda, CC. I don’t fish out in the ocean in a kayak.
Ok, bixpy motor warp speed, Ranell peddling warp speed with the wind, with the current and downhill. Add in a kayak paddle and there you go, On a plane, throwing a wake, and maybe even pull a water skier. Let's go!
Thank you for the video. I’m buy the new Native Titan X next month and I was looking at the bixpy to go a long with the Motoguide XI3 so every video helps me make my decision.
I have a Hobie PA14 and I was wondering if you can pedal with the motor and if so, what would be your new cruzing speed at "Warp Speed"? Would you hit 6 or 7 mph?
Uhmm honestly, get the bigger battery. For $300 more dollars, you're getting twice the power and time on the water. The solar would be great IF you could run the Bixpy with the solar installed generating power at the same time, but that's not an option. If you get the Bixpy PP-378 K1...you will be disappointed with run time in my opinion...
No, just the cord that came with it since it sits directly in the back of my kayak. If you plan on having your battery farther away from your stern then I would advise to purchase the 4ft cord.
Yeah, I would not be happy with smaller battery. I'm still trying to push the bigger battery to it's limits. Longest trip I've gotten out of it so far was about 8 miles in 5 hours with. I peddle assist trolling max speed of 1 to 6. I get more water time each time I use it. I'm thinking I need to adjust my speed depending if I'm going with or against the current. My goal is to make the 6 hour 10 mile round trip before the battery dies.
Yup, that's why I got it registered last week! I been waiting for my stickers to come in that I ordered, but wasn't worried because I'm on a private lake and had a my tags on me as well I got from TPWD. 😎
I have the motor. It's just OK. I probably would not buy from this company again just cause it's customer Service is so bad. Just my thoughts something I wish I knew before I purchased from them. you should know before you spend a lot of money on a tiny little motor.
So, is it worth the price tag?🤔
Check out the Bixpy here: bixpy.com/?rstr=FishAndTrips
"If I'm out on the water for 22 hours please call the coast guard and send help" haha! Bro your set up in that room is so clean!
LOL appreciate it.
Best Bixpy review I’ve seen
Thank you! 😎

😂😂
You keep your kayak clean😮. Your gonna love this when your out long day and need get back from The Slop Bowl in Surfside!!!
Well of course. Who think I am...@mdlrfishing?😂
"Do not tick tock and drive" 🤣 Appreciate the test run video... Definitely going to get one for the Hobie PA 14' now👍

Spot lock would be nice, but I bet that would increase the the cost of it by $500 to $1,000.

Great video man! can wait to see you out fishing and maybe racing MDLR 😂 tight lines- PuraSal Angler 🙌🏻
Thank you. I appreciate it. As soon as this rain lets up, it's going to be on and popping. 😎

Thanks for watching and feel free to click the Bixpy link in the description or pinned comment to help support the channel!🙏🏾🙌🏾😎
Can’t wait to see all the new content
My credit card debt agrees.😂😭🤢🤮
Got mine coming for my older PA14. I can't wait!
Nice!

How interesting! I really wanted to hit 6mph tho!
Thanks for the great video. Much appreciated!
This kit is amazing! I bought 3 of them for my family. I don’t think this kit is necessary tho. You could do just fine with K1 outboard kit.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I would have tried for the 6mph also.
LOL maybe after dropping 30 lb I might get it. 😂
Watching from Cornwall U.K. mate - this was an absolutely cracking video, subbed within seconds 👍🤝
Welcome to the fam.

Per specs, allegedly 800 charges before it drops down to 70-80 charge.
Nice addition for sure. Congratulations
Thanks OG!😎

Yeah, Galveston for kayak fishing isn't super popular vs going to the marsh in Freeport.

I'll be taking flight next trip. Just need a nice North wind...
Enjoy and be safe out there.
Great video dude
I appreciate it, thank you.
Great for getting to the spot. Then just use pedals to stalk around the fish

No problem and thank is for watching.

Leeeego!!!😎

You can pedal with the motor and with a PA 14 and pedaling as hard as you can with warp speed, you'll max out about 6 to 6 1/2. mph.
good video
I appreciate it. Thank you.
superb !;))
Thank you! 🙌🏾😎
Does the larger battery give more power or more range but same power?
If I weighed 330, I’d be sitting on a Hobie submarine.
Both, it gives you a 13th speed unlike the smaller one that goes to a max of 12 speed. It also gives you twice the range as the 378 battery.
Yeah I'm not wanting that big battery but thinking abt getting the solar panels yes or no yr thoughts
Do you know if you can run a micro Power Pole with the Bixby on the Outback?
You would have to Jimmy something up since the bixpy mount uses the power pole holes to install.
Thank you
Did you have to purchase the 4ft electric cord?
No, just the cord that came with it since it sits directly in the back of my kayak. If you plan on having your battery farther away from your stern then I would advise to purchase the 4ft cord.
Bro can you confirm the bigger battery gives twice the power as opposed to lasts twice as long ? Thanks in advance mate 🙏🤝
Yeah, I would not be happy with smaller battery. I'm still trying to push the bigger battery to it's limits. Longest trip I've gotten out of it so far was about 8 miles in 5 hours with. Wouldn't it have been cheaper and better to get a motorguide xi3 kayak motor. 55lbs of torque vs 33 for the bixby and has an option for spotlock.
There will always be a cheaper way and even more expensive ways. I just chose this way for simplicity.
Not really. You would still have to buy the battery
Is there a better place u can can put the controller besides your wrist?
Yesz the last few trips I've strapped it around the H-rail section near the cup holder.
Im just looking at this battery goodness...
I'm still testing it out to see if I can make it last am entire trip.
Bro torqeedo hits 6.5-7 plus on 1103hp and half throttle 5-6 miles in which the battery can last a very long time
Well for that price, I would hope so!
Nice
Thanks😎
Are you aware that once you go from foot and paddle power to any kind of motor, that you have to register your kayak with TPWD and display TX numbers?
Yup, that's why I got it registered last week! I been waiting for my stickers to come in that I ordered, but wasn't worried because I'm on a private lake and had a my tags on me as well I got from TPWD. 😎
Hey, I knew you were a lawful guy.@@TheFishAndTrips
The same here in NJ that’s why I never put a motor on my PA14
Tie a scaffold knot to your carabiner.
Not the baby momma 😂😂
Lol you're the first person to catch that shot!😂
I think they oversold it by calling it "Warp Speed". LOL
😂😂😂
Agree, and I never use it. I never really try to take my speed above level six.
I have the motor. It's just OK. I probably would not buy from this company again just cause it's customer Service is so bad. Just my thoughts something I wish I knew before I purchased from them. you should know before you spend a lot of money on a tiny little motor.
I get about 8 to 10 miles from it while on the water. If I needed farther distance then I agree to buy a setup with a external lithium battery.
Maybe read the directions 🙄
If you read the directions...no one will ever remember your name.......
