one little pointer is that the Bismarck still had one of her flags painted. You can see it on the bottom from the underwater footage. I think your idea that they covered them for the battle with canvas seems correct.
Enjoyed your demonstration and have watched it twice. Couple of questions though as I launch my own miniatures fleet......when you printed out your label for the base did you use simple printer paper or something more robust? And secondly, when applying the label did you apply clear coat to seal it in?
I'm a bit confused bout the scale of the models. The ship fits on the base done with 3 DBx bases 4x3. It makes the whole base length 9cm. The Bismark length was 251 meters. Which will be 10.4cm in 1/2400. The model length in the video is about 8cm.
Mark just wanted to say very nice tutorial, you got a great effect using an easy techniques and inexpensive materials and models. Feels like something I could do myself which is inspiring. I plan on getting the WW1 version of GQ and start naval gaming.
I like your channel but I can’t help but think you put out more consistent battle reports in the past. Has something changed? Perhaps I stumbled into the he channel when your library was full, and then enjoyed the backlog All in all, more games please and less painting/DIY videos
You are partly right, Lewis. We used to cram all of our content into a 7-8 month window, often posting twice a week. And then the channel would go dark for 4+ months. After two years we decided this was not to our advantage and have since switched to posting consistent content year-round. So the volume of content and games we play is actually HIGHER than it was before, but it's spread out over the entire year without interruption.
Most here in the comments as far as i have seen are ok with kids, many including little wars tv and others want children to enter miniature wargaming, so thats why kids
@@ritaDas-xl4kz I'm okay with kids too. Not sure why people are reading my comment as anti-kid. Really I was just pointing out there was /too much/ kid in the video.
I bought a black powder rule book, one regiment of french, and one regiment of British. So I'ma paint them today
Loving Panzerschiffe miniatures! Introduced to them in the mid '80's and been a "love" story ever since.
The Bob Ross of the Bismarck.
One of my heroes!
Great video! And a great intro from Charlie!!
Thanks! I've been looking at running the Battle of the Java Sea and this is some brilliant inspiration.
A great technique for cheap, easy ocean texture on bases!
I will be running the Battle of the Java Sea at Historicon in November using Fire at Sea!

They probably planned to remove the canvas again after heading back, nearing home port, so the Luftwaffe would recognize them.
I kept waiting for him to advise us to use two thin coats.
Thank you for the magazine lead and your give away program. Due enjoy your videos.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Awesome video, Mark.
Great tutorial. Especially the waves.
Really good video and some excellent tips
Excellent video Mark! See you at Historicon!
Super tutorial! 👍
Thanks for the video. I already have a lot of 1:2400 ships, mainly GHQ, but this video has given me some ideas on how to improve their look.
Very awesome !
Awesome video, thanks for all the cool advice.
just purchased the four ships from Panzerschiffe today, I am going to use the battle of Denmark Straights to introduce table gaming to my son.
But you didn't say "two thin coats!" 🤣
Very nicely done. Awedome
I think they definitely covered the swastikas with canvas, as they are clearly visible on the wreck's bow :)

First rate paint job
Great stuff Mark! Are these the same models you used during Cyber Wars for Death Ride of the Scharnhorst?
They are the same models!

@@LittleWarsTV gooootcha. Makes sense. Thanks for explaining
Its important to remind people that others don't find their kid as cute as they do. Maybe less of the 5 year old and more of the 50 year old please?
The point of this channel is to encourage children into wargaming
