Back in 1988 My daughter was burned in a house fire. She was flown to Shriners hospital in Boston for treatment. While driving to the Hospital, I played this song over and over again while fighting back tears. To this day I can't listen to this song without tearing up. This was my grandfathers favourite song I often heard him listening to this every time I came home due to him and my nan living with us and I remember the atmosphere he created around this song, even when he became terminally ill he still listened and loved his music, it will be a month in 2 days I have only just had the courage to listen to this song, I love you Grandad and thank you for all the memories you gave us and keep doing the walk of life,1954-2023
I'm so sorry for your loss. My world fell apart when I lost my grandad. I held his hand 3 days and nights as he slipped away. We' kept him in the house he built when he immigrated to the US. I grew up there. I've never returned since the day he died. I don't know if I ever could just drive past it. That house is him. He poured so much off himself into it, it's not the same w/out him.
I used to listen and sang Dire Straits with my elders brothers when I was a child. Now after a big fight for the inheritance of my dad and many humiliations from them, I didn’t had anymore contact with them for the last 10 years. This is the truly walk of life but we must keep smiling and working hard to have something to smile for. I love that song, its part of my life.
I was a teenager when I brought home a Dire Straits cd. When I was playing this song, my dad told me to turn up the volume. Ever since, this was one of my dads favorite songs that came from my music collection instead of the other way around. My dad passed in 2015, when I miss him this is a song I play and thank him for the times we shared. He was definitely the one person I am happy to say we shared the walk of life together ❤
I'm envious. Both my parents were monsters. I thank God every day that I was able to get away from them. That's one reason I like this song so much. It picks me up!
I can relate... I learned it from my dad. For me to have loved music the way I do today was because of such sound from back then. I was so young I could not yet understand English and these taught me about 60% of the English I know.

I’m 15 years old. My life isn’t all too special. I’ve had my ups and downs. This song never fails to brighten my mood. It’s definitely my favorite song ever.
0:00 "You lost" "No. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be" Hearing this made me so sad as this show made up the cliff end of last year and most of this year. Love you Sheldon never change man❤ Edit: today I finished the big bang theory. I saw a few episodes when I was four and I still remember watching penny and lenerd saying their vows from all those years ago. I'm starting young Sheldon now with the big bang theory in mind to see how Sheldon's life was before Pasadena.
This song was a B-side single. I have got a copy of it, and it appears on the flip side of So Far Away. Both of them turned out to be major hit songs for Dire Straits.
Rest In Peace Jack Sonni (the other guitarist). You helped shape my rock music experience here on earth. You’ll always be remembered as one of the finest musicians of our generation.
They made one of the coolest songs ever- sultans of swing. They made one of the saddest songs ever- brothers in arms and they made one of the most uplifting songs ever- this one
Lol that's exactly what brought me back to this great song. The 80's was such a great time to be a child. Born in 78' I was a child in the 80's, and a teenager in the 90s.
When my Dad collapsed and died at my mum's burial and this music was played in one of our radio stations that same evening I found comfort in it,,I cant hold my tears whenever I hear this. music
It's melancholy and nostalgic. It's about getting by. The video showcases public failure. We're all just getting through it, so from one in the struggle to another: keep on keepin' on.
My dad's favourite song💜 I lost my dad 6 years ago when I was 20 and had just had my daughter, she was 11 weeks old. His first grandchild. We lost him out the blue to a heart attack and this was his favourite song. Currently playing this song and his now 6 yo granddaughter, 3 yo and 1 yo grandsons are dancing along xxx
same. my dad just got to see my firstborn before he died. he was in agony back then n my daughter giggling at the dog was the only thing that could put a smile on his face. she cant even remember him now
I agree, and i'm just 23 years old. There are just a few really good songs at the moment. But i doubt if they will be played when we are 10 years from now. I mean, this kind of 'old' music from all of the greats bands, still are played everywhere!
Your Dad forever lives on in this song. Everybody I know associates this song with their Dad playing it during their childhood. Our dad had an amazing sound system in the 80's, I definitely attribute some of my tinnitus to Dire Straights and Pink Floyd.
A great song that reminds all of us of our fathers - my dad LOVED the video because of the sports fails and the old people dancing. Ah the memories of growing up in the 80's. Miss you dad.
I grew up with this song in my household. My parents played it as often as I can remember we ever had a good time. Despite hardships and trials, we all made it through fairly well I'd say. This song and all the distant memories have and will always stick with me. Can't believe I had forgotten about this song until I stumbled upon it again yesterday. Damn, this is a true masterpiece and so much more this song. Do the walk of life.
Don't worry old-timers... Thanks for loving this song... I'm 27 and I will carry on dancing from where you left and play it for the coming generations, my kids included.
This song reminds me of my father, he had the best musical tastes. He passed away 4 years ago but still lives on in his favorite music, kisses to heaven.❤
Not many songs legit puts an emotional mark on me. But this one sure does. My dad loved this song he sadly passed away in August of last year only 11 days after my mum. He sure did the walk of life now its my turn to venture out there. I will stumble and fall but I will get up again. I will keep strong and be the best man I can be as I hope to unite with my dearest that is in Ukraine
My dad would play this many times when I was a kid. I’m 27 now and this song always gives me nostalgia! I can’t wait til I have my future kids and show them this song
I often think when I hear one of my all-time favorite songs on the radio, Or anywhere, I think of how the song means something different to me today, then it did 15 or 20 years ago. Many songs say something different to me than they did 5 or 10 years ago! But Rock and Roll speaks to me nonetheless! I remember when The Beatles debuted on the Ed Sullivan show. I was about 4, even then, I just KNEW that I was watching/ wittnessing

Oh my dear, we are all 15 at heart. love your time, love yourself and just be the best you can be, what ever that means to you.
Hey life gets better, but not before its worse. Just stay strong and take it one step at a time. Try to enjoy your walk of life. Your only young once
I’m 16, and I agree with you.
Your life is a very special gift! Great taste in music too.

Hearing this made me so sad as this show made up the cliff end of last year and most of this year. Love you Sheldon never change man❤
Edit: today I finished the big bang theory. I saw a few episodes when I was four and I still remember watching penny and lenerd saying their vows from all those years ago. I'm starting young Sheldon now with the big bang theory in mind to see how Sheldon's life was before Pasadena.
Dude they should make a show about Sheldon’s experience at Caltech
One of my favorite songs of all time! Absolutely contagious and a true 80s classic.
Hello there how are you doing today
Complete 80s classic. Takes me back to my childhood.
😂
Definitely a great song with good lyrics..especially for us over 80 who all have collected great memories in OUR WALK OF LIFE
This song was a B-side single.
Heard of his death, but which one is he in the video?
🎸🎸
Sad to know this....
How many people still loves "Dire Straits".
no wan
Me! Favorite group.
Forever ..
❤❤❤❤❤i love them so much
Im only 33 now. The moment i heard how they play.. its so god damn cool and perfect!
They made one of the coolest songs ever- sultans of swing. They made one of the saddest songs ever- brothers in arms and they made one of the most uplifting songs ever- this one
And don't forget one of the best love stories/love songs ever - Romeo & Juliet. All the best my friend! Do the walk of life (:
Damn, you stole my script.

I'm 19 a not a single day goes by in which I do not listen Dire Straits. Favorite group by far. They were majestic.
I honestly think this is the happiest song in music history.
Me too
I agree.
Yeah i kinda agree. I think celebration times and September are also very happy songs.

Rubberband Man: Hold my beer.
“You lost?”
“No. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
Just finished that rn
Just saw it now. I can't stop crying.
Lol that's exactly what brought me back to this great song. The 80's was such a great time to be a child. Born in 78' I was a child in the 80's, and a teenager in the 90s.
If you go back to the 1st ever episode of Young Sheldon, this was also played in the train toy scene.
That's precisely what brought me here.
One of the best rock and roll bands ever❤️🔥
"No, I'm exactly where I supposed to be." -Sheldon Cooper
I used to hear this tune on road trips along with dad...Those were the days.

My favorite song of all time… still can’t believe the ‘staying’ power this song has, even today.
Brilliant composition, Mr. Knopfler.
This song makes you want to get up and get things done because it is full of energy. Love it!!❤
I agree 👍
So do i ,thanks😂😊🎉

So we all do the WALK of LIFE.Thank you Dire Straigths for all your beautiful music You are a awesome band with lovely music.
this song always makes me feel like i’m about to cry but mostly in a happy way and i have no idea why
It's melancholy and nostalgic. It's about getting by. The video showcases public failure. We're all just getting through it, so from one in the struggle to another: keep on keepin' on.
its nostalgic
YESSSSSS!!!! I'M FELLING EXACTLY LIKE THIS RIGHT NOW
Same.
Nostalgia is insane with this one…
My dad's favourite song💜 I lost my dad 6 years ago when I was 20 and had just had my daughter, she was 11 weeks old. His first grandchild. We lost him out the blue to a heart attack and this was his favourite song. Currently playing this song and his now 6 yo granddaughter, 3 yo and 1 yo grandsons are dancing along xxx
:) nice thought tho your children dancing to his fav song:)
same. my dad just got to see my firstborn before he died. he was in agony back then n my daughter giggling at the dog was the only thing that could put a smile on his face. she cant even remember him now
GOD bless your dad & your children I enjoy listening to older music Rush Limbaugh just went to heaven to be with your dad Rachel 🇺🇸🐱
Just came ro show my 8 year old my dads favorite song. He died when I was 20. 1 year before any of my kids
Great history
Music won't ever be this good again. Old music will never die
Music changes. I listen to this and whatever is on the charts.
That's right... Today music types like rap, trap and others are in my opinion shit.
I agree, and i'm just 23 years old. There are just a few really good songs at the moment. But i doubt if they will be played when we are 10 years from now. I mean, this kind of 'old' music from all of the greats bands, still are played everywhere!
😝
Then you clearly haven't listened to Playboi Carti
The most important is that He do the walk... The walk of life!
I grew up with this. My old man passed last year. This music brings back memories. Makes me smile
I’m sorry for your loss. May he Rest In Peace/Power/Love
Sorry for your loss mate, my old man passed in 2019, still brings a tear to my eye hearing almost any dire straits song as all it reminds me of is him
Your Dad forever lives on in this song.
Mu mum too!!!
Good ol days

Dire Straits is legendary. Nobody sounds like them.
Real music, from real artists. All hail Lord Knoffler 🙌
One song that will always put a smile on your face however bad of a day your having. Absolute belting classic
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I grew up with this song in my household. My parents played it as often as I can remember we ever had a good time.
Despite hardships and trials, we all made it through fairly well I'd say.
This song and all the distant memories have and will always stick with me.
Can't believe I had forgotten about this song until I stumbled upon it again yesterday. Damn, this is a true masterpiece and so much more this song.
Do the walk of life.
Excellent lyrics. Can never forget when the album was released early 80s I think when I was studying in the UK
TheDaggz what a touching and beautiful story, you made cry!
60 years old here. Oh how I danced to this, it brings back the rhythm and the smile.
72 and love this, pity I can't dance to it anymore the way I could
Don't worry old-timers... Thanks for loving this song... I'm 27 and I will carry on dancing from where you left and play it for the coming generations, my kids included.
i,m 60 too and if i could be 20 again i,d go back to the 80,s in a flash 😊
How did you danced it?
This song was a regular in my dance exercise class in college. I can't hear this song w/o going back to the fieldhouse.
We are playing this our Dads funeral on Friday. He loved Dire straits too❤
My dad passed away last year. This was one of his favorite songs. I miss him
I think it is one of the best songs ever
I'm sorry for your loss my friend may God give you strenght to carry on through Jesus Christ Amen.

This song reminds me of my father, he had the best musical tastes. He passed away 4 years ago but still lives on in his favorite music, kisses to heaven.❤
I need to talk to my father
I love your what you said
Not many songs legit puts an emotional mark on me.

Love to see a desi woman appreciating such music. Kudos!

One of my "Happy Songs" of life. It's mind blowing how a song can go with you as you grow, and go through different stages.
I couldn't agree with you more!
dance rother dance
Todo pasara :)
Without a doubt one of my favourite songs and for me a defining hit from the 80's. Never fails to make me smile.
43 yrs old, and this is my FAVOURITE SONG.
I'm the same age and love this too, I had to ask Google what was the name of the song, to look for it.
One of my favorite songs of all time. It's so lively and upbeat.
Amazing song , just love hearing it and makes me feel great . They don’t make music like these anymore.
80's, by far the best era in music...the 80's never fail to bring about a good mood and vibes :)
70s....80s...90s.... yep !.... after that pretty much crap. Dire Straits one of the alltime great bands for sure.
50s started it and ended in the 90s ...real music era peaked 60s 70s 80s afterwards went to shit💩.
